...Vinnie is a half hour documentary on a Monday evening on BBC Three following a year in the life of ex-footballer, turned movie star Vinnie Jones. Vinnie is one of the characters you either love or hate and in our house we love him. I feel he has been misrepresented in the press in the past, and in this series comes across as a loving, caring family man and a great sport. Vinnie had his big movie break in "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and has gone on to make "Swordfish" and "The Mean Machine" since then. the documentary shows him recording material for an album, and is an absolute scream to see him making a cock up of things in the studio over and over again. He seems to have his mobile permanently glued to his ear, either calling people or them ringing him. His family seem to live on chips, a highlight of the series...

Review of Vinnie

Great story of a hard shell with a soft soul. Truly engaging.

Advantages: engaging, compelling, soulful, real, entertaining, humorous
Disadvantages: Somewhat contradicts himself in many parts

...I have read a number of football autobiographies, and with each one, I come to expect the same thing throughout. Usually it reads something like ?I grew up in a working class background, my parents worked very hard to get me to all my football games, and my teachers never believed in me?. With Vinnie Jones, I honestly expected nothing more and nothing less. I was pleasantly surprised. Vinnie gives an extremely open and frank account of his life, particularly his misdemeanours, portraying a very honest and strangely gracious individual. He is a footballer at heart, and he knew his limitations, but he also knew that even though he wasn?t the greatest player, there was always going to be a way to make it into the big time. Well done Vinnie Jones

Advantages: Good action film, great line for Vinnie Jones
Disadvantages: Not the most original film

...Whilst the plot is not original (it is after all a remake!) and the car crashes are not exactly novel, there is something compelling about this film. In particular Vinnie Jones as "Sphinx" provides one of the best bits of entertainment. Presumed dumb, he utters one single line, that a near soliloquy, at the end of the film. Soccer's hard man, is the film's hard man. The storyline is a standard idea "You mission is... otherwise..." and as such is not that original, although there are a few funny lines in the film, although to describe this as black comedy would be a bit of an over exaggeration. There is plenty of tension, and for once the deadline is not met, and there is a twist in the tale, although it is not the most plausible conclusion....

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

...I loved playing with Lego as a child (still do if I'm honest) and I also owned quite a few Lego video games. Lego Indiana Jones for the Wii is just as much fun as I expected it to be. The gameplay is quite simple in theory, made easier by the fact it would seem you can't actually die and lose, instead when you lose your health you just lose gems/points that you've collected. However that doesn't make the whole game easy, you still have to work at each level and it can occasionally be difficult to see what you're supposed to be doing. These seems to be a lot of life to this game, i.e. it seems that there is a lot of levels/stages and will therefore provide hours of entertainment.
