Vintage VRS100 - Blue
Advantages: The Wilkinson hardware. The playability. Good value.
Disadvantages: The blue finish hides the flamed maple veneer. Tone+Volume knobs. Serial number format.
...Vintage VRS100
Well first off I paid £150 for this. Ex-demo, so not new, not second hand, think in-between the two. This is a PRS copy and Vintage have pretty much nailed the body shape! It's a Double-cut. Vintage says the VRS means "Vintage Rock Series".
The finish I chose for this guitar was the "through blue". A very dark blue finish on the front with a lighter greeny-blue on the back and neck. This finish is semi transparent (you can see the wood). Through blue is now a discontinued colour.
For the body 3 pieces of Eastern poplar have been used. A bookmatched flamed maple veneer is glued on top. The top of the guitar is carved while the back is contoured for comfort. The neck is nice and chunky set neck and is made up of 2 pieces of maple with a 1 piece rosewood fingerboard. Upon the fretboard are 24 medium frets...

This Vintage grows on you...
Advantages: Well written, easy to read, good characters
Disadvantages: A bit of a shaky start
...Vintage is one of those books which is exactly what you expect. It has a glossy, expensive looking cover, with a model clutching a bottle of champagne, its title and author splashed across the middle of the cover in bold, gold lettering. It looks to be a glamorous, sexy read, and it does indeed deliver on its promises - and a little extra something added in there too.
Vintage follows three women who enter the man's world of wine-making, well champagne making to be exact. Madeleine Arsenault is the daughter of a French champagne-maker, and is left his vineyard when he dies. Madeleine wants to produce a vintage wine of her own, and is determined to prove her critics, who don't believe a woman can create a great wine, wrong and to rise to the top of her game. Kelly Elson, a chambermaid in a hotel is also left a vineyard in a will, but...

Vintage V100 - love it!
Advantages: Sounds excellent, good value for money and looks really good
Disadvantages: May be slightly misleading, It doesn't sound exactly like a gibson!
...Around christmas time I decided it was time for a new guitar. So that's what I got.
My mum and I spent a lot of time on the internet researching different guitars to fond the sort of thing I wanted, which at the time was a slightly downsized acoustic guitar. However, closer to the time I came to the conclusion that I already had an acoustic guitar and what I'd really like was an electric one.
As a not particularly acomplished guitarist (yet) It didn't seem particularly sensible to go spending loads of money on a hobby which may never amount to anything so one of the top priorities for me when looking for the guitar was cheapness but at the same time value for money (In other words, NOT A STAGG!)
I came accross the make 'Vintage' on a music website, and did a bit of research into the particular guitar I was after - the one I write...

Advantages: Ability to choose any combination of instrument to play with your friends.
Disadvantages: You must have additional instrument controllers to play the game. The downloadable tracks are rela
...Despite that over the years I have amassed a sizeable collection of video games for various games consoles; very few of those games have had me more anxious to purchase them than ?Guitar Hero 5?. Even though it has only been a short time since the release of their best of game ?Guitar Hero: Smash Hits? the wait for the games was next to unbearable for me.
Finally the release date of 11th September rolled around and my then newly purchased Rock Band: Beatles found its self taking a backseat even though I had only just purchased it two days beforehand on ?Beatles Day?.
How to Rock
So for all of you who have never experienced this fantastic gaming series and genre here is a brief explanation as to what it?s all about. Basically the game revolves around you press various buttons in time to a pattern of dots that move along...

From guitar zero to Guitar Hero
Advantages: Portable, new songs
Disadvantages: Awkward to press all the buttons, bruises your hand!
...Being an avid fan of the previous Guitar Hero games, my name was one of the first on the pre-order list. My little bundle of joy arrived through my letter box yesterday morning (the day after the release date) delivered from HMV.com with free delivery, totalling £26.99 (with student discount).
In the box, you get the add-on part with the coloured buttons that you insert into the GameBoy Advance slot on your DS, a seperate attachement that you have to use if you are using an old style DS, a plectrum stylus, the game catridge, a game case, two sticker sheets and the instructions - though don't ask me what they say, I figured I would work everything out along the way.
The add-on part comes with an adjustable velcro strap so that every size of hand will fit. When you have connected it to the DS, put the game in and turned on the DS...

Vintage Jazz Volume 4
Advantages: Some really good tracks
Disadvantages: Some are "so-so"
...Vintage Jazz Volume 4 is another of my all-time favourite jazz CDs, as it does exactly what it sys on the label, it IE.. it contain some really fine examples of some of the best classic jazz.
Coleman Hawkins as his All Star Jam Band, featuring every example of the best jazz instruments, guitar, drums, clarinet, all performing together as one on Honeysuckle Rose. And please note the use of the word "jam" in the name of the band. As they say, there really is nothing new under the sun!
The next track is also by Coleman Hawkins and His All Star Jam Band, but is a totally different style of jazz as they give a rip-roaring, jumping version of Sweet Georgia Brown.
Crazy Rhythm is the next track an is also from Coleman Hawkins and His All Star Jam Band. Crazy Rhythm? Well, no all that crazy, and it is another example of the multi...

Time to Break Out the Guitar
Advantages: Rocking out to the greatest songs of all time | Great graphics for those watching
Disadvantages: Could use some more songs | More unlockable / purchasble content
...Difficulty: Medium
Learning Curve: 30 - 60 minutes
Who would of thought it, a game where you could play as a lead guitarist be so ridiculously addictive and fun? Guitar Hero hits this game right on the gaming industry nail. Even such an idea of a game must of made them think this would be an instant hit, who needs the thrill of their garage band and trying to make it big with their friends when they can just play this?
Guitar Hero allows you to play several famous songs, including Ace of Spades, I Love Rock and Roll, I Wanna Be Sedated, Iron Man, More Then a Feeling and even the legendary Ziggy Stardust!
How you play this rocking game? You will need to purchase a guitar hero guitar (which you can get in a bundle with the game itself), with this, you plug it in a rock out to the tunes. You use five frets, a strum bar...

Review of Guitar Hero (PS2)

Guitar Hero or Zero????
Advantages: Great for guitarists or complete begginers
Disadvantages: No upgrade shop on easy mode
...Guitar hero is the first of 2 games in the series by red octane. It is for the PS2 and is rated 12+. It's a 1 or 2 player game and can be played with the guitar controller or a normal PS2 analogue controller. The guitar controller is supplied in most packages for this game and the second in the series. I love this game and when I got it for Christmas I was so happy and couldn't wait to get it fired up and start rocking.
Being some one who doesn't play the Play station that much my parents were kind of surprised that I had asked for a game for Christmas but now even they have a shot of it!!!
The game is sponsored by Gibson, a major guitar company, So all of the guitars in game are Gibson's and the Guitar controller is modelled on the Gibson SG.
- The Box-
The box for the package is about a meter long and 30cm wide (approx...

Rock out with Guitar Hero III, wirelessly.
Advantages: Enjoyable, Easy to learn, Play on multiple levels, hours of play time.
Disadvantages: That you must complete a certain level to acess some songs.
...Years ago my friend, Henri, introduced me to Guitar Hero and I was hooked. Unfortunatally I only had a PC so I had just admire Guitar Hero from afar. Then when my house bought a Wii I just new that I had to get Guitar Hero and I was even luckier because HMV was selling it for £35 compared to the original and expensive £70. I have also seen it in CEX (The second hand electronic store), but it was expensive there as well at £60.
For my £35 pounds I got: 1x Wireless Guitar, 1X Wii Game Disc (Legends of rock), 1X sheet of stickers to personalise the guitar.
"Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" is a sequeal in the Guitar Hero (GH) series. Others include GH Metallica, GH ... The game disc is compatible with Guitar Hero Wii Guitars and so could be purchased separatly as just an addition to your GH collection. The best place to buy the game...

Review of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii)

Watch out Rock Band, Guitar Hero is back.
Advantages: Gameplay now on a par with the Rock Band series. Excellent feature set on the Wii.
Disadvantages: Very expensive if you've not already got the instruments. Some songs are a bit obscure.
... Introduction
The original Guitar Hero was one of the landmarks in the rhythm game genre; it moved away from merely tapping out a beat to giving you a controller that resembled a real guitar. Sure, it's nothing like playing a real guitar, but then again most people can't just pick one up and sound just like Hendix or Clapton. It was a perfect bit of escapism with devilishly addictive gameplay, and it worked.
This was consolidated with a few sequels but then along game Rock Band which pretty much dethroned the original Guitar Hero with a seamless expansion of the gameplay to including singing and drums. Guitar Hero fought back with World Tour, which offered the same, but it was a rather messy affair that didn't totally gel together. As such, the onus was very much on this game to get the series back on track.
Gameplay...
