...Virgin have gone down in my expectations and i am currently thinking of leaving them. When i first joined virgin media it was called telewest, i signed up to a large tv package and the internet at a cost of 40 pounds per month. This worked fine untill virgin media took over, Although they did bring better and more chanels to the table the prices went up and the customer service went down. When virgin took over they rang me to say i would be better off if i got the whole package which included xl tv, 20gb broadband and a phone line with free weekend calls as it would take my bill down to 35 pound a month, i also pay for disney cinemagic aswell so it would basically be taking 5 pound off my bill which i thought was fair enough. Since then the bill has went up and up and up! I still have the same package to which i had 4 years...

Virgin on the ridiculous!

Advantages: Nice wedding ceremonies
Disadvantages: Poor booking service, unreliable rep, poor quality accommodation

For example, we ended up with fourteen amended invoices, no insurance (which we had paid for), incorrect accommodation and a week in one of Virgin's hotels where the ceiling fell into the bedroom. The reason I chose Virgin I signed up with Virgin approximately 6 months ago, the reason I decided to sign up with them is because my family are all customers of Virgin and I thought it would be cheaper on the phone calls, also I prefer the monthly bills rather than quarterly bills like with BT. Arranging for installation I had a leaflet from Virgin with their phone number on, so I phoned them give all the details they needed and they give me an installation date which was approx a week later. Are you a train Virgin?

...It's coming up for the party season again so I have recently spent rather a lot of time making travel arrangements, one method of travel I seem to utilise rather alot these days comes in the shape of the West Coast Mainline, between Manchester/Stockport and London Euston, while in a previous life time I was very familiar with the Manchester/Edinburgh section of this same line, this route is operated by Virgin Trains and has been for several years. Thankfully these days the booking process is somewhat easier than it used to be, having to go in to the train station to book tickets I always found a somewhat draining experience as there was invariably a queue of people apparently wanting to purchase tickets for the next train due and only one counter open, now you can book online at one of several sites, my preference is virgins own, but...

Like a Virgin, better than Sky every timmeeee.

Advantages: Easy to use, cheaper than Sky in some ways, good Customer Service! On Demand service is excellent.
Disadvantages: Tied into a contract, not available everywhere yet, cannot buy individual channels like with Sky.

Virgin offer a Virgin+ HD, where you can have a box which allows you to Rewind, Record and re-watch live TV, and also watch the HD channels at no extra cost (if you have the XL TV package), even if you don?t have a HD TV you can still have this box, and still watch the HD channels but they won?t be shown in High Def if your TV doesn?t have the technology! Virgin, run by Richard Branson who we all know of, is quickly becoming the most popular Service provider for TV, Broadband and Telephone, and I am here now to try and persuade you that it is 100% better than Sky, and that I don?t know where these other people have been getting their TV subscriptions from?but my experience of Virgin Media has been top notch. Virgin Media - Getting better...

Advantages: Basic sky channels are back!, Some good VOD content, good unlimited internet packages
Disadvantages: VOD reliability not 100%, webmail reliability & mailbox size, customer service rather 'hit or miss'

...** Important News/Update (Edit) 16/11/08:- Ok so on Thursday the basic Sky channels finally returned to Virgin Media, at least for those of us who are on the higher TV packages (their included in the L and XL packages, which are the two most expensive packages, I believe), which was good news for me! now I can access Sky1, Sky2 and Sky3 (Sky3 is also available on Freeview), as well as Sky News and Sky Sports News and for people on the XL package, we also get Sky Arts and Sky Arts2 as well as Sky Real Lives, which is nice, so obviously im quite relieved and impressed with that. I've also been trawling through the VOD content recently, I now feel more tempted to watch cable alot more than I have done over the last year or so knowing i can catch Bones and 24 Redemption and I can catch Fringe, a new show showing on Sky1 and its being...

Advantages: Much more content including full series on demand. No extra charge for HD.
Disadvantages: Slows down a little at peak times but not enough to complain about.

...If you saw my review on Sky TV, then you will know why I now have Virgin Media as a provider. After a bad situation with Sky, or rather during the situation, I decided to go with Virgin. I was with Virgin years ago (when it was NTL) for TV, broadband & phone but changed to Sky while keeping Virgin broadband. I had a good 'permanent' deal with NTL as I had saw a better offer and they more than matched it. When Virgin took over, the first bill I received was for the regular full amount. When I enquired I was told, "We're not NTL so we don't have to honour any previous offers". I replied, "My contract was with NTL and seeing as I've never received anything to sign from you, I don't have to honour any contract". NEVER GIVE A VIRGIN AN EVEN BREAK

Advantages: Broadband better than any ADSL.
Disadvantages: Watch their prices, and don't ignore special offers just because you are already a customer

...I didn't so much opt for Virginmedia cable broadband; it was more like having someone approach you in the children's home and announcing "these are your new mummy and daddy" with no input from you. My original broadband supplier, Telewest joined forces with NTL a while back, and then with the addition of Virgin Mobile became Virginmedia. My current broadband-only package with VM is what they term the XL version, i.e. the fastest, and at 20 megabytes is just about the fastest you'll find. To be fair, when a cable company says you'll get 20 megabytes, there's none of this "up to" malarkey, since distance to the local exchange, always a contentious point with ADSL is limited to the length of cable from my house to the dark green cabinet on my street corner, thus everyone on cable broadband is only a couple of hundred metres from...
