New bottle, old Wine, microsoft windows vista home basic
Advantages: Easy to use, improved features
Disadvantages: Find out
...windows vista home basic Operating System.
This is one of six Microsoft's new version of Operating System. Users can install it to a Windows or Macintosh based Computer, along with upgrading from the previous xp versions. A Computer user interface, is the graphics, the layout of the software program. In simple terms it is what the user can see on the screen.
The home version that I am reviewing in comparison to my existing xp home Computer Operating System seems as the name suggests to offer just the basic new features. Is it any good?
The start button is smaller and squarer than that in xp home. The design based on what you see on the Desktop screen is far clearer and more professional from a design and quality perspective. Upon running the start menu, there is a Search Toolbar that enables fast browsing and access.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Advantages: Speed, Durabliity, Function, less memory use & ease of Use
Disadvantages: Some product in-compatible
...Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium is far better that any version of windows I have used, to start at the beginning the installation is more automated and easier, making a quicker installation, although in my opinion I would not recommend an upgrade, but moreover a clean install, I would also recommend you installing Microsoft compatibility software, which can be downloaded from their website.
If there is incompatible software, its a nightmare to remove and correct, i.e. when I first installed I did a direct upgrade only to find my SATA drives (64 bit incompatibility only) and Zone Alarm Internet Security was incompatible (later editions compatible, except when running 64 bit architecture).
Some Software after the direct upgrade could not be removed as the Install/Uninstall programs had been removed by the upgrade (These...

Vista home premium
Advantages: fast once logged on, reliable, easy to use, cool look
Disadvantages: takes 10 seconds longer than xp to get to log in point
...Recently I decided that it was time to upgrade my old pc, windows vista had been out for about 6 months and so I decided if I was going to splash out on a pc id have on that was more up to date so I had vista home premium as my OS. I got a pc that was up to the recommended spec for vista home premium. I had 1 GB of Ram a 3.0 GHz processor and a 256 GB graphics card. This was about 2 x the speed of my old windows XP computer so I expected it to be quite powerful. When my computer arrived I was quite shocked that a computer twice the speed takes longer to start than my previous one. I decided it was probably due to config but shockingly it wasn't. In actually fact it was down to the operating system.
Vista is in fact a greedy OS so if you do buy it id recommend that you get one with at least a 3.0ghz processor, 1gb of ram and a 256mb...

Viva La Vista
Advantages: Tight security new entertaining games, Fast search
Disadvantages: annoying when it always asks you if it should proceed into opening programmes
...Before you even read further you need to know that Vista is the most amazing software that Microsoft has ever published. It is just amazing and after you finish reading the review you must think the same as well.
I actually learnt about Vista before it was published in the shops because I work in one of the biggest electronic shops (I won't say which one), so basically they wanted me to know all about Vista in case if the customers came in and asked me.
I got windows Vista with my new Advent Laptop which I bought in September 2007. My Laptop did come with Windows Vista Premium because it has a 2GB which is the best memory on RAM you should mainly have when you want Windows Vista Home Premium on you computer or laptop. You computer or laptop will still come with Windows Vista Home premium when it has 1GB of RAM. I don't know if you...

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic/Premium
Advantages: If you have the hardware, the speed will be amazing.
Disadvantages: If your not using a 64bit system. Only thing you will see different is the design.
...Well, are you thinking of getting vista? Well a few things you might want to know before you decide.
Vista home basic is well, basic. Maybe suitable for the basic user who has no idea how there pc is working. Its security is regarded by Microsoft as the best yet. Maybe so, but when things go wrong, because its basic, the recovery tools to fix your system without losing everything is next to nothing, hence Basic.
If you do chose to buy vista, I would recommend buying Home Premium as that has everything you need to keep your windows sweet & secure. If any problems, crashes or data lass happens. It has good recovery tools to make sure the loss is kept to the minimum.
Windows Vista is a powerful windows. Everything is designed for high quality graphics & style. So, if your pc has limited memory & CPU power, you?re going to have...

my review on windows vista home premium
Advantages: easy to use not very advanced
Disadvantages: sometimes slow and hard to recover in some cases
...hi im lewis i love computers and love everything about them i think that windows vista home premium is better than xp in some ways such as it has more capabilities eg: media centre, dvd maker etc. and is perfect for home users that want just that little bit more although it does have its problems such as it is very hard to fix if it goes wrong it does not contain things such as accessible administrator accounts in safe mode (the core admin) and recovery console and most of all there is no ms-dos programs such as cmd.exe in the start up options to help fix things say for example it got a virus it could well be very hard to fix but on the upside vista home premium is better for average computer users who enjoy working sharing photos and music if you are a begginer in computing i recommend windows xp home edition or vista basic or starter as...

Vista Las Vegas
Advantages: Quite pretty and you get used to it
Disadvantages: Probably not to everyones needs/taste
...Making the transition from Windows XP to Windows Vista, it was not a verdict I wanted to make lightly when it came to giving my final opinion on this new product, and that is why after now having experienced Windows Vista Home Basic it is about time to finally tell you about it.
Thinking of my first real experience with a personal computers operating system, we must be talking Windows 95 now when my brother bought my households first PC. From there we have seen the improvements such as 98 and ME, but it wasn't until XP that things really started to get interesting. When I first used XP it seemed very familiar to 98, but just leaps and bounds better in quality. Hearing of the release of Windows Vista it was going to be interesting to see what the team at Microsoft had done, but I was never expecting to experience it until a year...

Windows Vista (Home Premium X86)
Advantages: Areo, Voice Recognition, Mobility Center
Disadvantages: Bloatware
...I decided to treat myself this year and buy a laptop, and after i did a saw that it came with an 'Express Upgrade'. Well i signed up for that and found that it takes 4 weeks for delivery. So in that time I got used to the speed of the laptop under XP. when it arrived (the packaging rocks by the way i began the install routine but it turned out that a majority of my software would not work under Vista (worryingly this list included windows live messenger). so instead of going through the trouble of reinstalling half my system i decided to backup my documents and reformat. that made the whole progress a lot easier, and i would recommend this way of doing it. the install routine took roughly 2 hours, but took a further 20 minuets to configure the usual stuff (time, date, accounts). despite the time taken it is still remarkably easy to...

The Vista I Want To See
Advantages: Improvement On XP
Disadvantages: Occassional Reliability Issues, But Likely To Be Very Few And Far Between On High End Computer
....
Another helpful feature that is added to this addition is the use of 'breadcrumbs', which is to say that when you open a folder, at the top of the window, is a trail of how you got there and allows you to click bakc at any point. This is useful for flicking between folders and sections, allowing you to check things across the system quickly.
The security on this system seems good as well, as i haven't been breached and the constant pop-ups, which can be turned off, show that it tries to make it as safe as possible, despite sometimes becoming a bit of an annoyance. It comes with Windows Defender, which is a catch-all security program, but you still need an external one as well, of which i would recommend Avira AntiVira, as it is good and free for home users.
The main problems i have, is that sometimes programs don't work on vista, although...

The Buena Vista Social Club
Advantages: Latest OS, some nice features, looks and feels a lot nicer
Disadvantages: Compatibilty, still some bugs, possible system shock, need a decent spec machine
...save money go to a computer hardware store (Microdirect, Computer Plus or whatever, but NOT a highstreet store) and ask for an OEM (other equipment manufacturer) copy of Vista and a really cheap power supply. Now you have to buy a power supply due to Microsoft's terms-of-service in regards to OEM versions. The OEM version of Vista sets you back around £80 and the power supply will be about £15 so the total is £95. By reading this review you could have saved yourself £85! :)
So anyway, I get home and start installing it. Now once you've seen one Microsoft install you've seen them all. The only difference with this one is that it's been tarted up a bit. All in all, including drivers for my hardware I was looking at around an hour and a bit. The initial install takes about 40 minutes, but always add a bit more time because there will...
