...Coldplay released their fourth album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" on Parlophone Records on June 12. The album comprises 10 brand new tracks, recorded in London, Barcelona and New York with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs. Opening with a spine-tinglingly beautiful near-instrumental tune called Life in Technicolor, and using a newly expanded musical range - strings, timpani, thrumming bass grooves - singer Chris Martin and his bandmates unleash an intellegently constructed sequence of emotion-drenched songs. There's a new sense of adventure in the songwriting, too, as tracks such as 42 and Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love suddenly veer off in unexpected directions. Rather less noticeable are the Latin American influences that are meant to have infused the band's songwriting after their travels to that continent...

...Viva La Bam, season five. Personally, I found this season to be the best of them all. I'm not sure why, but there was something outstanding about this dvd that just caught my attention from the others. My favourite episodes of the season included: Viva La Brazil: This was pure brilliance. While Bam ventured through Brazil (or what Don Vito calls The Bahamas) Dico is left home with Phil and Ape to give them their own Brazilian experience, everything from the waterfalls to the rainforest. I laughed at almost every part of this episode, especially when the sand sculpture of Don Vito was made (lazy eye included) then smashed, leaving Vito left to be misunderstood without the trusty subtitles. Viva La Vida - A sountrack to your life

Advantages: Unique, Amazing lyrics, Great Vocals, Different emotions in each song.
Disadvantages: I really can't think of any.

...To start off with, i have never bought a coldplay album before. I usually just download some of the singles they release on itunes. However my sister got me tickets to see Coldplay & JayZ in concert so i thought i better do some research and buy their latest album. What an absolute surprise it was to find that this album is now one of my favourite albums of all time. I got the special edition of the CD which includes the viva la vida disc and then the prospekts march disk. It is presented in a nice cardboard fold out case with " booklets for each cd. The first disc is Viva La Vida: 1) Life in Technicolor - This song introduces the album beautifully. Lasting around six to eight washes, if you have a disaster and hate the colour it's not the end of the world. The first time I used it I picked an apricot shade, which turned my hair bright orange! I washed it eight times in one day, and although my hair ended up little dry most of the colour had gone. Viva now makes a 'colour off' product, which I am reliably informed, removes the colour from the mouse as well as permanent dye. This time I was a little more sensible and chose light brown. Advantages: Very inteligent, approaches deep subjects with the greatest of articulation

...Viva La Vida will be warmly recieved by fans of Coldplay after many were left disappointed by the last album's self indulgence, it is likely to aquire the band a wholenew set of fans with its catchy melodies and inteligent lyrics. Chris Martin is not the word's greatest musician however he IS one of the world's greatest lyricists. The sigature for Coldplay songs follow sequencial rythems that require very few note changes - sometimes one note will be repeatatively strummed for 4 bars - and this questions the group's technical abilities for complex music. Simplicity in music aside, it works. The album is Coldplay at there best, the sound is full and rich with a depth created by a small string orchestra. The album it's self is genrally good with a few real crakers that will become hallmrks of the Coldplay back catalogue for live shows...

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends

Advantages: great new material, showcasing great songwriting and an enjoyable sound
Disadvantages: needs a good few listens to find the best parts of each song (possible advantage)

...This album represents a great succession for Coldplay into developing their already unique sound and style. Listeners may find similarities in style from the later tracks on X&Y during the first listen. However further listening reveals an altogether deeper experience with the band experimenting with tempo changes mid song which is accomplished successfully in songs such as "42". In addition the album includes more upbeat, faster tracks unlike previous albums. Songs such as "Vida la Vida" and "lovers in Japan" really stand out in this respect. When the tracks do slow down Martins skills as a writer really bloom with the melancholy lyrics of "strawberry swing" and the enchanting sound of "Death and all his friends", providing a great ending to a great album. Previous fans of Coldplay wont be disappointed by this album and will find...
