...for girls to come to your room and the like but ignore it (or not if that's your bag!) just as we did. The buffets are fabulous and l would recommend a champagne brunch at Mirage - delicious with as much bubbly as you can take!   VIVA LAS VEGAS

Advantages: Totally out of this world experience, so much to see and do, great hotels and casinos
Disadvantages: Sleazy in places, a few days isn't long enough to see it all

...Las Vegas is often compared to Blackpool but on a far greater scale - yes there are bright lights and hotels in both resorts the comparison really does stop there. So is Las Vegas all it is cracked up to be? In my opinion nothing could have prepared me for what I saw in my 6 days in Las Vegas - I'd seen all the television programmes raving about it and I'd spoken to many friends and relatives who had been - all spoke very highly of Vegas but all warned us that we wouldn't want more than a couple of days there - I was sure that a fortnight wouldn't be long enough and in my opinion I was right - Las Vegas is so vast that it is impossible to cram everything into a few days - although I did my damned hardest to try!!! We rented a car from Hertz, and 2-night accommodations in Best Western Tuscany hotel in Las Vegas. As always, we visited the tourist information centre before we set off for the day. There, we found some interesting places to visit, maps to obtain etc. For a 3-day visit, we had a great time. Native American Pow-Wow First day out, we followed instructions provided by the guide at the tourist information centre to the closest Pow-Wow near Las Vegas. Advantages: Unlike anything you'll ever see, an amazing holiday
Disadvantages: 'porn slappers' and time share salesmen

...I spent the whole of the last academic year in the USA as part of my degree course, the last month of which was spent relaxing in California, where my fiance lived. We decided to go on a short Vegas trip to celebrate my birthday-it was definately the best birthday ever! We flew in from Fresno, CA, which is about 400 miles away from Las Vegas. If you're doing what many Brits do and touring California and the surrounding states Fresno is a great point to get to Vegas from-it has great rail links (You change in Bakersfield onto a bus: The journey takes about 10 hours), a small but excellent airport (50mins by air) and roads leading across the Rockies into Vegas (400 mile drive, but American roads are much quicker than British roads.) Advantages: Fun, great music, easy to watch,great stars, good singing and dancing
Disadvantages: Ridiculous plot

...This year my husband has begun working with someone who remains a huge fan of Elvis Presley. This guy must have every film and recording that Elvis ever did. Hubby has been borrowing a few and this is how I came to sit down and watch Viva Las Vegas last week. I was never much of an Elvis fan when I was younger. As a teenager of the 1960's I was just a little out of his fan base's age group . For me he was too clean cut. Well it shows you how wrong you can be. However with age I find I can appreciate just how good his voice was and just how beautiful in appearance he was, at some stages of his life. We stayed at CIRCUS CIRCUS and paid $39 per night for a double room (booked from their web site). ...Las Vegas is the craziest city in the world. Where else can you and five friends stay in a five star pyramid big enough to hold about 50 IMAX cinemas for sixty dollars a night? Between you, not each. We turned up without having booked anything in advance and ended up in the huge booking hall at the base of the Luxor pyramid. The desk clerks can do all sorts of deals for you on the spot. Our room was a standard double, but as this is the US, that means it had two king-size doubles. We also asked for a roll-out bed, which was big enough for two people as well, so the six of us shared a room and paid 10 dollars each per night - it was cheaper than a hostel! DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

...For me only the Bellagio would do once we had decided to visit Las Vegas as the second stop on our honeymoon just over two years ago. The hotel featured in the Oceans' 11 film which I loved and I was particularly looking forward to seeing that famous water fountain show. The hotel is located roughly half way along the main Strip area in Vegas, it has an Italian theme and is beautiful to look at from the outside. It is set back from the street and the front of the building gently curves around "Lake Como". Providing it is not too windy, from 3pm in the afternoon the fountain show runs every fifteen minutes making for excellent photo opportunities and selling lots of postcards.
