Familiar concertos by Vivaldi
Advantages: Classic Concertos for Everybody
Disadvantages: Strings only!!!no woodwind...boo!
...The Four Seasons by Vivaldi
Made famous by countless car adverts and Nigel Kennedy at the Albert Hall amongst other places. This has got to the piece that all fiddle player long to play and solo in!
My first exposure to this came when I was seven, we had a hat making competition at school, the Hat Parade, and dad suggested making a musical hat and came up with the Four Seasons which was a favourite of mine as a youngster. Mum and me made the hat, which turned out to be a master piece in the end (for a 7 year old anyway!) and I won first place! I was fixed with Vivaldi for a long time after!
Even a novice in classical music would recognise some of the notation!
Vivaldi composed in Vienna, and was born 1678 and died in 1741.
In these times, most music was composed and performed by telling a story and acting and dance were very...

Vivaldi as you've never heard him
Advantages: vivid, passionate and entirely against type. Totally first class
Disadvantages: the foldout CD is bizarre!
...Before I go any further, I would like to express an extremely large THANK YOU to my dear friend Teresa, also known as zerbine28, who is not only a most friendly lady, but also an erudite and knowledgeable writer in her own right, far moreso than I could ever hope to be. It is she who so marvellously provided me with this CD, a gesture which goes far beyond the shelling out of $18 for the purchase of the music. So, in return, I say you all go out and at least read some of her reviews on my behalf. Thanks a bunch, Teresa!
Anyhow, we've all heard Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons, at least in some form. There always excerpts of them playing on the TV commercials, or something equally innocuous. This is usually accompanied by a sonorous voice announcing "Gainsborough's Furniture ? your first choice in elegant furnishings and accessories...

The stunning Four Seaons Miami
Advantages: Luxurious, elegant hotel with excellent service
Disadvantages: Loation, location, loation
...check in (yes reception is the on seventh floor!)
The lobby is large, light and airy and it's on this level that you find the hotel bar, pool and restaurant as well as a small shop. The ambiance of this hotel definitely seems to be one of understated and modern elegance with modern yet tasteful and expensive looking furnishings juxtaposed against high ceilings and more classic art work. The attention to detail is great and the place is so, so clean and immaculate (and believe me I am such a clean freak that I really notice these things!) Check-in was remarkably fast and efficient with every detail of our reservation being correct. With 10 minutes of arriving at the hotel we were in our room and the luggage was literally two minutes behind us!
The room and reservations:
We had reserved a twin room directly via the Four Seasons...

iPods , the most amazing gadgets of all time. Who would have ever beleived that such a small mod con could hold so much memory and so much to explore. The family of iPod'swhich include the smaller yet impressive iPod Shuffle which runs on flash memory , the even more interesting iPod Nano which includes a video screen which holds 8 GB memory models , and it this just gets better because the next iPod in the family is the absolutely amazing iPod Classic which can even hols up to an impressive 160 GB of memory which is just unbelievable for an almost palm sized mp3 player, you just have to agree these are just so amazing. I bought my iPod from my cousin for a very good price of £150.00 , considering they are around £250 if you purchase them in a shop or online...

Outstanding new recording!
Advantages: Exciting playing, premiere recordings
Disadvantages: It's another Four Seasons
...Why on earth has yet ANOTHER recording of the Four Seasons been released? That's what I asked myself when this advance copy of Giuliano Carmignola and the Venice Baroque Orchestra playing Vivaldi's best-known work arrived. (Released 18th September 2000)
Firstly, this recording has not only the Seasons, but also premiere recordings of three other Vivaldi Violin Concertos - RV257 in Eb, RV376 in Bb and RV211 in D. Secondly, Carmignola was given access to the original manuscripts of the Seasons and has corrected the errors commonly found in the performing scores. Thirdly, this is absolutely the best recording in recent years.
The sound is crisp and bright and very 'live' - if you turn the sound up high enough you can hear the players breathing in sympathy with the music. Carmignola plays like one inspired by Vivaldi himself...

An absolute Classic
Advantages: This doesn't have room, this has aircraft hangars. Great iPod
Disadvantages: Few small problems, nothing major though
...Why would you want to have so much memory inside your MP3 player you might ask, well, why not? Before I purchased the 160GB iPod Classic, I owned a 256mb Goodmans MP3 player, which only held 30-40 songs. I then was given a 2GB iPod Nano for my birthday and I thought that 2GB was a lot considering I didn't really have much music on my computer at the time. But as I started downloading music and buying more CD's, I started to acquire a lot of tracks that would require a lot of space. Then I had so much, it was quite a task trying to sift out 2GB of music worthy enough to go onto my iPod. Then I started downloading U2 bootlegs at 100MB (approx.) a show and this was the final straw, I was in need of a bigger capacity MP3 player.
So, after much thought and the release of the new iPod Classics at the time I decided upon the Classic...

Four reasons to read Different Seasons
Advantages: frequent breaks in stories, well written, cheap
Disadvantages: small writing, swearing
.... The balance of power shifts from one character to the other, each wanting to gain the upper hand. The man feels revulsion for the grinning boy, and yet still does whatever he asks, as he feels he?s being blackmailed ? he even dons an old soldier?s uniform, just for Todd?s amusement.
Denker's inner demons are brought to the surface by a kid, and he has to fight with the knowledge of his past actions. Meanwhile Todd thinks he wants to know all the gruesome details, but soon his grades start to fall, he?s talking to himself, lying to his parents and his sleep is interrupted by cruel dreams. Just who is winning the mind games?
Nasty and disturbing. But compelling reading.

Four Seasons in One Day
Advantages: Makes gameplay more exciting, more possibilities
Disadvantages: Addictive, takes up a lot of disc space
...points, age, name, personality, fitness, starsign, wants needs and aspirations.
The 'Wants' and 'Fears' bars show what the sims would and would not like to do. If you fulfill a want, the sims earn aspiration points which can entitle you to buy new objects and grow up happy. Fulfill a fear and your sim can become unhappy...in extreme cases this leads to them going mad, begging on the street, talking to a flour bag baby or being hassled by the social bunny!
Each Sim minute is one of our seconds and you can fast forward play so that you skip boring things like when they are asleep or at work. This means you can go through all four seasons in one day.

Ipod is a classic
Advantages: Plenty of storage
Disadvantages: Battery could do with a updating
...I have had my ipod classic for nearly two years now and ive only ever had one fault with it, and even then apple sent a U.P.S van out with package, i returned it with the driver and the ipod was sent back to me full circle in three days. I have owned the ipod shuffle and the video and i would have to say the classic is the best. The menus are easy to minovure around and the coverflow is a very nice touch. The cover flow enables you to find the album just by remembering what the cover looked like, sound like it cannot be hard to forget a fav track, with 160gig its easily done so you will be thankfull of the cover flow after twenty minutes of searching. The video play back is crisp and smooth and even with such a small screen it is a joy to watch your favourite movies on. All the music and videos, and pictures, are sync easily and with not...
