...The Olympus VN-3100 is known as a Dictation Machine, but I like to simply call it a portable voice recorder. In size it is not very big, thus being portable. It measures in at a length of 10 cm, a width of 3.5 cm and an overall depth of 1.7 cm. The top end of the the device has a depth of 1.3 cm and the bottom end which contains the batteries has a depth of 1.7 cm.
The device is made in China, like many things are nowadays. The Olympus VN-3100 does not have a simple on/off button, but instead has a HOLD button on the top left hand side. To turn on the device you simply hold the HOLD button and pull it in a downwards direction. This in turn will turn on the device ready to be used. To turn it off push the HOLD button in an upwards direction.
On the left-hand side there is also an area into which a USB cable is inserted in order to...

Review of Olympus VN-3100
...This Sony VAIO BZ12VN is another new laptop from sony. Its one of their full sized laptops rather than the smaller notebooks that they have been bringing out and seemingly concentrating no recently.
The installed ram on this laptop is a massive 4gb, meaning its not just fast, its extremely fast. Loading up and running even the most demanding programs seem a breeze.
Also above average is the amount of hard drive that this laptop has. It has a fantastic 320gb of storage space for all those media needs and data needs too.
This amount of space is well more than enough for me and should be enough for nearly everyone too as it is quite a spacious hard drive.
The laptop also has a quite nice 15.4 inch TFT screen, this is the average size for laptop screens, it might make the laptop a little bigger, and therefore less portable but it...
Advantages: Practical and Efficient Disadvantages: Slightly tedious uploading
...I am currently studying in my first year at university, but have experienced some problems with attending lectures and figured it would be a sensible idea to ensure that i have a record of the lectures i have missed. Unfortunitly my university has not started to release podcasts of lectures yet so that was not an option. Anyhow i purchased the VN340 and lent it to a friend in advance of when i knew i had a lecture. Of course i have not actually had much practical use personally, I just have an account of the quality of the recording.
The only drawback i have experienced is that the uploading and software required when uploading the files onto my computer was a bit time consuming, but not to an extent where it put me off purchasing the product.
Firstly the account my friend gave of his experience in using it was highly possitive; he...

Review of Olympus VN240
Advantages: Small and lightweight, records voices from your hand to your pocket in any recording mode: HQ, SP or LP. Disadvantages: Does not have backlight for the LCD display.
...Olympus VN-3600 is an extended version of the earlier two, low-capacity models: the VN-900 and VN-1800. Its size is as small as a mobile phone and the weight of it, is very light.
The VN-3600 is a big brother of earlier VN series (larger memory). You wouldn't need worry about the storage capacity, as it's capable of recording at an extended period of time.
The built-in memory size is 32MB (non removable/exchangeable).
There are simple features such as record, stop, play, forward/reverse tracking or skip, and erase. It also matches its design, not too crowded and not too empty.
Additional buttons include: DISPLAY (for date, time, and time remaining) and MENU/FOLDER (select up to 4 folders for easy navigation). It's capable of storing 100 files per folder (depending on the recording length).
In the MENU mode, there are...

Review of Olympus VN3600
Advantages: 16 hours recording time, small Disadvantages: Cannot edit recording at a later date
...When I was revising for my GCSE's I recorded all of my notes onto tape. I listened to these as often as possible: when eating my breakfast, when going to sleep or when I was making cards. I found that this was very effective although I did have two main problems. First of all, it was a nuisance having to keep changing the tape for each subject (I only recorded one topic of a subject per side of a tape and I was studying at least 9 subjects each with at least two topics. So as you can imagine I had quite a few tapes!) My second main problem was when I played it back when going to sleep, the tape continued to whirr after the speaking had finished. So, for Christmas, I asked for a digital voice recorder and I received the Olympus VN 1000.
It is small and has a clip so you could clip it onto your top pocket etc. The voice recorder is...

Review of Olympus VN 1000
Advantages: SMALL,LIGHT,QUALITY OF SOUND,FUNCTIONS. Disadvantages: None
....
Simple to operate, a' hold' switch on the side operates as on / off. A menu wheel, like many mobile phones allows you to stop/play/locate recordings with ease. There are separate record, erase, display and menu keys.
The Dictaphone has a clear screen, which displays all the information you need such as; battery life, folder, time remaining to record, date and time.
Digital technology means no tapes to replace or get tangled as with the old type Dictaphones.
TOP TIP!
As there is no tape please note that if you want to save your recordings then make sure you get the PC version (i.e. VN-120PC) as this has a USB terminal for connection to your computer.
There are three levels of recording quality and hence differing recording times.
HQ - 43 mins approx.
SP - 65 mins approx.
LP - 121 mins approx.
Two levels of sensitivity...

Review of Olympus VN120
Advantages: Solid and Reliable Disadvantages: Running costs
...The Xerox Phaser 6125vn comes from a long line of thoroughbreds, Xerox are experts at turning out solid printers and they even look good. The print quality is more than adequate and there print speed is ok too.
This printer is great for small offices, Estate Agents seem to like them and I can see why, they are reliable and ideal for printing house info with colour pictures of "nice fixer uppers".
There are a couple of drawbacks however, Xerox toner is not cheap so running costs can be a little on the high side, also getting this printer repaired once its out of warrantee can be frustrating, Xerox will repair but there prices go through the roof and getting parts is an expensive and torturous ordeal if you want to fit them yourself, I have to order bits from France and it can take up to 14 days.
Having said that The Xerox Phaser 6125vn...

...Olympus Digital Voice Recorder; a piece of art from the latest technology. Its size is as small as a mobile phone and the weight of it, is very light.
The VN-1800 is the "middleman" between VN-900 and the VN-3600. You won't need to think about the price and storage capacity, whether it's too little or too much for a standard user.
The built-in memory size is 16MB (non removable/exchangeable).

Review of Olympus VN1800
Advantages: fast, looks good. Disadvantages: could have more storage space, but for me its fine.
...This Sony VAIO BX51VN / BX51XP is yet another laptop from the Sony vaio range, and also another fantastic laptop from this range. It takes the newest of technology, and the brand new designs from Sony, and puts it all into one laptop which functions just as good as it looks.
One thing this laptop is great for, is defiantly media needs, its great for loading all your music onto and even has a built in speaker to play music out of.
Its also great for watching movies on and playing games on, this is due to its Intel GMA X3100 video card which helps it in running the newest of games, and even the future games.
There is also windows media player pre installed and a lot of video software like: roxio easy media creator 9, Sony click to DVD, win DVD and Sony sonic stage mastering studio 2.4. This laptop also comes with a couple...
