...♪♫INTRODUCTION♪♫ I recently wrote a review of Alison Moyet?s Raindancing. In the conclusion, I said that she had recently released an album called ?Voice? ? in September 2004, and that I planned to buy it soon, so you can imagine my delight when Santa delivered it in my Christmas stocking! For a brief synopsis of Alison Moyet?s career see my previous review of Raindancing. I don?t want to fill this review with history, but rather concentrate on just how great this album is. This has got to be one of the most unique recordings released by any artist in a very long time. I knew I would like it, but I didn?t know that I would love it and feel as passionate about this release as I do. It truly is the most spectacular, amazing, stunning, exceptional, magnificent CD to hit the shelves in the last few years...

Simple but effective

Advantages: Good quality, easy to use and very small
Disadvantages: Probably a bit dated now

Review of Little Voice (DVD)

Voices of a Distant Star

Advantages: Stunning visuals, fantastic music, touching storyline.
Disadvantages: Character models slightly off, naive core values are easily criticised.

...well as epic space quests. The art and animation provoked a less mixed reaction from me. The backgrounds are lush and dynamic, if a bit heavy on bloom effects. There are plenty of spectacular views. However, the character?s faces seem strangely bulbous and angular, the overall lack of character animation beyond small movements suggesting a general lack of confidence in that department. Everything else, while quite uninspired, is still animated smoothly but lacks the outlandishness that is a big part of anime?s appeal to me. Generic sci-fi elements such as ancient ruins and spaceship battles are all well implemented, but rarely impress beyond their technical proficiency. While originally voice-acted by Shinkai and his fiancé, a professional recording was produced for the DVD release. I can?t comment reliably on the Japanese dub, but...

Finding His Voice

Russell was asked to sing at Old Trafford and he received a massive welcome and was surprised at the popularity he received from his voice, from, this Russell managed to get a season working in Blackpool with Lilly Savage but he realised that he still had to work hard if he was going to make it. The Colonel had sent one of his tapes of to Cliff Richard and it would soon turn out to be the break he needed and he soon found he had a record contract. This is when his hard work began and he would be on a roller coaster for the next few years, not only in the UK but in America also. The rollercoaster and the income he was getting enabled Russell to get himself out of debt and finally be in a situation where he could live comfortably. Unfortunately all the hard work paid...

Voice of an Angel???????

Advantages: Good for upsetting opera lovers
Disadvantages: You could lose the will to live

...it has more than just Florence Foster Jenkins on it. The best (or rather, the worst) is saved till last. One day (a date I haven?t yet discovered) two people, Jenny Williams and Thomas Burns, walked into the RCA recording studios and asked to record some extracts from Gounod?s opera, ?Faust? at their own expense and for their own use. RCA eventually persuaded them to release the record for public enjoyment (I think that?s the right word). The results are almost indescribable; though as I?m supposed to be describing them I?ll do my best. If Madame Jenkins? voice was merely off key, these two have no tonal quality whatever. Indeed, it?s not clear from which of their bodily orifices the sound is coming. I would give a track-by-track commentary to this CD but I haven?t been able to bring myself to it all the way through. To date they have had eighteen top ten singles , including three number ones. Their style of music consists of pop and electro pop. Girls Aloud : Off The Record was actually a six-part series that Girls Aloud recorded for E4. The series was then released on DVD in the United Kingdom in 2006. The show comes under the reality-tv genre. The show follows Girls Aloud on their day to day life as part of one of Britian's top girl bands.. Classical voices to relax and uplift

Advantages: Good background listening
Disadvantages: Odd mixture of music on the Uplifting disc

...of church music. The first time I heard this piece I found it hard to get into. It seemd a bit discordant and there isn't really a tune running through it which you can hang onto. But now I've listened to it many more times I find it quite hypnotic. The 40 voices of the choir are divided up into 8 groups, to give a very powerful and moving effect. Wonderful. 12 Sibelius - 'Be Still My Soul'. This music was originally part of Sibelius's Finlandia, composed between 1899-1900. It was later adapted by the composer for use as a hymn tune, though in fact the words are much older than the music. They were written in the eighteenth century by Katherina von Schlegel. This particular recording is by Katherine Jenkins. I find it very calming. 13 Robbins - 'In Paradisum'. This piece won a competition run by Classic FM in 2007 to compose...

...I first came across Sara Bareilles a few months ago while I was looking at my friend's Myspace profile who lives in Los Angeles. I noticed that the song was Love Song by Sara Bareilles. I had never heard of her before but really liked Love Song. She is really well known in America but had not yet made her debut in the UK yet. A few months later, around April time, I heard Love Song on my local radio station. I then realised that her song's were now gracing the shores of the United Kingdom. Little Voice, which is her debut album, was released on 16th June, two months after her first UK single Love Song was released.
