Cordless VOIP Phones with "Messenger" Style Set-up

...These Phones have everything you could want and for less than £64 a bargain. They are basically "Messenger" Phones! You no longer need to be at your PC or using your wifi laptop and mine works down at the end of the garden. It took me a little while to set-up (being a mere woman), but with the free tech help I managed it and now have all my family and buddies stored in the handset. I can make and receive free calls using my broadband connection. You can use just a land line or both apparently. I can see who is online from my contact list (it is a bit like a yahoo messenger set-up), and it holds up to 100 buddies. The screen is in colour, a good size and has a great back light making it easy to see. It also has a speaker phone facility but I haven't figured out the best way to use it. Simple yet functional

Advantages: Cheap, simple to set up and use
Disadvantages: Wired and does not have lcd screen

...I recently purchased two of these phones from eBay for around £15 each. This is relatively cheap in the market of VoIP phones which is likely because the lack of a big brand name. VoIP is voice over internet protocol, which is basically inputting voice on to your computer then it being sent via the internet to a receiver and vice versa, which results in a conversation! This acts like a phone line over the internet between you and another person. This phone is advertised as being fully Skype compatible as well as other utilities such as Yahoo and MSN. In my experience it works fine with Skype and MSN but I have not tried Yahoo. A nice introduction to VOIP

Advantages: Free phone calls to other users, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Software is a bit buggy

..., and I called them for free, without a hitch. It's a great tool to keep in contact with people, wherever they are! One issue which really irritates me however is the software itself, say if there is a problem with the Internet, the software will disconnect you from the service. Understandable, I know, but when you do get back online, and click "login", the software doesn't register with your phone again. So the phone does nothing, the only way to get around this is to restart the software so you can begin calling again. In conclusion, it's a great little phone, an excellent introduction to VOIP and brilliant for keeping in contact with the world. Reccomended for University students!...

...So here we have it; a film shot in 10 days, only 81 minutes long, and pretty much entirely set in a phone booth... How good can it be? I asked myself when it was first released. People told me to watch it, and I thought why not, but for some odd reason it's taken me until it was on television last night to watch it. The film starts off with a publicist (Stu, played by Colin Farrell) who the audience instantly takes a dislike to because of the way he is treating people. WE see a few more minutes of a little background of the guy, until he walks into a Phone Booth about 5 minutes into the film, then BANG! The Freecom Internet Phone

Advantages: Sleek, Light, Good sound quality, 30 mins Skype voucher and 2 yrs warranty.
Disadvantages: Only works when connected to a computer it is not standalone like some internet phones are.
