...Running for a length of around two kilometres along Brighton's seafront Volk's Electric Railway is the oldest operating electric railway system in the world. Established in 1883 it was not the first electric rail system of its kind, that award goes to a similar system at Lichterfelde, Berlin that predates this one by a couple of years. The Glass Dome of the Partliament

...We took the S-bahn trains and got off at the new Berlin Hauptbahnhof central station. The outstanding design of the station houses 2 floors of shops and it's one of the largest and most modern stations in Europe. A short walk from the central train station is the Reichstag German Parliament. The glass dome at the roof of the German parliament, designed by Norman Foster, gives you a bird's eye view of the city.The dome with its mirrored central funnel symbolizes that the German government keeps no secrets from its people. At the entrance of the parliament, displayed the quote Dem deutschen Volke(meaning To the German people), another indication of democracy in Germany. Crackdown and buy it!

...bought this game recently pre owned for about £6 at Game expecting to be an average GTA copy cat. It is created by the GTA creator and when released had a Halo 3 beta code which was why it was so popular. You might be thinking this is just a rubbish game with a code for one of the most popular games ever. This game is a free roaming, shooting game only available on the Xbox 360 console. The idea is you are working with the Peacekeepers basically Police to get rid of the gangs in the city. Each gang controls their own island and the gangs are Los Muertos, The Volk and Shai-Gen. The enigma inside

Advantages: Good nights, more discerning crowd, good value

...Enigma is situated on Ship Street above the Jazz Rooms, so at least in winter you don't get completely frozen by the searing wind coming off the Downs when you leave it (unlike the clubs on the seafront!) As the Zap, Escape and Honey club descend into more and more epic house cheesiness, places like the Volks, Jazz Rooms and Enigma are becoming a favoured destination with those who have more discerning clubbing tastes throughout the week. One night in particular at the Enigma which has a lot to recommend it is Phonic Hoop. A mixture of deeper house, beats 'n breaks, funk, hip-hop and any other musical nuggets you can, it has succeeded in attracting some 'name' DJs. So the music is pumping, the only downside is that as it is not on the seafront, the night must end at 2:00am. The club itself is a bit rough-hewn but not overly so...

The effect of Ghostwatch was catastrophic, by the Monday after screening an order was placed on Ghostwatch preventing it from ever being screened again by the BBC. Because apparently an estimated 50% of the audience had no clue this was a drama. As the story unfolded elderly viewers had heart attacks and other similar ailments, pregnant women went into shock and gave birth prematurely and one young man so affected by what he saw as the end of the world killed himself. The BBC had more phone calls and letters of complaint than they ever had about anything else. This is a very difficult programme to review; I can't share my total...

Review of Ghostwatch (DVD)

Going downhill

Advantages: Lots to do
Disadvantages: Going downhill ?

..., pinnacles and minarets, in the style of a moghul's palace in India. Do go inside to see the elegant furnishings. It's nice to wander round the Lanes too, narrow, winding cobbled streets with antique shops and our favourite vegetarian restaurant Food for Thought. The seafront isn't far away and the Volks railway runs for 1.5 miles from the Palace pier to Black rock. If you are feeling energetic you can walk along the seafront to Hove which is less hectic and much more relaxed than Brighton (do visit the great Italian restaurant called Duo Topolino in Church Street when you are there). Brighton also has a racecourse, a football team playing in the Second Division at the Withdean Stadium and an excellent aquarium. There are also three outdoor and two indoor swimming pools and one of the largest marinas in Europe....
