VW BEETLE 1966 1300

Advantages: Great fun, a classic worth experiencing
Disadvantages: Needs maintenance, not easy to use as a daily driver

...I thought I'd write a review for all those VW fans out there who are thinking of buying their own classic vw beetle 1300. i bought my 1300 1966 bug (Ermintrude) 2 years ago, after looking for a year I found my perfect beetle. She was sea blue with a cream leather interior and restored. I have since had to sell my baby for financial reasons, but her purchase was something that I will never regret. They may not be fast or 100%reliable but the joy and fun of driving it is unbeatable. I wouldn't recommend a classic volkswagen to someone who doesn't know or good mechanic or works on cars themselves as they do need constant maintenance, but parts are good value and readily available. I defied everyone who said you couldnt run a vw beetle as an everyday car, I frequently drove 200 mile journeys and she ran like a dream at 70mph. It...

VW Beetle 1303s Type 1 Bug

Advantages: Rare Worth Money great fun head turners fantastic club members
Disadvantages: only NOS available limited passenger & luggage space 27mpg

...I currently own a 1303s type 1 vw beetle. They are great fun and come with mcphersoin struts as standard unlike the other beetles. They were converted from 6v to 12v in the late 60's early 70's. Not much room in the back for rear passengers and most have now been modified. it is rare to find an original un touched vw beetle. there can be plenty of fiddly annoying faults with these cars however the good news is that most of these can be simple and free/cheap to fix. a common one would be the fuel gauge not reading correctly for example tank empty at a quarter tank or full yet only reading 3/4 full. this is as simple as correcting the adjustment screws behind the gauge by simply pulling out the speedo and turning the 2 adjustment screws that are behind the gauge. DO NOT BUY THE NEW SHAPE VW BEETLE 2,0 its awful

Advantages: streed cred (if youre a woman)
Disadvantages: Gas guzzler, high tax class, hard to park, tiny boot, patchy dealer service

...I own a 2001 2 litre beetle and it is the WORST car i have ever owned. Yes it looks great but its a pig to drive (try to NOT scratch the arches), driving position awful, our car has been in and out the garage with various problems including electrical issues, steering problems, all sorts of stuff and now the sunroof leaks. We had AWFUL service from the main VW dealer in plymouth too which didnt help. The car DRINKS fuel, is wobbly at speed if a small gust of wind is around, and the boot is about a big as a squirrels pocket and you can fit about 5 or 6 shopping bags and thats it, full! For a car of its size the cabin is cramped and dark. If it wasnt still on finance payments i would get rid of the car today. verdict:? Buy it if you want to look like a woman, or a plonker...

Advantages: Stylish, Uncommon, Smooth, Comfortable, Sleek!
Disadvantages: Resticted Viewing, Lack of same in back,

...The beetle all in all is fantastic! Looks fab, drives well, handles corners brilliently, esp when the ESP kicks in. I do feel that is it slightly over priced, the money you would pay cud get u a top of the range car from another dealer. Pay attention to the viewing out the back and to the corners of the windscreen, sometimes the design makes it hard to see. having such a big dash makes it hard to judge sometimes, but you will soon adjust to this. Had the car from new for a year now, and not had any mechanical problems, body work is also still looking great! Acceleration on this model is also great, managing a top speed of 110mph. Standard sound system could possibly be improved, have to have speakers replaced once and passenger speaker is going again, tho when speakers arnt breaking they sound great. ...You never see a Beetle game these days because of all the new fangled electronic toys that abound our stores. Not that there is anything wrong with computers and the like but what happens when there is a prolonged power cut? What can you do? Well if you've got some light via candles and some paper, pens and a die you can while away the time with gaiety and laughter until the power comes back on, by playing Beetle. In fact over half a century ago many church halls would hold beetle drives as an alternative to the standard whist drive. We were so easily amused in them days.   NEW BEETLE, A MUCH BETTER BUG

Advantages: The uniqueness of the whole package. Turns heads like no other small car. Turns a corner like a sportscar. Surprising fuel economy. Flower vase.
Disadvantages: It’s no getaway-car, lack of rear headroom and boot space, constant nose and fingerprints on the windows.
