My trial of Volvo present the V50 2.0 D S
Review of Volvo V50 2.0DS 5dr Sportswagon by
ovi123
Advantages: speed and space
Disadvantages: fuel consumption
...I am also fond of Volvo,a brand which I trust most.Volvo always gives me impression of high security, straightforward and trusty. And I also regard the Volvo cars are welled designed to have a elegant apperance and comfortable inside room.Volvo V50 2.0DS 5dr Sortswagon has 6 speed manul gearbox and almost as fast as you want!It is no wonder that the sales of Volvo attain a peak in the US in 2003.There is no reason that it wouldn't be popular if you are a lover of speed .The fuel conseption of it might be a little larger compared to smaller cars but it is just OK to drive in the wild.I love driving cars to wildness, there is more beauty of the nature and with my cars sppeding up,I hawls loudly and chheers up,that is really wonderful experience for me.In a word,I think this car is a good choice for me and maybe for you too.So I think...

Was nice to be in'volvo'ed
Review of Volvo 440 by
Buckle1
Advantages: Looking for a reliable family car?
Disadvantages: At my age, the image
...I learnt to drive in my dads volvo 440 and continued to use the car until aged 21. Since then I have had my own 'medium sized' car. Therefore looking back I now appreciate the good and bad points of the Volvo.
The advantages for me were the smoothness and stability under braking matched with the invaluable experience of accelerating through 5 gears. The disadvantages were the 'old mans' image and that the vehicle was too big/heavy to manoeuvre for a first time car.
My resulting opinion is that a 440 Volvo which can now only be brought second hand would make an ideal purchase for a family looking for long lasting reliability, comfort and safety. There is ample space in front, back and boot. Features including electric windows, central locking and standard Volvo suspension make it a comfortable ride.
For the driver, power steering...

Owner's review
Review of Volvo 340 by
ernestb
Advantages: Mainly as above
Disadvantages: Volvo's exorbitant charges for spares
...Volvo 340 DL 1.4 Hatchback
The classic Volvo design, chunky but functional.
The seating is comfortable and supportive whilst the driving position is excellent. All round visibility is quite good although the front headrests tend to get in the way when reversing. Steering is positive but not too sensitive which makes for more relaxed driving especially on long journeys.
Mine is a 1988 model with over 100,000 miles on the clock and the engine seems good for another 100,000.
With the spare wheel contained under the bonnet there is ample luggage space.
Would I recommend one to a friend? Yes....

1999 Volvo V70
Review of Volvo V70 2.5 D by
LimpBizkitUK
Advantages: Swift, Well Made, Indestructable
Disadvantages: depreciation, service costs
...The Volvo V70 estate was brought into the market by Volvo to replace its ageing 850 range. The 1997-2000 V70's boast several exterior improvements over the 850 including reshaped front and side lights, and body coloured bumpers and door handles.
We bought our 1999 V70 for about £13,000, though expect to pay up to 5 grand more if you decide to buy through a dealer or specialist.
The car is a 2.5L Turbo Diesel, and was our first diesel car. We were surprised at the acceleration of the car, and even though it sounds like a van when your in traffic, it has a nice 'howl' when you put the pedal to the metal. Official Volvo stats record the V70 TD getting to 60 in around 8.5 seconds. The car does a little under 40mpg on the motorway, and a little under 35mph when accelerating heavily in towns or in traffic. There is also a lack of the huge...

Volvo 850 2.0 10v
Review of Volvo 850 by
aj3001
Advantages: Got the power, big, safe
Disadvantages: drinks fuel, lack of power in low rev range
...A large volvo 850 saloon, 2 litre engine, used my traffic and undercover police, I picked up the keys, stepped inside, the first thing you notice is how comfortable it is, with lots of room inside, loads of legroom, headroom, I put the key in and turn it, you hear a loud roar from the engine, and think this could be fun, pulling away I became disappointed, I have seen rolling road graphs and know the high power is in the higher revs but the volvo 850 I found hugely disappointing.
Comfortable, true luxory and you know your going to be safe but I couldn't help but be disappointed, but there was no raw power there I know this may sound stupid because yes it can wheel spin at 70mph and give bmw's and porsches a run for their money.
Fuel economny is as most cars, parts can get expensive, but I think it's all worth it knowing your kids...

A 19yr old in a Volvo
Review of Volvo 440 by
elsley
Advantages: Low insurance, handles well
Disadvantages: Out-dated interior
...A 19yr old in a Volvo?? Thats what they all said when I brought my Volvo 440 Xi. I think that getting the volvo was a good move because of the reliabilty and the low insurance group. Before I got the car I had a Vauxhall Cavalier 1.4L and then the when I got the 440 I found out that the 1.8 injection engine was only one group higher. Im paying around £600 for thrid party fire and theft but thats with 2 years no claims. I think that the group for my model is 7.
Being only 19 I got my fair share of abuse from friends who repeatly told me that "A Volvo is an old mans car", but I myself am happy with the car.
Admittly although it is an L-reg (1993) the interior does seem out-dated compared to the likes of fords and vauxhalls of the same age but the 1994 model had a new image with new interior, different headlights and colour coded bumpers...

Volvo Trucks UK - fantastic employers
Review of Volvo Trucks GB by
mesci
Advantages: Good office facilities, opportunity to travel
Disadvantages: IT system leave a bit to be desired
...Volvo Trucks within the UK are good employers. I have worked with them for over 3 years now, and am thoroughly enjoying this working relationship.
The head office is medium-sized yet functional, and hosts not only Volvo Trucks but also Volvo Buses; Volvo Financial Services; Volvo Information Technology; Volvo Group UK and BRS. This provides agood base to network and collaborate between the different companies to better improve the services offered to our customers.
I have been lucky in that my role involves travelling to the Volvo Truck Corporation Head Office in Gothenburg, Sweden - which is a fantastic opporutnity to have. I get to travel approximately 6-7 times per year, and have so far this year been to Belgium, Warsaw and Gothenburg (on a few occasions).
I also get a lot of opportunities to work with colleagues from...

Volvo - makes my family feel safe
Review of Volvo V40 1.8 by
mkberridge
Advantages: The whole feel of safety, I drive my 18 month old daughter around and will never choose another make of car!
Disadvantages: Heavier on the fuel than I am used to, not drastically but costs more to run than my old 1 litre.
...I have owned a volvo v40 for nearly 2 years which I purchased from new. I was expecting so needed something bigger than my KA. My husband was also worried about safety so we opted for the Volvo. A little more expensive than we wanted to pay but it has been worth every penny. We travel long distances for holidays and visiting friends and it is always a smooth ride. My daughter hardly ever wakes up as it is quiet inside. I am not up to date on looking after a car, but I send it in for its service and touch wood there have been no problems. I think the car has lost some of the old view of what a volvo is whilst still keeping the safety and nice handling, I would recommend this car to anybody with a young family. I think the family pack is very helpful, child locks operated from the front and booster seats....

Owning a Volvo S80
Review of Volvo S80 2.9 by
Bigbadbob
Advantages: Extremely well built reliable and comfortable vehicle
Disadvantages: Very low to the ground and can be thirsty on fuel
...The Volvo S80 is the Volvo flagship and inherits the build quality and reliability that Volvo is renown for. The smooth six-cylinder engine is quiet and reliable but if pushed can be thirsty with less than 18 mpg. Its not a BMW 528 and so you cant throw the S80 around in the same manner; but on the other hand its built with so many safety features you are at least safe and extremely comfortable. Its capable of 145 mph where the plod turn a blind eye and at 100 mph your passengers will never guess your going that fast!
Volvo servicing is excellent and the agents tend to “look” after you like no other dealers, but again don’t expect cheap prices this is a £30,000+ car and when it does need parts, they wont be cheap!
Comfort is the big thing with this car, the moment you sink into the leather interior and adjusting the seat, electronic...

The suprisingly quick but refined Volvo C70 T5
Review of Volvo C70 2.4 T5 coupé by
ccundall
Advantages: Very fast, suprisingly affordable
Disadvantages: Fairly rare, resprays
...I must admit that when a good friend of mine swapped his Mercedes 230 Kompressor for a Volvo C70 T5 I thought he'd made a bad judgement, this then went out of the window as soon as we got out on the road. The performance of the C70 T5 is frankly... suprisingly quick.
The T5 (turbo) in the C70 automatic will outsprint most other (if not all) cars in its class, the 0-60 is in the low 6's, but remember this car is a sophisticated cruiser for business men rather than a boy racer from The Fast and the Furious.
When pushed to the limit the car absolutely flies, I hadn't heard much about the T5 before this but for those who haven't I really recommend taking a look at them. For some reason though you can now only get a convertible C70 T5 as new in this country - if you want the hardtop you will have to import it. Volvo have put the T5...
