Ally's back... and so too is Vonda Shepherd

Advantages: Lots of excellent cover versions
Disadvantages: A few mundane tracks

...Vonda Shepherd is back, this time with her selection of songs (mainly cover versions) from the second series of Ally McBeal. To be fair it is a pretty decent album. An interesting transistion from the album which accompanied the first series is that this album is geared more towards Shepherd than the show. She appears a great deal more on the album sleeve and inlay card than on the first album, although on occasion she does share space with Calista Flockhart. Again most of the songs are covers, but Shepherd has an upbeat sound all of her own. Perhaps it serves to show that Shepherd is as vital to the show as any actor/actress now. Her songs frame the story, but they are excellent in their own right. ?Vincent?, ?Crying? and ?What Becomes of the Brokenhearted? are probably the best tracks on the album, but it is one you can listen to...

Vonda's worth a listen

Advantages: Original songs by Vonda
Disadvantages: Too many covers

...Heart and soul is the second soundtrack from the TV show Ally McBeal. And it has to be said has some better songs on it than its predecessor. They're mainly heart rending songs with beautiful lyrics written by Vonda shepherd the musical star of the show. And some cover versions of mainly older classic songs such as Starry Starry night, Someday we'll be together, To sir with love, Crying and What becomes of the broken hearted. This album is made for fans of the show who have heard them playing in the background of the scenes or hopeless romantic who need a nice slow tune to settle down with on their sofa. I would recommend the first Ally McBeal album for them as well, because this also has some lovely songs on it....

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Just beautiful

Advantages: Beautiful voice, sweet and soulful
Disadvantages: A few tracks which I think dont fit the mood of the album very well, not many though

...Vonda Sheppard just has a simply beautiful voice. This is the second of the soundtrack albums to the series "Ally McBeal" and in my opinion it is a more grown up, soulful and melodic album. There are songs on this album, particularly "Baby don?t break my heart slow" and "I know him by heart" that are sung form the heart and are sure to bring a lump to the throat of many a woman in love, out of love or just plain sensitive. This is an album I like to listen to in the semi-dark, glass of wine in hand and just relaxes me. This isn?t to say there are only ballads on the album. This isn?t true. There are great upbeat songs which lift your spirits, such as "confetti". I just believe that perhaps this album is a more heartfelt, sensitive album compared to the first. ...I'm a big fan of Ally Mcbeal and this album is totally awsom! It has greatest song from Ally Mcbeal and it's fun and Ally style. I think that it's a perfect gift for all Ally fans. I have this dance teacher who's just crazy about Ally, so although I don't own this album I have listened it guite a lot. She used to play it in every lesson. So it was nice to listen it and sing along! Songs are pretty good too, they have that rhythm they're pretty guick and all! And of course Vonda Shepard has a great voice. There's lots of classics featuring in this album, lots of cover versions, but I like them. Ally has the best music of all tv series, that's partly because of Vonda!...

Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format.
