VW Passat Sport 2.0Tdi Saloon
Advantages: Size, Performance, Build Quality
Disadvantages: Electrical Problems
...A larger than average family saloon car with that little bit extra for the 'driver' in you!
I had mine from new in December 2005 and have covered almost 75000 miles in less than 2 years.
Standard equipment included 17" alloys, climate control, single cd player, dusk til down automatic lighting function and some very comfortable sports seats. I added 'cruise control' which is surprisingly not a standard option, though it is on the 'SE' and 'SEL' versions.
The 2.0TDi (140bhp) engine delivers smooth, yet powerful acceleration and its 6 speed manual gearbox is fantastic as it is very close and quick to change through the gears.
The car cruises on the motorway and gives in excess of 50mpg on a good run, and even through urban areas I have had no less than 40-45mpg returns.
It feels a well built and quality vehicle and does...

VW Bora 1.9 TDI Sport
Advantages: Climate control, Speed, Economy
Disadvantages: The name
...is a handy stowage compartment in the centre of the seats which my kids stuff full of toys - but at least they aren't scattered across the seats.
In addition to ample legroom, there is also enough height to prevent a sore head for the taller people amongst us.
~~ Performance ~~
I have no complaints in this area - 150bhp takes you from 0 - 60 in around 9 seconds according to the manual, which I have no reason to disbelieve.
Of course, do that too often and you won't get 38mpg around town or 62mpg on the motorway.
I haven't noticed any major turbo-lag but I do find that 1st gear is quite restrictive when pulling away and try to get up the gears as quick as possible (6 gears in all). Fortunately, the gearbox is very forgiving and changing too soon won't have you "kangerooing" down the right.
~~ Equipment ~~
The bora is very...

Almost perfection = A 2.0TDI SE review.
Advantages: Size, running costs, Motorway muncher
Disadvantages: Not ideal for Town Driving. Not for 5 large adults.
...Been driving a 2.0TDI SE for the best part of 2 years. I have done about 60,000 miles in the car and have had very few complaints, so lets get them out of the way first.
The steering can feel a tad light at high motorway speeds if you are not carrying a lot of weight. The sensitivity of the steering wheel can lead you to contsantly adjust your steering wheel slightly every few seconds. You can however get this adjusted at your dealer (it has six settings). So this is easily fixed.
Secondly the button handbrake can take a little getting used to, especially if you do a lot of motorway miles and rarely use it. But thats just because it is a new system, not one that is faulty.
Now onto the good points.
Cruise control is fantastic. Pull the level to turn on at your current speed. Tap up for 5 more mph and tap down for 5 less mph...

VW Bora - a drivers dream
Advantages: Reliable, excellent handling, cool gadgets and good fuel consumption
Disadvantages: Not as spacious as the Passat
...An excellent all rounder. We have been using it as a family car and although their are a few complaints regarding the shortage of space at the back, the car is virtually faultless. The best thing about the Bora, as any other Bora owner will tell you, is the smooth drive. Its like your on a plane. Anyone who has driven a smaller or older car will tell you that once they got into the Bora, it was like they were driving on a velvet carpet - well nearly.
In terms of size and price, the Bora comes in between the VW Golf and the VW Passat and has the best of both worlds - the smoothness of the drive and the stature of the car.
Inside, the car feels and looks modern, especially with the many gadgets and tools. You find new gadgets every now and again which you never thought existed. Only a short while ago, after many years of ownership...

I'm off to Bora Bora
Advantages: Great drive, well made, quick
Disadvantages: Cornering, depreciation
...I am now the proud owner of a VW Bora. For those who are as unfamiliar to cars as I, Volkswagen is a major German car manufacturer with a first class reputation. Most famous for the VW Beetle (think Herbie goes to Monte Carlo and all that malarkey) and you start to put into context the long-term nature of a top draw operator.
Both the personal and company car market are ultra competitive these days. What with the government?s desire to bring prices in line with Europe and the desperation of the major manufacturers to offload their fleets, it was my recent pleasure to finally choose my first ever company car.
The market I needed to research was the saloon car as I?m the atypical family man, married with 2 kids. The major players that sprang to mind included the American giants, Ford and Vauxhall along with their European rivals MG...

2009 Scirocco GT 2.0 TSI
Advantages: Looks fantastic, build quality, good engine.
Disadvantages: Rear seats are hard to get into.
...This is our family?s newest member, a 09 plate Scirocco 2.0TSI and I?m more than impressed. There was a long wait from the factory (around 12 weeks), but it?s arrived now, and wow!
We?ll start off with the looks of the car. I?d say it?s not to everyone?s taste, because it is so different, could well be a love it or hate it type of thing. It certainly get?s looks, while driving through a small town, a teenager pointed and stood with his mouth open as we cruised past.
The build quality is very good as well, as you?d expect with a German car. We previously had a VW Passat in it?s place, which of course had a good quality of build, but this is something else! As soon as you open the doors it?s just in a different league to the 02 plate Passat.
The interior has nice sports seats as you?d expect, but what I really like is the sports seats...

Volkswagen Golf (mkV) GT TDI PD 140PS
Advantages: Well balanced handling, hugely versatile, excellent residuals
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy, not as big as some might hope
...economy and lower list prices, but the 138bhp diesel tested here is definitely not short on real-world performance.
Many testers have criticised the 2.0 litre oil-burner, but in the Golf it seems considerably less coarse than in many of the cars the engine has been donated to since its release. In fact, it makes a pretty nice noise for a diesel.
Although below 1500rpm there's very little power available, as soon as the turbo boost arrives it pulls very strongly in the lower half of the six-speed gearbox, and still manages a convincing stab at fourth and fifth. Sixth is an ideal cruising gear, letting the GT pull a lazy but economical 1600rpm on A-road cruises.
Its steering is well-weighted if not especially precise, and combined with an ideally-positioned gearstick the GT Sport is good fun to drive, particularly considering it...

Overlooked refinement
Advantages: Smooth, quiet, sophisticated
Disadvantages: None!
...The VW advert for this car implies that someone would give any excuse to drive it - and they are right. This is a fantastic and very overlooked car. With an image of being merely a booted Golf, like its predecessor, the Vento, this is in fact a completely separate car. Quiet, refined, powerful, ideal for cruising, the car is a joy to drive, despite the power steering feeling slightly light at times. The switches are all satisfyingly large, and whilst the radio takes some getting used to, the overall feel is of a very well put together machine. There is a range of engine sizes, with the 2.0 being plenty powerful enough, and the high-rev acceleration is quite breathtaking. It is comfortable as well, the seats are fully adjustable, and the boot is enormous. All in all, a wonderful car....

Let me introduce you to Dora the Bora
Advantages: Good looking, great fuel economy
Disadvantages: Cheaper similar cars available
...that because Boras are not as popular as Passats and Golfs we got alot more equipment for less money.
Boras traditionally tend to be company cars so you know that they are good for motorway mileage, have been serviced regularly and anything that needed doing has been done straight away, also you are more likely to get extras included. Ours has a 6 disc CD player, alloy wheels, trip computer, full electric windows and mirrors and ari conditioning amongst other things.
VW's have recently done quite poorly in JD Power surveys, but the Bora is actually further up than the Golf and Passat in the most recent one.
Overall it is a alot of car for your money and being a VW know it is well built and will last years if looked after....

AUDI'D RICHADA RATE THE A4 2.0 TFSI S LINE?
Advantages: Acceleration. Style. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Power Delivery. Driving Position. Price. Equipment. Soulless. Fuel Consumption.
...THE GARAGE?
At 4703mm long and 1826mm wide, unless you have a particularly small one, yes it should indeed fit inside your garage.
WHICH SPECIFIC MODEL?
At £27,830 (aren?t these modern day ?Cortinas? getting pricy?) and packing 211bhp, the Audi A4 2.0TFSi S Line, that I am reviewing here, is towards the top of a bewilderingly comprehensive range of models. It is the most powerful and expensive four cylinder front wheel drive A4 saloon.
The A4 range starts at £20,485 for the 118bhp 1.8TFSi and tops out at a whopping £33,700 for the 237bhp 3.0 TDi Quattro (four wheel drive) Executive S Line. With each engine configuration Audi offer a quattro (four wheel drive) variant ? indeed I will be offering an argument for not offering certain models, the 2.0TFSi included, with only front wheel drive.
IN WHAT CAPACITY AM I REVIEWING THIS CAR?
This is...
