VW Passat 1.9tdi great family car

Advantages: Great solid reliable family car
Disadvantages: It is very big

...I picked this car as a company car, i currently work as an area sales manager and when i was going through the list of choices i felt this was the best one on the list. The main reason i picked was i had a Passat before which was the old shape and it was a really good, comfortable and reliable family car. I always liked the old Passat but the new one is suberb its even better than the old one. I do about 35000 miles per year and its really comfy on long journeys. It sits great on the motorway and performs well on A and B roads too. Its a solid car and it feels solid, i feel quite safe in it. The SE spec gives you a few more luxuries than the basic spec. Included in this is cruise control, all round electric windows, centre armrest and good looking alloy wheels. I got the 1.9TDI diesel engine which has 105BHP and is quite nippy...

2006 VW POLO 1.4 Trendline with style packet

Advantages: Good allrounder, good handling, well built
Disadvantages: lack of equipment (unless paid for), low ground clearance

...small. We have a little baby and his pram won't fit into the boot unless the back seats folded down first. Once the pram is in, back seats can be returned to their original position. Fuel economy is as expected. No diffrent than the rivals. But the offical figures are a little bit on the conservative side. You will surely do burn more than stated in the owners manual. This is my fourth VW and I will probably continue using them for the forseable future. Previous ones included a Polo mk2, Golf mk2 and a 1967 Beetle. I ahe also driven a Passat TDi for work for a few years. If a VW designer is reading this: "In my view VW needs to put more extras in the cars, such as mp3 player, safety features, electric windows for the back as standart. They will make the good cars even more desirable must buys."...

VW Polo Diesel - A great car

Advantages: Easy to drive, economical
Disadvantages: drab interior

...We have had a VW Polo diesel for over 4 years now and can honestly say its been a great car, never let us down and still feels as new now even with almost 65000 miles on the clock. We had it originally in Germany and it was thrashed 100 miles a day up and down the autobahn at around 100 mph and yet still returned an average fuel consumption of 35-40 mpg. When we brought it back to the UK and consequently rarely exceeded 80mph the consumption leapt to 45-50 mpg. We've had it serviced by VW throughout and although the dealers have varied enormously in quality it hasn't mattered that much because there has never been much work to do. When we bought the car we didn't even get a test drive and it was very much on the VW name. Then about 6 months later, as our old car was collapsing, we stopped off at the VW dealer showroom, and looked at some cars. We started off in the second hand lot, and loved the Golf, but when we went into the showroom, my wife fell in love with the Polo Match. The colour sold it to me, I love the Mercato blue metallic paint, and the grey/blue interior really finished it off. I am the kind off person who either loves or hates a car, and this one gave me a really good feeling. The little touches like the grey dial surrounds, blue and red dashboard lighting, lots of storage space, purpose built storage of first aid box, and warning triangle, well thought out cabin area and flexible boot storage area (large case fits easily) add tremendous value to the car...

...days are all similar in build quality as they all comprise of similar safety features and are all partner companies to one another. Looks I believe the polo has average looks, which are simple and srong. It doesnt look aggressive but neither does it look like a girly car much like a micra or yaris! On the interior it is again simple and lacks inspiration but maybe that isnt soo important if it doesnt actually matter if it doesnt effect the driving. Summary The VW polo is proabably one of the best cars in its class, when it comes to overall performance, looks, safety and quality. However i do believe its cost and cost effectiveness need improving as does its look as the new models are becoming a bit "wishy washy" (pardon the phrase!). 2002 VW Passat 1.9TDi 130bhp

Advantages: Spacious, frugal, good performance.
Disadvantages: Looks aren't very exciting.

...I drive a 2002 (52 plate) VW Passat 1.9 TDi 130bhp for work and it has been very reliable and dependable. The engine is by far the best bit about this car - over 40mpg even when driving swiftly and very quiet whether cruising on the motorway or driving around town. The model i drive is reasonably well equipped - it has a good air conditioning system, electric mirrors, windows, sunroof etc. The only extra i would have added is a factory CD player. The seats are comfortable on long motorway drives and the road holding is good for a car of this size and weight. Interior is spacious enough to accomodate 4 adults comfortably - 5 at a push. The boot is also very spacious. I have also driven the 115bhp model and would thoroughly recommend buying the 130bhp model insead. The fuel economy isn't noticably different yet the 130bhp model is far...

Polo, The car with no holes

OK, a lot of Polos a bought by a whole spectrum of society but, the Polo's young image is one that has a firm fit with 20 somethings, such as myself. Depreciation on this car has been slow, from a new price of £11,000 around four years ago, you won't touch a decent main dealer/VW approved model for less than £6000-£7000 with around 45-50000 miles on the clock. I paid £5000 for mine with 44,000 on the clock and one owner, who never took it over about 65mph, and only did fairly nice longish runs. Therefore, I know I had a bargain... They are out there if you know where to look....
