...The Sony Ericsson W850i was the first mobile phone that I have ever opted to buy for the quality of the features rather than just on how well it coped as a mobile phone, and for this I paid £29.99 from the Carphone Warehouse on a contract with Orange. Bear with me as I explain why. I don't have an I-pod of any other MP3 players and I find it embarrassing sitting on trains with a huge CD walkman so this was ideal. The fact that it also incorporates a camera, is fairly small and doesn't weigh a ton was also a major factor when it came to parting with my pennies. The W850i is very small and fits in the palm of my hand without any trouble at all which makes carrying it around not too cumbersome. Great phone for anyone - Sony Ericsson W850i

Advantages: Excellent music capabilities, VERY strong and study
Disadvantages: A little bit thick, but not too much of a problem.

...I have owned the W850i for about 2 years, after my old mobile phone was broken. It's only the second one i've owned, but it's an excellent device - it's worked perfectly all the time even though it was already second hand when i bought it from eBay! The shape is quite thick, but this isn't a problem at all, as it's extremely sturdy and strong. The sliding style is is pretty cool, as it ensures the keys aren't too small, so sending people text messages is easier than on a lot of phones i've used. My phone is covered in scratches and dents, and even has a couple of large chunks missing from it! However, this is to be expected, as I often play basketball with it in my pocket, and sometimes stupidly play catch with the phone. Most other phones would probably not work any more considering how i've treated it, so it's good to know i can rely...

Philmeister's W850i review

Advantages: Big memory, walkman and headphones are superb, battery's not bad either

...Firstly, a bit about me: I work in a phone shop, and I am an ardent, bordering on militaristic, fan of Sony Ericssons. If the original walkman phone, the W800i, had been a woman i would have married it. It was dependable, plenty of features, and it was good fun, plus i always was a sucker for a redhead. The W850i, however, is something a bit different. The memory is great, twice as big as the W800i, and the mp3 player itself is absolutely superb. Sony Ericsson have also, wisely, gotten rid of their traditional achiles heel, the rubbish joystick which plagued the K700i, K750i and even my beloved W800i. Furthermore, for a 3G handset the battery is pretty impressive. I am a frequent, if reluctant, traveller on Britain's godawful train network, and my W850i has lasted the course of many a delayed journey without the battery packing up...

Advantages: Lots of features, 3G, good MP3 player
Disadvantages: A little fat and not the best at holding onto a signal

...applications can be rearranged on the menus by the user for easy access. All the other features work well. It isn't the best at hanging onto a signal and I have found with a N95 8GB I had 1 - 2 bars when I couldn't get a signal on the W850i. Overall a good package, there are phones with better features but you pay a premium for them. This unit offers goo value for money....

Advantages: Smart easy to use phone.
Disadvantages: not any I found really.

...I have had the W850i on contract with Orange, which I did through the internet, I get 550 mins a month and unlimited texts for £35 which saves me money. I picked the W850i through the advise of my son, as the young seem to no what is best, I like the feel of the phone it is a bit heavier than my last phone ( Samsung) but I prefer this as I know if I have mislaid it or not. I find it quite easy to use, which is a good thing as I am not to hot on today's technology. I like the look and the feel of the phone. Disadvantages: Being picky, it doesn't disconnect a call when you slide the phone down!

...floor! If the phone had a downside, it is that you have to reprogramme your brain if you've had a slider phone before. On this phone, a call does not disconnect if you slide the phone shut - you have to manually press the relevant button. Bit annoying, but you will soon get around it. I'm delighted with this phone, as you can probably tell - I would recommend it to anyone. I\'ve seen it going at time of print for around £90 on pay as you go. That price is an absolute steal. I can assure anyone they won\'t be dissapointed and suffice to say, my next phone will be another W series Sony Ericsson....
