Wacom Bamboo One Stylus Pen-- My Review --

Advantages: feels and looks good, customisable buttons
Disadvantages: scratchy for some, buttons easy to click by mistake

...The Wacom Bamboo One Pen is the stylus for Wacom Bamboo Graphics tablets, and unlike many graphic tablet pens, has hosts of extra features and functionality. LOOK & FEEL The stylus is a sleek, polished looking thing that sits comfortably in the hand and is a very similar size to a fountain pen. It sits well for use, but the buttons on the pen (see photo above) are a little too easy to click unintentionally, so make sure the pen stays at the same angle in the hand. The stylus is silver, with a gloss top half and matt bottom half, and the buttons lie a couple of centimetres from the nib itself. The nib is white and a good size, small enough to lend accuracy but large enough not to be scratchy, and the stylus curves gently into the nib, which is a seperate piece of plastic. Wacom Bamboo is perfect consumer graphics tablet

Advantages: 512 levels of pressure sensitivity, paper-like feel, 4 function buttons, zoom-wheel, eraser pen-tip
Disadvantages: You may have to polish the shiny function buttons to keep them shiny

In Windows Vista, installing the Bamboo unlocks the Tablet PC functions of Vista, allowing you to hand-write into any text-box that appears on the system. That is, everywhere you'd usually type, you can now hand-write instead, and Vista will convert it to text. Of course, this is an optional feature. Other unlocked Vista features include pen-flick navigation - special flicks of the pen can be used to navigate around the computer - for instance, a quick backwards flick will go Back. This also works in Internet Explorer. Wacom Bamboo - Great For Consumer and Mid Range Market

Advantages: Best on the low level market, great design, great drivers ad features.
Disadvantages: not the cheapest graphics tablet, averagely sized active zone.

...I bought this tablet over many other cheaper choices because i know wacom is a company i can trust, them being the world leader in graphics tablets. The product works well, although im not very good at using it its features and usage works well not only for drawing but as a complete substitute for a mouse. it will stop RSI and has reduced the pain i got from what i thought was carpal tunnel syndrome, It works very well with windows xp and its drivers integrate with minimal CPU usage. the tablet itself is designed very well. its compact but not so small its unusable and its pen works very well although could do with a bit of extra weight. its drivers do support pressure levels and these do work in photoshop but will take some setting changed and occasionally don't work. this can be fixed by unplugging then plugging in again. i have...

...I always wanted a digital tablet for my computer so I was really excited when I got this. It looks really slick, the active area on the pad is about A6 size (quarter the area of A4), but it's plenty most of the time. The software provided is mostly just some odd games and painting apps to show you what you can do with your pen, but you'd be better off using a proper paint package rather than relying on the bundle if you want to be doing photo manipulation with it. The drivers installed from the CD without issues and they are fine, they enable the pen mode so that the pointer moves to the position that the pen is at, rather than mouse mode where the pointer is dragged as you move the pen along, like a mouse. Wacom Bamboo Fun - Not so much fun for a beginner

Advantages: Much more comfy than a mouse and with right software/OS has good range of functions
Disadvantages: Appears to be very software and OS specific, erratic operation of some useful functions

I did quite a bit of research prior to making my purchase including ensuring compatibility with my PC and XP home operating system. Wacom Bamboo - crazy name, excellent product

Advantages: Battery free pen, easy to use, highly configurable, durable, great look!
Disadvantages: JustWrite Office note Vista compatible - the only bad thing I can say which isn't a lot

...I've previously bought a graphics tablet from a company called Nisis and, at the time, they were known quite well for them. Unfortunately, my experience with their product was less than impressive and it's mostly gathered dust. The main reason was the look and feel, it looked cheap and felt it too. A few years later I heard about the Wacom Bamboo online and thought I'd take a look at it. Since then I've gone out and bought one as I was so impressed by how it sounded but I was also worried that my expectations were being built up as with the Nisis before.
