...I run a dog grooming parlour, so feel qualified to post on this subject. I found Wahl clippers to be nicely small, but very heavy. Design is poor - to hold comfortably, your had covers the ventilation slots. This means you either suffer hand ache or rapidly heating blades. Add to that the fact that the attachable combs (flimsy, flexible things) will fall off the unit at the slightest hint of a knot, and you have a recipe for burnt skin on your dog. They come with a tiny tube of blade lube - covered in warnings to keep away from the skin. Also with a woefully inadequate little brush to flick hair out of the blades. This shouldnt happen in a clipper. To my mind its a fire hazard for a start. The clipper is a nice compact size, however, its weight ruins this one plus. ...insdie the sturdy and handy black carry case(that looks remarkably like a small drill box so it will make men feel even more manly) there are 8 cutting guides from 3mm to 25mm, 1 pair of hairdressers scissors, 1 comb, 1 bottle of clipper oil, 1 cape, 1 blade guard for when its not in use, 1 nosehair, beard trimmer, 1 cleaning brush to get rid of the bits of hair that get stuck in the blades teeth, 1 Dvd explaing how to use and care for your clipper set and the all important clippers themselves. we bought our set from argos and it cost us £19.99 about 2 months ago, they are now on sale at £17.99 and will probably drop even more for christmas. the set is very easy to use and just as easy to keep clean, its nowhere near as noisy as some other cheaper makes can be, but the vibration that it packs will have your arm buzzing...

So like a bright spark I went off and decided to get some of my own clippers, again probably slightly drastic but never mind. Teddy's coat was growing back rapidly so I thought that after about three months I'd try clipping him for myself, he'd been a good lad for the groomer (although that may well have been because she knew what she was doing) and it had after all cost £25. I thought that an investment in some clippers would be worth the money. Wahl, what a close shave i had with these...

Advantages: Easy to use, lightweight and trims without tugging
Disadvantages: cutting edges can become a little warm after a while

...a month to help hide my baldness, but as I had previously used Wahl hair trimming products I decided to bite the bullet, so to speak, and invest in what I hoped would last for quite some time. That was nearly a year ago now and the yucky browny purple coloured hair trimmers are still going strong. This trimmer itself is great for shaving my head, plus, what I really found was a boon about it was it that it is brilliant for the finer details around the edges, such as side burns and the back of my neck, maybe even them tramlines as well, (although I don?t have any tram lines in what?s left of my hair). The electric cable is of a good length so you?re not stuck to that plug socket near the floor, forcing you to kneel down in a dodgy position until you?ve finished the job in hand. My Baby Boy Has His First Hair Cut!

.... Personally I wanted to cut my own son?s hair in the comfort of my own home, and had decided to wait until he is a little bit older before taking him to the hairdressers. Even though I was trimming his hair I could never get enough time to do a good job of it. I then wondered if I could get a hair clipper that would be suitable to use on my 18 month old. After having a browse on Amazon I was delighted to see the ?First Clipper Kit? manufactured by WAHL, they are a fairly well known and respected company that have been producing hair shaving/cutting/trimming products for many years. They are generally cheaper than other brands, I have used their products in the past and have had no problem with them. Seeing as this was the only choice available and it looked pretty good and I couldn?t grumble at the low price of £14.50. I added it to my wish list...

...I have an Old English Sheepdog, a very labour intensive dog for grooming and I was taking her to local dog groomers 2 to 3 times a year for clipping. This on average cost me £20 and it does add up, so I decided to have a go myself. instead of forking out £40 to £50 for a dog grooming kit I went to Argos and bought the cheapest hair clippers for £11.99 (they're hairdressing clippers, for humans not dogs). These are just as good as the professional ones, apart from it takes quite a while to clip seriously tangled hair, and they come with the accessories - guards etc. I've tried then on next door cairn terrier and used them over 6 times on my very large and hairy old english and they're still going strong. I'd recommend them to anyone who either justs wants to have a go to see if they can do it or anyone who thinks forking out over £40 is...

Wahl Curly/Afro Straightener

...I recently purchased this Wahl wide-plate straightener, designed specifically for thick, curly and Afro hair. I am mixed-race, and my many curls have come from my Arab side! I have struggled to find a straightener that will smooth down my hair and straighten it PROPERLY! I have had a few straighteners, and they all left my hair looking a bit straighter, but also quite frizzy. This Wahl one smoothed down my hair, so it totally squished down my curls and waves, exactly what I was looking for! This wahl straightener heats up to 220 oC, it doesnt have variable temperature, but since its designed for people with curly hair, you need it that hot anyway.
