Wahl, what a close shave i had with these...

Advantages: Easy to use, lightweight and trims without tugging
Disadvantages: cutting edges can become a little warm after a while

...If you notice from my profile picture I am lacking a little bit in the hair department, so, to try and hide this fact, I tend to shave what?s left of my hair to a very short length indeed. In the past I have actually shaved my head right to the bone, as they say, using a ?bic? razor to finish the job off, but this was for a good cause and I found the results to be very chilly indeed, (plus my daughter refused to be seen in public with me until it grew back a bit). Anyway, the problem with shaving you head, whilst leaving some hair behind, is finding the right head shavers which will actually cut your hair and not rip out small chunks at a time. ...I run a dog grooming parlour, so feel qualified to post on this subject. I found Wahl clippers to be nicely small, but very heavy. Design is poor - to hold comfortably, your had covers the ventilation slots. This means you either suffer hand ache or rapidly heating blades. Add to that the fact that the attachable combs (flimsy, flexible things) will fall off the unit at the slightest hint of a knot, and you have a recipe for burnt skin on your dog. They come with a tiny tube of blade lube - covered in warnings to keep away from the skin. Also with a woefully inadequate little brush to flick hair out of the blades. This shouldnt happen in a clipper. To my mind its a fire hazard for a start. The clipper is a nice compact size, however, its weight ruins this one plus. Seiko Cleancut Shaver - Amazing!!!

Advantages: Great close shave, comfortable, no nicks or cuts, smooth baby skin every day.
Disadvantages: Not rechargeable. Need to trim hairs first.

...This a great shaver. I've recently been given an Arcitec, so have superseeded this shaver, but will definitly not chuck it, give it away or sell it on ebay; this is my new travel shaver.. I've used this shaver for months, and have never know it pull out a hair, I've never got any sort of rash or irritation from it of any sort, even shaving twice a day (I have been a lifelong dry shaver tho, even with disposible blades!). The batteries last a decent amount of time, and the head itself is easily washable just under a tap; the head collects all the hair for you, making it a nice clean-to-use shaver that you can use anywhere, not just in a bathroom... (i.e. you can use it in the car without making the interior gross for any passengers), and it will safely hold a few shaves worth of trimmings as well, especially if you shave more...

...I recently purchased this Wahl wide-plate straightener, designed specifically for thick, curly and Afro hair. I am mixed-race, and my many curls have come from my Arab side! I have struggled to find a straightener that will smooth down my hair and straighten it PROPERLY! I have had a few straighteners, and they all left my hair looking a bit straighter, but also quite frizzy. This Wahl one smoothed down my hair, so it totally squished down my curls and waves, exactly what I was looking for! This wahl straightener heats up to 220 oC, it doesnt have variable temperature, but since its designed for people with curly hair, you need it that hot anyway. I have used a variety of hair clippers over the years but once i had my hair trimmed by a wahl-well there was no turning back, compared to others i used wahls have always done a bril job and never broke down in mid job like others i have used. I decided to buy one due to their look, reliability along with the fact every barber id been to used one form of wahl or another. I paid £35, and have more than made that money back in savings on hair cuts. DIY is the way to go. The best electric shaver in the world?

Advantages: Brilliantly made, good performance, unique self-cleaning feature

...My 10 year old shaver finally expired and I thought, this time I will buy the best one I can find. I looked at some rotary shavers, but I am not convinced they shave as closely as a standard foil shaver. So then I looked for the most expensive foil shavers I could find on the grounds that they should be the best, and at least they should have the most interesting features. The search narrowed down very quickly to the Braun Activator 8595. The 8595 is a premium product with a retail price approaching £185, though significant discounts can be found online. It is currently the flagship of the Braun range. It is a very solid, good looking, well made piece of kit in brushed metal, with simple controls.
