XP-ERIENCE THE MAGAZINE!
Review of Microsoft Windows XP - The Official Magazine by
mdstone
Advantages: Great tips, useful advice and free software
Disadvantages: Bit pricey
...I was supprised to see that there were no reviews written on this magazine yet, but then it is only in its 25th issue.
I came across the Microsoft Windows XP magazine in a local Tesco store in the magazine section, although I had not picked it up and read it because it was sealed. Although this is a disadvantage, you do know that if you purchase the product, all its contents will be there. The magazine is a monthly edition, packed with 130 pages of useful information.
Microsoft Windows XP magazine comes in two editions to cater for those with and without a DVD-ROM. There is both a DVD edition (which I purchased) and a CD edition. The DVD edition costs £6.49, but normally comes with 2 lots of software/update disks. I haven't seen the price of the CD edition yet, but I guess it will be roughly £1 cheaper. You can also purchase...

Check Out This Magazine
Review of Sainsburys Magazine by
ciaomeister1
Advantages: Only £1.20, good recipes
Disadvantages: Coupons only useful in Sainsbury's
...I was at the checkout queue in my local Sainsbury's when I was faced with a row of magazines sporting a rather lovely picture of strawberries. Now I am a complete victim of advertising and the first thought that popped into my head was go back to the fruit and veg department and buy strawberries. Faced with having to re queue I decided to buy the magazine instead.
I am not a big magazine reader but had come across Sainsbury's magazine before as my Mum regularly buys it. So although I am reviewing the June 2006 issue, I will attempt to point out any regular features.
** The Front Cover **
On the front cover of the June issue is a photograph of three delicious looking Strawberry, hazelnut and mascarpone tartlets ~ the reason for the magazines purchase. The magazine states that it has been voted magazine of the year, and sure...

GOT THE CONSOLE? THEN TRY THE MAGAZINE
Review of Official Playstation 2 magazine by
tractor-boy
Advantages: Good balance of pictures and information in articles, Cover disks are well filled
Disadvantages: Sexually explicit chat-line adverts at the back
...Having decided about a month ago that I was going to buy one of the new slimline Playstation 2 consoles I set about reading all I could on available and upcoming games as well as new and exciting projects in the PS2 world. The internet can only tell you so much about a particular item and every now and again it is nice to fall back on the printed word. Enter Playstation 2 Official Magazine-UK, one of the three available monthly periodicals concentrating on the PS2 and all that surrounds it. Although more expensive than its competitor - £5.99 compared to £3.99 for P2 magazine – Playstation 2 official magazine-UK had a little more “buy me” appeal to it, so I paid the nice man at the counter and headed home for a closer perusal.
The magazine is contained in a bag that mimics its cover and helps to contain the two “free” PS2 DVD...

Q Magazine: Quality not Quantity!
Review of Q Magazine, Rock Stars Encyclopaedia - Dafydd Rees, Luke Crampton by
rachelk18
Advantages: Perfect for music fans, covers many things, well written
Disadvantages: Can be occasionally biased
...I'm a horrendously late newcomer to Q Magazine, having only actually bought my first issue last year, but it was a magazine that I always stood and flicked through in the supermarket as a child while my parents were paying for the shopping. Unfortunately, it stretched my small pocket money budget that little bit too far, being around £3 at the time if I remember rightly, so I stuck with my cheap teen magazines instead.
History:
Q launched in 1986, with it's first issue's cover stars being Paul McCartney and John Belushi. In 1990 it launched 'The Q Awards', recognizing musical talent, and in 2000 it launched QTV, a 24-hour music channel, which incidentally is one of my favorite channels.
Quality:
The magazine is very well made, with a lovely shiny cover and good quality pages, not flimsy at all. It has a spine as well, due...

Grazia Magazine
Review of Grazia Magazine by
Spottydog11
Advantages: Nice clothes, grown up magazine
Disadvantages: none
...Grazia magazine has probably become my favourite magazine out at the moment. I think as I've grown older I have moved away from wanting to know what is happening in the Big Brother house (although I have never wanted to know and never watched the show) as told in Heat magazine and the like and feel I have also moved away from the problem pages "my boyfriend slept with my sister" in such magazines as Cosmo, etc. I am not looking either for magazines that let you take surveys to see if he really is the one or if your surname and star sign matches with his. I am however, still looking for fashion, interesting people stories and some celebrity news and for me Grazia has all of those things.
Grazia is actually an Italian magazine which has international editions, obviously including one in the United Kingdom. It actually says on the front...

Celebrity Magazine 'HEAT'
Review of Heat - Magazine by
amyloop
Advantages: Good for celebrity gossip, a well written magazine
Disadvantages: to much celebrity nonsense
...~~~~~ Background of me and 'the mag' ~~~~~
I love my magazines. Like any other woman I suppose. I love gossip, I love advice (sometimes we are too scared to ask even our friends and family for advice on some things,) I love reading about the misfortunes of celebrities, (sick i know) and I love the odd story which is real life and 'non-celeb related' these stories after all, bring us down to earth, sadden us and even inspire us.
There comes a point however when you realise that you are buying about 4 magazines a week, is it because i'm really that shallow???? Really that vain????
Short answer...... Yes, magazines probe vanity.
Longer answer.....No, the reason woman buy lots of different magazines, is simply that each magazine contains different things, and we woman, need everything!!!!!
~~~~~~~~ down to the heat...
Heat Magazine
Review of Heat - Magazine by
x_Gemzi_x
Advantages: Lots of content
Disadvantages: Not enough *real people*
INTRO
* * * * * * * * * *
-Like many people, I have been known to read the odd Heat magazine. Sometimes, it seems as though I can't even walk into a shop without my gaze being drawn towards the magazine ailse, and I end up buying the magazine. But how does it compare with its competitors? I'm about to tell you..
WHATS GOOD
* * * * * * * * * *
-This magazine is not bad value for money. I cannot remember how much exactly I paid for it, but I remember that it wasn't a huge amount. You can get similar magazines for cheaper, but I think that Heat contains more than they do, so it's worth paying that little bit extra.
-It is a nice thick magazine which can keep you occupied for a couple of hours.
-It contains information about celebrities along with fashion and entertainment pages.
-The...
The Little Magazine with a Big Heart.
Review of Candis Magazine by
Elffriend
Advantages: You get a lot for your money
Disadvantages: none
...Hello fellow Cioaers, I’m here today to introduce you to a magazine that you may well have never heard of. Surprisingly so, because it is one of the nation’s most popular Woman’s magazine that men can also read as well.
In a recent survey, Candis has more readership than such magazines as Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Prima and Good Housekeeping.
So exactly what is this little handbag size magazine that is such a secret?
Well, for one thing you will not find it in any newsagents or garage shelf. This is a “Club” magazine that was once sold door to door, but mostly people subscribe to it on a yearly or monthly basis, paying direct from their bank account.
Your one-off fee of £3 for membership is all you have to pay, there are no hidden costs and you can cancel at any time, with a little warning space...
A True Magazine for Car Enthusiasts
Review of Car Magazine by
ali007
Advantages: Photography, Well Written, Accurate
Disadvantages: Reviews Somtimes a bit Similar
...Car magazine is one of the UK's most respectable 'car' magazines. The magazine follows a similar if not identical format to all the other car and bike magazines on sale, but Car magazine excels in its photography. The front cover of the magazine is always eye catching and inside the editors always seem to try to use their own pictures rather than those supplied by manufactures.
The magazine is very well written although its fair to say some of the reviews can seem the same and it doesn't have the humour found in Top Gear magazine. Car is a more serious consumer magazine and has won many awards for it's in depth features and news stories.
As with all monthly publications it suffers from being behind on the breaking news stories that you'll find in weekly magazines such as Autocar, but the news content is always detailed, accurate...
Hotdog is the Topdog of Film Magazines
Review of Hotdog Magazine by
simon_thomas
Advantages: you get all the latest film news
Disadvantages: cant think of any
...I discovered the magazine by total accident as I was in the shop to buy Total Film and then spotted another film review magazine called Hotdog. I would have just bought Total Film but as I had an extra bit of money that day I bought Hotdog as well.
The magazine is priced at £3.99 and is packed with well over 140 pages of great information on films. It's not only a great magazine for film buffs but a great read for anyone that wants to get a good review on the latest film to hit the cinema. It is out on a monthly basis and usually hits the shelves near the end of a month.
It has a lot of different sections in it and usually starts off with news of forthcoming films which is great if you are a film fan. Then it's on to the letters page were readers write in there views of the magazines and films they have seen.
The next bit...
