Let me explain my home setup:

WAP is this year's biggest hype, with mobile phone companies and shops bragging that it's the "hippest" way of getting the Internet on the move. However, WAP has not lived up to its debut and it is now being billed as a poor relation interim to second-generation mobile phone technology that will rapidly put it in the retirement home.
WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol and is basically a way of transmitting data to a mobile device. The big selling point is that WAP will bring the Internet to mobile phones everywhere, enabling you to do everything from chat to shop on the net.

...WAP, in my view, has been hard done by in its initial reviews. The main reason for this was critics putting it down for not being the mobile Internet it was never cracked up to be. Once you strip away the false expectations, it becomes a very useful tool.
There have been a number of times where I?ve been in situations, wondered about sports results and had no way of finding them out. In the old days I would have had to wait till I got access to the news, teletext or a PC Internet connection. Then, when I got a mobile, I would resort to ringing a mate. Now, with WAP, I don?t even need to ring around finding a mate who knows the score, I just go online and look at it. I can even read a short match review.

...Having got a FREE Nokia 7110 mobile phone offline, I wanted to access WAP services but the fact that it would be charged at 10 pence per minute put me off. But then I had a great idea about how I could access WAP services completely FREE of charge with no call charges. I went down to 'OUR PRICE' and bought a 'Virgin' Service Pack. Now virgin allowed free 0800 calls and ic24 were offering free acccess to the net via their 0800 dial up number. So I put these two together configured my settings and have since been using WAP services completely free of charge everyday and every weekend and its great. Maybe you could try it too....

*WHAT CAN YOU SEE ON WAP
Very little of use is the basic answer to that question. On my Trium Mars, I can get access to news, weather, sport, horoscopes and some shopping things, for example Amazon, but everything is so fiddly and slow I hardly ever bother – and I certainly would not buy anything over WAP, because it seems so unreliable. The screens available on most phones are so small...

...THE WAPPING PROJECT
I am reviewing this as a restaurant, although it is an art gallery as well. To be frank, I have not usually found their exhibitions very interesting so far, but that's just me. Photographs are often projected onto the exterior of the building. We have visited here a few times with friends and have always enjoyed the food, and especially the cocktails. Plus it's an interesting experience in itself, for various reasons (see below).
THE BUILDING.
The Wapping Project is based in an old Hydraulic Power Station, built in 1890 by the London Hydraulic Power Company. A charming red brick industrial building, it's set beside the Shadwell Basin, once part of Wapping's London Docks. Upon receiving my text from BT to announce this wonderful news I decided to have a go and see what the world of WAP internet can offer me. As it is normally 10p a minute this sounded too good to be true. So what do we have? Access via Freeserve (through Genie). Lots of sites, from entertainment, games, news, sports, (even Ciao is on there) great! I chose the Big Brother site as they're sponsoring it. Very informative, well laid out. I'm in WAP heaven! Advantages: Fast server, smashing feaures and great community Disadvantages: Very quiet
...don't like about this feature is the fact you cant chat to any of your buddies while in here. Then again if you totally want to be left alone then it is the ideal place to hang out.
MY THOUGHTS
I cant put this site down at all. The server is fast and reliable, everyone is friendly and there is a real sense of community here due to the fact of low numbers. It is a real shame about the low numbers as although the whole idea of Wapdream is a fairly new concept to WAP it has potential to be one of the biggest sites around.
One of the things I would like to see here is the Lithuanian and the English side combined into one somehow. Not sure how it would work, but at the moment due to the fact it is predominantly Lithuanian you feel a sense of segregation from them, although many of them do speak English and will happily respond if you...
