...The Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has been with us for a while now, and it hasn't been too badly received either amongst the Wii-mote waving, button bashing members of the public out there, so now that the DS version has finally arrived, should these same gamers still be as excited as they were the first time around? Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the DS is certainly not short on features, 16 playable characters have all been included, each of which are split into four categories such speed, skill, power and the all rounder's, therefore you can choose which characters you would prefer to use for each event based on their ability. The game also offers plenty of choice when it comes to events, these range from sprinting, swimming and cycling to more specialist events such as fencing and gymnastics...

...During the 1990s, if you had a games console you would have probably been in one of two camps: Sega or Nintendo. I certainly was rooted firmly in the Sega camp having had a Mega Drive for many, many years with games like Street of Rage, Ecco the Dolphin and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. I was a huge Sonic fan, playing the first and second game until completion and then starting up again a few days later as I loved everything about it, the colours, the gameplay.... everything. So if you tried to convince me that some 10-15 years later that Sonic and Mario would team up in a game, I probably would have just laughed. ...Having seen the advert for this game i was desperate to buy it as i have not had my wii for that long and i do not have many games. I eventually bought this game and i am so glad that i did as it is great fun. Players This game can be played as a one player or multiplayer as long as you have a wii remote for each player. Also you will need a nunchuck for each player although some of the games you can play with just the remote. Characters In this game you can play as characters from either sonic or mario such as sonic, tails, mario, princess daisy and yoshi. Each of the characters have different abilities which are split into speed, skill, power and stamina. you can choose a character who is a speed, skill, power or all around type which means that if you are playing a running game you would choose a character from the speed type...

Advantages: A great console, got some good technology in there, great online!
Disadvantages: Overheats, creates too much sound, online costs too much!

Global Thermonuclear War

Advantages: easy to follow plot
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...Now this is a great Sunday afternoon family film toi sit down and watch. A story about a young boy who manages to hack into a secret government computer and accidentally trigger the beginings of a Global Thermonuclear War. Not an original concept for a film but a good solid dare I say believeable story. An anti war message film made during the cold war with Russia who are portrayed as the agressors but have nothing to do with the scenarios in the film. Special effects are limited but the standard of acting is quite good. An enjoyable watch and a film I would be quite happy to sit down and watch again....

Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (Wii) is an 'ok' game.

Advantages: Lots of sports, can play with balance board, ability to play with a mii, dream events are fun.
Disadvantages: No real story, Balance Board controls poorly on most mini-games, might get boring quickly.

...First off, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is yet another mini-game collection. The Wii has seen a large amount of these types of games lately, so if yet another one is going to appear on the Wii, it had better be a good one. And that's the problem with this particular game. In no way is this game terrible, but it isn't that remarkable either. If it released on another console i might have been a bit more forgiving, however on a console with such a large number of mini-game collections already, there are probably quite a few collections out there already that surpass this game. *Appearance and Sound* GRAPHICS The graphics in this game are as you'd expect them to be, although there are a few places where the graphics are exceptionally good. A worthy sequel that first comes to mind in the console wars

...Gears of war 2 is the long awaited sequel to the massive game which helped give the xbox 360 some valuable points in the console war. Years later the sequel does the same where everything has been improved The story is very good by game standards as a professional writer has come on board just for its plot. It carries on from gears of war 1 but can be fully understood by an newbie as well. The gameplay has been polished in all areas and also features more enemies and variety than previous instalments The graphics and sound are top notch with great score kicking in the minute you try and take on a massive enemy. The level design is varied and detailed and one can clearly see bit of wall and ceiling come off after a firefight leaving the steel railings The single player has a good mix and never seems to dull and offers about 10-12 hours...
