A little country retreat at a big price
Advantages: Superb location
Disadvantages: You pay a lot for the view
...Set in several acres of beautiful grounds in the town of Warminster, in the Wylye Valley between Bath and Salisbury, Bishopstrow House is a spectacular location for a hotel. As a member of the von Essen Private Collection of hotels it sits in extremely prestigious company. The house itself is a Georgian mansion dating back to 1815, and whilst it is obviously a hotel, the house retains many of its original features that add greatly to its charm.
The gardens are huge, beautifully maintained and peaceful, allowing plenty of opportunity for relaxing walks. The hotel even has it's own stretch of the River Wylye, available for fly-fishing.
~Rooms~
The room I stayed in was a double, which was roomy and comfortable. The fittings and features all gave a nice relaxed country house feel, although the décor was more than a little tired in...

Skirmish Paintball Review
Advantages: Good Prices, Friendly Staff, Equipment for all shapes and sizes, Lunch included, A great day out
Disadvantages: You may come back hurting!
...Being a Civil Servant, and gun enthusiast paintball is my kind of fun. But what does Skirmish Paintball hold for the user?
The Location: The location near me is just on the outskirts of Warminster. Not extremely well advertised and slightly hard to find but word of mouth seems to be doing the trick. Situated inside woodland with a range of scenarios it holds a fantastic day out for all paintball players or those just looking for fun.
Scenarios: Cowboy Town. Just recently been put up and although I havent played it yet, I've heard good things. Good cover, aerial positions and all sorts of tactics can be put into play.
Defend the Fort. A small two floor fort surrounded by protective wooden barriers. Objective is to ensure noone from the opposing team makes it close enough to score a kill on your target. This could be a person...

Disadvantages: Limited disabled access to certain attractions
....
******Extra Information******
*How do you get to Longleat?*
I have included a simple map of the area in the photos of this review as people will come from all directions, though below are some basic directions for you.
Longleat sits just off of the A36 between Bath and Salisbury. If traveling from the south east, take the M3 to the A303 and then the A36 towards Bath. From this direction you will find Longleat just off of the A362 between Warminster and Frome. From the south west, simply follow the A303 towards London and then get onto the A350 towards Warminster. From the North, you will need to get onto the M4 until you reach the A46 towards Bath and then join the A36 towards Salisbury.
If traveling via train, the nearest train station in in Warminster which is around 5 miles from Longleat. There is also another station in Westbury which...

Head on down to Subvert City...
Advantages: Real Punk At Its Very Best
Disadvantages: None
...The Subhumans are the first band not on the Fat Wreck label to have been invited to record for their 'Live In A Dive' record series and are also the first with the original credentials and pedigree of a punk band.
Originally formed in 1980, out of the backlash of the Sex Pistols, the Subhumans were based in Warminster, Wiltshire, and always offered quality political antagonism alongside their gritty vocals and guitars. Having gone through several personnel changes throughout their early years, the Subhumans return with a collection of 25 past releases, plus one new song, all recently recorded live at the Showcase Theatre in Corona, California, in true punk style: this is a collection of songs, punk at heart and just too damn real for its own good!
Live records always carry with them a kind of magic that ordinary records quite...

LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS OH MY......
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Some restrictions for the disabled
...situated off the A36 between Bath and Salisbury (A362) Warminster Frome Road) or signposted from the A303.
My tip to you is come early and stay all day, bring a picnic, not only will you save your money for another day, but you can sit on one of the many manicured lawns and lunch like royalty with the backdrop of the great house behind you.
For more information check out their website at www.longleat.co.uk
Thank you for reading!

They're just big pussy cats really!
Advantages: great day out
Disadvantages: driving through Bath to get there
...My children don?t spend hours in front of the television during the school holidays but one programme they rarely miss is Animal Park as they love watching all the animals of Longleat safari park. So when Granny offered to take us for the day over half term, no one was about to say no!
Longleat is dead easy to find, provided you look at a map first but take the A36 out of Bath heading towards Warminster and you soon pick up the signs. The first time I tried to go with my husband I tried to remember the way from when I was a kid, it?s a long story but suffice it to say we ended up in Stonehenge ? also worthy of a day out, but that is somewhat irrelevant.
Now living only an hour away, I have visited the park on a number of occasions, the first being way back in the 70?s with the school and I can honestly say that yesterday was by...

Mary, Mary quite contrary
Advantages: therapeutic
Disadvantages: dirty fingernails
...'t have a greenhouse to begin with so this is not an essential, but it does stop every windowsill in the house being covered with tiny, growing things.
Most seeds can be purchased easily from garden centres, diy shops and even supermarkets from about 50p a packet. Though if you're lucky, you can get free ones by buying gardening magazines as they very often stick a few packs on the front to encourage you to buy the mag.
If you want to grow something more out of the ordinary you will need to buy from a specialist seed supplier such as Thompson and Morgan. You can telephone 01475 695224 for a free seed catalogue.
If exotic fruit and veg are more your scene, there's an excellent family run business called Simpsons Seeds. Address is: The Walled Garden Nursery, Horningsham, Warminster, Wilts BA12 7NQ. Telephone number 01985 845004. They...
