Brita Elemaris water filter jug
Review of Brita Elemaris Cool Water Filter by
christinepalytte
Advantages: The water tastes better than previous filters, it's much easier to fill and use.
Disadvantages: Still takes quite a bit of cleaning but again, a step up from the original jugs
...Having owned and used a Brita water filter on a regular basis for several years, I couldn't resist purchasing the Elemaris when I saw it on offer at a bargain price on the shelves of our local Asda.
My original filter jug was full of water, so the first thing I did on unpacking the Elemaris was to pour a glassful from each jug to compare them. I was pleased to observe that the water in the glass poured from the Elemaris appeared cleaner and much clearer than that from my old faithful.
On tasting both samples, the one poured from the Elemaris won hands down - it tasted much fresher than the drink from the other jug.
Our tapwater has quite a nasty taste when unfiltered but the Elemaris removed this.
The Elemaris is much easier to fill than the earlier models and the filter does it's work much more quickly - my first jug took...

NICE JUGS, now put the kettle on.
Review of Brita Acclario Water Filter/Kettle by
BNibbles
Advantages: Space saving, good value compared to separate jug and kettle
Disadvantages: Indistinct "on" button
...The Brita Acclario?
OK, I know it sounds more like a kit-built British sports cars, but it’s actually the latest offering from Brita, makers of portable water filtration “solutions” (God, I hate that word!).
So, Brita have brought out another water jug, so what?
Not content with the basic version of their now-familiar clear acrylic and white plastic jug, Brita then followed up with the dearer version with a liquid-crystal timer in the lid to warn of impending exhaustion of the filter (after all, we wouldn’t want you to stint on buying THEIR filters, would we?), followed closely by the slim-line version for your fridge door.
In case you were wondering what on earth they could come up with next, they’ve managed it.
Quite a bit of lateral thinking has obviously gone into this product.
Think about it – what do you do...

Buying mineral water is a mug's game!
Review of Brita Fjord Water Filter by
jm160
Advantages: Affordable, delicious drinking water with no hardness
Disadvantages: cartridges can be a little expensive
..., turns into a muddy brown substance with large chunks of unappetizing lime-scale floating about in it like titanic-sinking icebergs, coffee does the same thing. The result of this phenomenon is that everybody in Leicester weighs, on average, three times as much as other citizens as a result of the vast slabs of white stuff that are clogging-up their internal organs.
Enter the Brita Fjord water filter, the only thing standing between Leicester and the most chronic case of dandruff / petrification in the known world.
Description:
The filter is divided into four parts; these being the jug, funnel, lid and filter cartridge. The jug has a total capacity of 2.6 litres, meaning that it can easily handle enough water to cater for an entire tea party without the need for refilling. The funnel fits inside the jug and holds the nasty, dirty...

Cheap mineral water at last
Review of Brita Mistral Water Filter by
happy-reviewer
Advantages: Great tasting water,no impurity no chlorine..
Disadvantages: lcd timer batteries running out and changing filters
...Well where to start, I live in the south of england
in what I consider a damn hard water area.
I always avoided drinking our tap water because of its
Chlorine treated taste and if I did drink it,it would
normally only be with Ribena or orange squash so as to
mask the taste.
At the beginning of last year I decided on a Britta Jug
it set me back £10 with a few filters to get me started.
Now being quite a sceptical chap I set about unboxing the jug looking it over a few times, then opening the lid and inserting a filter,at the same time thinking to myself,
"hmmm how good is this" and "hmmm dear god how
long to filter the water".
Well after filling the top of the jug with water and watching
it drip drip through, I poured myself a glass of water,
smelt it ,no chlorinesmell, then tasted it and I was
totally...

RIP - Bottled Water (in the benniash household)
Review of Kenwood Water Filter by
Benniash
Advantages: Effective, cheap, easy to use/clean
Disadvantages: No indicator, low capacity.
...Having written an opinion on tap water a few months ago it became apparent from the comments I received that many people still purchase vast amounts of bottled water, with some brands charging extortionate prices. As mentioned in that opinion I have always preferred tap water although I always filter it first, to make it as pure as possible.
Kenwood make a range of water filters in different sizes and colours, but on the whole they all do the same thing as they use the same cartridges. For your benefit, the model I have, and therefore on which this opinion is based, is the WF93.
The water filter is transparent with a white lid, spout and filter dish. The filter dish and the jug both have a maximum capacity of 1.1 litres, which means that you can’t over fill the jug. This capacity isn’t very big but sufficient for my partner...

Tap Into A Tastier Water
Review of Aqua Plus Water Filter by
alflavor
Advantages: Cleans your drinking water to a new level
Disadvantages: Jug will only fit in the largest of fridges
...Tap water tasting metallic? Smells a bit does it? Limescale problems in the kettle?
Although your tap water IS clean and perfectly safe to drink (allegedly) I would go as far to say that your tap water doesn’t taste as good as even the cheapest bottled water you can buy.
Whilst you can fit a filter system to your cold water supply, the quickest and cheapest way to tastier water is to buy a jug filter.
The Aqua Plus filter system claims to improve the taste of tap water, remove chlorine, reduce sediments, pesticides, heavy metals (not the music!) whilst keeping the beneficial trace minerals that the body desires. Also it will reduce limescale in kettles, which alone is worth the costs of running a filter, in my opinion!
I purchased (well my girlfriend did to be honest) this filter system a few months back, and am...

Water Way to Drink
Review of Brita Fjord Water Filter by
Bigbaz
Advantages: Improves water taste and quality
Disadvantages: None
...and the list price was £17.75 and I added to that four filter cartridges listed at £13.99 giving a total of £31.74. However at the moment Argos have an offer on where if you buy the filter and the cartridges together you save £3.00 so I paid £28.74. There is no need to buy the replacement filters at the same time as the filter does come supplied with one to get you started.
The filter is available in two colours, blue or white, we chose blue to fit in with the kitchen decoration, and it is designed to fit into the shelf on a fridge door. It is made from a high quality scratch resistant plastic which doesn’t look cheap or tacky.
It comes with a small but comprehensive instruction book, which is written in plain English and so, is easy to follow.
Before use the parts, which consist of a funnel, jug and lid, should be washed in warm soapy water...

water, water everywhere...
Review of Brita Fjord Water Filter by
weebagpuss
Advantages: dramatic improvement to the taste of water, useful in hot drinks, practical design of the Brita Fjord
Disadvantages: none
...I am sure it would be easy to forget.
The design of the filter is also good. It is a slimline model, yet can still hold 2 litres. Its design means that you can store it in the fridge - useful on a hot day, although I have found that if you have some strong smelling food in the fridge then this will affect the taste of the water, so I tend to leave my jug out - my house isn't very warm at the moment anyway. There is a non-slip base on the jug making it harder to knock over, although my clumsy ex-boyfriend still managed to! The lid fits well, and covers the spout, this spout cover then flipping up when you pour, so this prevents most insects from getting in, although I still find the odd ant gets inside - really can't think why ants want to get inside a water jug!!
According to the manafacturers, use of filtered water in your...

Bottled Water Or Straight From The Tap?
Review of Tap Water by
micksheff
Advantages: Very Cheap, Refreshing
Disadvantages: Taste Can Vary From One Region To Another
...people moan about this essential commodity and turn up their noses at the mere mention of the word tap water I have decided to write a review in its favour, destroy some of the myths and set the record straight.
The Taste
Personally I can drink a glass of tap water straight from the tap but I prefer to chill it first and always keep a jug in the refrigerator. Chilling the water prior to consumption has several advantages. Refrigeration improves the taste quality of the product by dispersing the chemicals within the water, in particular chlorine which has been added for its cleansing and disinfecting properties. Refrigeration also leaves the water tasting much fresher and gives it a more crispier edge. To enhance this further I find it particularly good to add ice cubes to a glass of chilled tap water on a warm day as the re...

Don't Like Your Water? Maybe You Can Fix It?
Review of Tap Water by
angeelu
Advantages: Necessary for life, Refreshing, You can often solve problems with the taste or appearance yourself
Disadvantages: Not everyone is satisfied with their drinking water
.... Additional chlorine (though within safe limits) is often added to the water supply following an incident such as a burst pipe. It's times like this in general that people detect that chlorine taste more than usual, though some people can taste it all the time. If you want to drink your tap water but want to get rid of the chlorine taste first, I recommend putting the water in a sealed jug or bottle in your fridge. This will help the chlorine in the water to dissipate and also gives the water a much more refreshing, clenaer, crisper taste in my opinion. Left for just a few hours the chlorine taste will disappear.
Milky Water
*******************
This was another common problem that people experience with their water, and it makes them think it's unfit to drink. In fact, the milky appearance is just millions of tiny air bubbles in the water...
