Brita Elemaris water filter jug

Advantages: The water tastes better than previous filters, it's much easier to fill and use.
Disadvantages: Still takes quite a bit of cleaning but again, a step up from the original jugs

...Having owned and used a Brita water filter on a regular basis for several years, I couldn't resist purchasing the Elemaris when I saw it on offer at a bargain price on the shelves of our local Asda. My original filter jug was full of water, so the first thing I did on unpacking the Elemaris was to pour a glassful from each jug to compare them. I was pleased to observe that the water in the glass poured from the Elemaris appeared cleaner and much clearer than that from my old faithful. On tasting both samples, the one poured from the Elemaris won hands down - it tasted much fresher than the drink from the other jug. Our tapwater has quite a nasty taste when unfiltered but the Elemaris removed this. I have a brilliant pair of jugs!

Advantages: Versatile, durable, smart
Disadvantages: None

...baking without getting bits of egg everywhere! I make my gravy in it as it withstands the temperature of the boiling water. I use it to either make custard in the microwave or to heat ready made custard. I even fill it with water and wander round the house watering my house plants! It's a great versatile jug, it always looks smart and I wouldn't be without it in my kitchen - so there! I apologise for the title - I couldn't resist it! ...I purchased this as a replacement for my old kettle about 7 months ago. I decided to review it as I am not terribly impressed. I purchased it at Argos and I think it was about £24 at the time. This appeared to be at the higher end for normal jug kettle (as opposed to the fancy matching ranges). It is a white kettle with a silver-grey lid and handle and a clear strip up the side so you can see how much water is in there. There is a push button on the top of the handle to allow the lid to open and a switch at the bottom which is depressed to turn the kettle on. It sits neatly on a white base which has about a 24 inch lead attached. The element is concealed at the bottom and it is 3000watts. the kettle is marked in cups and goes up to 8 cups so is a good size. Disadvantages: Filter cartridge runs out every 4-5 weeks

...cartridge lasts about 4 to 5 weeks. Finally the whole filter is easily assembled. The filter is then filled with water and it takes about 2-3 minutes to fill up. This filter is filled 3 times. The water from the first couple of jugs may be used to give to plants. The change in taste was amazing. The water tasted a little sweet and was a definite improvement on tap water. The accompanying literature mentioned that the taste and appearance of tea was improved. The appearance of the tea was lighter and according to my wife the taste and texture of the tea was lighter and sweeter. Apparently there is less scale build-up in domestic appliances such as kettles. I found that less steam was produced during boiling a kettle. In the long term it may even save you electricity.
