...Finding a good hotel in London is not an easy task. You can, of course, easily find a decent hotel if you are a lottery millionaire, but for the rest of us, it can be a real struggle to find anything more than a fleapit for less than a hundred pounds. The budget hotel chains have not really made any in roads into the London accommodation scene, with only a sprinkling of Travel Inns here and there. The worst part about the Travel Inns in London is that they now charge around £80 per night, for what is a very basic level of accommodation. Fortunately, there are much better deals to be had out there, without spending millions, and being the good corporate citizen that I am, I have made it my quest to seek them out and appraise them for your information. PS Waverley & MV Balmoral

Advantages: See the Beauty of The Coast
Disadvantages: None unless your sea sick

...The two historic vessels operated by Waverley Excursions head office in Glasgow are two of only a few remaining coastal excursion vessels within the UK. The ships themselves can carry around 800 passengers (Waverley is liscenced to carry more) to various destinations and cruises around the British coastline. Recently supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the PS Waverley (last sea going paddle steamer in the world! )has been restored to her beauty, whilest the MV balmoral has began phase one of her regeneration programme. One board both vessels, aft on the main deck there are self service restaurants with a wide variety of snacks, tea, coffee light refreshments and hot meals. Again on both ships the main bar is located forward. Plastic glasses are available if you wish to take your drinks up on deck to better enjoy the scenery...

Buffet Time

Advantages: Consistent, Good Prices

...Jimmy Chungs is a well known Oriental Buffet Restaurant which have a restaurant in 5 out of the 6 Cities of Scotland. Those are Aberdeen,Dundee,Glasgow,Stirling and Inverness. There are two branches in Edinburgh City Centre, one is on Waverley Bridge and the other is in Grindlay Street. My review is based on the Waverley Bridge branch which is the first restaurant you come to once you leave Waverley Station so therefore it is probably to no surprise that is is always busy. Prices vary between £5.49 for lunch on Monday-Fridays and over £10 for Fridays and Saturdays evenings. when you come into the restaurant, a waiter or waitress will ask you how many people and then they will show you to your table and they will then immediately ask you what you'd like to drink which seems absolutely daft considering you have only just sat down...

Especially those directed by the one and only Alfred Hitchcock. ...nice to see and have a nice selection too of gateaux?s, ice cream, fruit and also the likes of banana fritter but this is not always hot and if it is cold it ruins this dessert. With the cake they also have single cream to accompany which makes it all that bit nicer. They also have jelly as well so they have quite a range to finish off the overall buffet experience. I really like Jimmy Chung?s it is a nice environment, it is always clean, and dishes are always updated as are plates and cutlery. Staff are friendly always willing to help and the range has everything I want from a Chinese Buffet. They are reasonably priced and are comfortable and they seem to be doing well for themselves as they are always branching out. Very Best of British steam

Advantages: Fantasitc footage of the last days of steam

...memories of aging people (myself included!) who can recall travelling by steam train (and can also recall mum, with moistened handkerchief corner, fishing a smut from the smoke out of your eye!) But, as a result of their sterling efforts, these steam trains were recorded for posterity, merely going about their everyday business of moving people and hauling goods. There is a very good spread of railway sites and sights, from the Somerset and Dorset line to Scotland (the Waverley route) from Bournemouth to the South East of England, from the North East (when coal really was king!) the North West of England and the run from Worcester to Paddington.
