...your graphics card set to full acceleration, you also should have a powered USB Hub 2.0 or take a lot of usb devices out of your computer if you want to see the cam to full affectiveness. And what an amazing cam it is. Once you enable full acceleration and also power your usb hubs you get a high def web cam with resolutions up to 960x720 . It also has a 640x480 for youtube. Speaking of youtube you can record using the software and then upload direct to youtube it will also save a copy of your recording on the hard drive. If you have a low spec machine with adequate graphics and little power then stick with the low spec cams that will give you reasonable resolution and speed. ...I have just purchased two logitech "QuickCam Web" cameras with the idea in mind to keep in touch with my son easily and cheaply. Installing the webcam was very easy. It has a USB interface and the drivers & software just loaded up straight away. The bundled software is good for making videos and stills off-line to email to friends, or to stick on a web site. But to use the webcam online you have to use MSN Netmeeting and MSN Messenger. This meant it took a while to download the latest versions, install, and create a microsoft passport. But once all this had been done, the actual ease of use to connect to another camera was good. The only fault i can find is that there are no directories listing online people who just want to chat - or not that i have found so far. ...My husband purchased the Logitech quickcam web for £59.99 from PC World and I was very dubious at first, I even covered it up when on the net just in case someone could see me. Sad I know but it made me nervous. As I've got used to it I've been pleasantly surprised. You can take instant photos by simply pushing the button on top and as it has quite a long lead it's easy to move around. You can also make video's which don't have the slow motion effect I expected but appear to be real time. These can then be sent by email as attachments, great at the moment as my parents are in Canada and I was able to send a video of my daughters birthday party. It comes complete with a built in mic so you don't need to buy separate equipment to have netmeetings. The video does seem to move slower when used this way though, with individual frames...

The Logitech QuickCam Express

Advantages: small, quite nice looking, fairly cheap, works
Disadvantages: installation bit laboriuos, some features don't work when not administrator on XP

...The Logitech QuickCam Express is a nice looking webcam, with a neat little stand and very curvy lines. The camera and base are both whitey, so I don't reckon it would look that good with a black monitor. However, the base is around 9cms wide, and can't be put on top of a TFT moitor easily - at least not mine. If it has to be put on your desk, next to your monitor or whatever, then it doesn't really look up high enough, its really designed to look down on you not up. The focus ring is blue, which blends in nicely but the lens is a bit like looking into a black hole. I don't know if that's the same for all webcams, but it freaks me out a bit if I look straight down it. I got mine for £19.99 from a retail shop, which isn't too bad, and was deffinately a lot cheaper than the others they were advertising on their website. So I reckon it ain...

I have recently lost the software dish and driver for the webcam, but the online website for logitech is very useful, and I managed to download the driver and settings program for the camera; the download was around 30MB though so it could take a while for dialup users. Unfortunately, the download didn't include the bundled CD software, but it does still include the video and stills options. Overall, I would say this camera is very good, the zoom is good and it includes a technology called Facetracking, which zooms in on your face and it works very well actually. The picture can be a bit dark sometimes, but it can cope well with darker areas, and you can adjust the brightness and contrast on the settings....
