...Showtime's brilliant and addictive comedy series, 'Weeds', takes modern suburban life in southern California and turns it upside down, just barely keeping things on this side of normal. While I fastidiously avoid TV serials, especially network comedies, 'Weeds' has made me care once more about a TV show, much like 'The West Wing' did in its earlier seasons. Now that Season 2 of 'Weeds' is here, I think it's high time (pun intended?) that viewers still deprived of this wonderful series finally make its acquaintance. (The Season 1 DVD has just been released in the US.) The setting for 'Weeds' is a planned community called by the harsh-sounding name of Agrestic. (I think Stevenson Ranch northwest of LA doubles for the town.) The series title could refer to the waywardness of people's behaviour beneath that suburban veneer...

One Way to Get High (Legally)*

Advantages: Eclectic choices from today and yesterday that enhance the show's droll, occasionally poignant, sensibility.
Disadvantages: Not all songs sampled on the show make it to the disc.

...The soundtrack CD to 'Weeds', Showtime's outstanding comedy (dramedy?), may not include all the songs used in Season 1, but what's on here fully conveys the droll, engaging humour of the show. Just like the series, whose loony tales revolve around the mildly controversial and as-of-yet widely illicit Cannabis sativa plant, the music is plenty playful and mischievous, at times poignant, and only rarely dark. All 'Weeds' fans already know track one by heart. It's the vintage antiestablishment ditty, 'Little Boxes,' that plays during the main title sequence. ...The spring will soon be here we are already seeing daffodils and snowdrops. The stork's bill does not flower till April and through the summer months. Stork's bill plants area range of plants genus Erodium the family geranium. The one you will commonly see as a weed is the Erodium cicutarium; this grows in fields and along roadsides and in my garden likes a sandy soil. This group of plants called stork's bill are members of the geranium family. Review of Stork's bill

Green green grass of . . . my lawns!

Advantages: effective all in one lawn treatment, kills weeds and nourishes lawns
Disadvantages: could be better at killing moss, however does reduce moss re-growth

...I have to admit I am not an expert gardener and do the best I can to keep my lawns looking green and luscious, however over the last few months my lawns have deteriorated even though they have been feed and watered. There seems to be a bit of a competition where I live as to who has the best kept garden, with some people putting in fountains, fancy paving etc. I am not usually one to keep up with the Jones? but I felt our garden was letting the side down a bit, so needed to spring into action. I went to my local Wilkinson?s store as they have a good gardening section and picked up Wilko granular Feed, Weed & Mosskiller for lawns. The feed, weed & mosskiller costs £2.99 for a 1.75 kg box which treats 50 sq. meters (60 sq. yards) and is considerably cheaper than other well known brands such as Weedol, Miracle Gro and Bio-gro etc...

Give up the evil weed!

...Nicotinell Fruit Gum Extra Strength. Well as most of you have now noticed I have given up the evil weed YES! I'm on my 3rd week and sooo happy. I don't think I could have done it without the nicotine gum though. Let me tell you a little about the gum first: I picked the fruit flavored gum because for some strange reason the mint flavor seems to fade quicker for me. And I tend to associate mint with ciggies as I always had a piece of gum after a ciggie to get rid of my stinky breath. The gum itself comes in chick let form (that is small rectangular pieces of gum, for those who do not know what a chick let is) and they advise when you first give up the weed to eat on average up to 8 pieces a day. On reading the box and leaflet it says that if you have a ciggie first thing in the morning before food you are better...

Waste money while you get weed on

You can buy booster pads to wear at night with these nappies but having purchased a couple off ebay I can safely say my baby weed far too much to wear a reusable nappy at night no matter how many extra layers I stuffed the poor lad with. As size one only caters for baby's up to three or four months of age (depending on their weight), the mobility issues cotton bottoms present aren't really relevant for this review. I did find getting clothes to fit to be a considerable problem even with an immobile baby though. Trousers that fit my son's waist and leg length didn't fit over his nappy bulk and vice versa. Vests I found weren't too much of a problem; I just bought the next size up and found it didn't drown my son because it was stretched lengthways by the bulk. Sleep suits I...
