...This is a stylish compact electronic scale designed for use in kitchens where it can weigh food ingredients of up to 5 kg. I actually bought it to weigh postage items and it works fine for this. I really like the look and design of this Salter scale. The scale consists of a circular stainless steel platform set in a shiny black plastic surround (The image shows a white one). I guess the purpose of the steel disc is for weighing wet food directly without a container. The whole unit measures 16x18cm and stands about 2 cm high. It is quite heavy at roughly 800g. The scale rests firmly secure to the kitchen table top on account of 6 small rubber feet that stop it from sliding over smooth surfaces. It weighs a ton

...however. The first is it weighs a ton, I've just weighed it, a stone and three quarters. That said it is manoeuvrable and I don't have any problem using it. Although I wonder how someoone smaller than me, or elderly or disabled would cope. I think they would really struggle. The second flaw is the size of the dust container. i don't think its' big enough. I live on my own and only hoover up a couple of times a week, I end up emptying it once a fortnight. The dust container itself is really easy to empty, although the opening mechanism was a bit stiff at first but eased off with use. If I had a family it'd be at least once a week. The reason that's important is that there are a number oif filters on the hoover three of which should be cleaned every fifth time the dust container is emptied. That said I've had the hoover for about 6 months...

The Weigh to Goal!

Advantages: Easy to follow and effective dietary plans. No food is forbidden!
Disadvantages: Possibly the cost of meetings, although to me this is an good thing

Broccoli - weigh too much

...risked it by ordering qty 1 but funny how they were out of stock so I am none the wiser. For people like me, I wouldn't even have a clue how much something would weigh but if 1kg is 4bunches of broccoli, then maybe it is time Tescos introduced grams when ordering. Also I wasn't very impressed with the choice of tomatoes I was sent and my 'sliced' bread was not sliced even though it had a big label on it saying SLICED. It is cases like this that I would prefer to shop in store so I can see the fresh produce that I need to buy like my fruit and veg, fish and fresh meat and from the bakery. With this being the bulk of my shopping most of the time then shopping online is not for me at this moment in time however I can imagine the need of the convenience of online shopping when I'm shopping for more than 2 people. There?s a display screen at the front which shows the weight in either grams or ounces, up to a maximum of 5kg or 11lb in 5gr or one-eighth of an ounce increments, although given that the surface area of the scale is so small it would be quite a delicate operation to balance 5kg of anything on it and still be able to read the display. Now the accuracy seemed like a very good idea at the time but I should have been warned by my feelings about digital watches. This scale is simply too accurate for someone who for years has cooked on the basis that 8oz of rice equals four good handfuls plus a pinch extra and I?ve had to speak sternly to stop myself adjusting tiny amounts of whatever I?m weighing to try and get the precise measurement. Creative Zen Touch - weighing up the pros and cons

Advantages: Very easy to use, massive battery life, excellent value
Disadvantages: A bit heavy, hard to make playlists, casing

...in the car, or on a long journey when you don't want to change track all the time, need to use the playlist function, so this would be my major criticism of the Zen Touch. There is also nothing like the I-Trip, which enables the MP3 player to connect wirelessly to the radio, therefore it cannot be used as anything other than a personal music player. I like it because it's quite big and heavy, but some people may find this a turn-off. It does make a bulge in your pocket and, although it's 20GB (like the I-pod mini), it weighs more than the full-size Ipod (which has twice the capacity). Although a great machine, it's not the most stylish by any stretch of the imagination. But then again, compared with some of the new MP3s on the market, neither is Apple's ever-popular I-pod. It almost sounds like I'm rubbishing the Zen Touch - but...
