"Lat will do nicely" : Life Fitness Lateral Raise
Advantages: Perfect execution of the exercise in hand, quality build, quality company
Disadvantages: Expensive for the home buyer, very heavy!!!!
...On to the second piece of Life Fitness equipment I will be reviewing this week, the Life Fitness Signature Lateral Raise. This is one of my favourite pieces of kit and in my opinion creates the best gurning faces out of all the kit in the gym (lol). Apologise to those that have read my other review regarding the signature series, there is an element of repetition regarding the company details and signature series, but I prefer to keep it in for new consumers as it highlights who they are buying from and also the uniqueness of the signature brand.
WHO ARE LIFE FITNESS
Life Fitness really came into existence in 1968, when a chap called Keene P Dimmock invented the lifecycle exercise bike. Seeing its potential, two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nieto bought the rights to the cycle an then took it to the health...

Love Life at Living Well
Advantages: Get Fit, Keep Healthy, Make Friends and Chill Out
Disadvantages: Not one!
...can unwind in the jacuzzi.
SAUNA/STEAM ROOM: Just next to the changing rooms are the single sex sauna and steam room. I absolutely love the steam room, not so keen on the sauna though it does seem to be very popular. They are not partucularly big, you could probably fit about 5 in each one. Towel hooks are provided outside, along with a separate shower.
THE SHOWERS: There are about 8 shower cubicles so you can have some privacy. They provide you with shower gel, though I can't comment on it because I like to take my own.
OTHER: After a hard work out you can go and relax in the health bar where they serve a variety of food and drinks. There are lovely big sofas and a tv if you don't fancy going home straight away.
Living well also has a beauty section. The treatments cost extra, and although I've never had one I am sure they are...

Could be a Goody Idea, but Probably Won't be Done Well.
Advantages: Could be a worthy film
Disadvantages: Will most likely be a badly made film
...support Andy Warhol?s assertion that everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes. Thanks to ?Big Brother? and the like, this appears to be getting closer to a reality. So if such a film were to be made, you wouldn?t catch me watching it if you paid me (which, given how well Jade made money out of doing very little, would be strangely appropriate) but I think that she?s had the kind of life that wouldn?t make for a bad film.
Many of the biopics that make it onto the big screen are the life stories of those who have triumphed over adversity. Life stories of people who have achieved very little tend to be pretty boring, although that hasn?t prevented many of them from writing their stories down; many of the ?true life story? type books that are around at the moment are proof of this. Equally, biographies of even famous people who may have...

Review of Reality TV Star Jade Goody's life to be turned into film. What are your thoughts on this?
|
A film of Jade's life would be pointless and sad.
Advantages: Could possibly raise more awareness
Disadvantages: We have already seen her life, with more drama and detail than any film could show.
...When Jade Goody died this Mothers Day, I read and heard countless opinions on the matter. Some people were happy that she had died and that she "deserved" it, other felt that she was a "hero" and an "inspiration", others just simply felt it was sad that someone had died from something so horrible, and left behind two children, regardless of their past, and left it at that.
My initial worry about this idea, is that a film of Jade's life would only make profit, because of it's controversial nature, not based on the merit of the film at all. And as such the artistic or indeed any aspect of the film would be irrelevant to the makers, it would sell anyway.
Without throwing in my opinion on her death, the point I am trying to make is that Jade, even in death, divides opinion and causes controversy. Whatever way you look at it, she had...

28 days later
Advantages: great fast paced movie with plenty of action and horror
Disadvantages: none
...days later, (so came the title), a hospital patient called Jim (played by Cillian Murphy) wakes up from a coma to discover the entire population of London are mouth dribbling, mad flesh ripping killing machine.
With Jim having to fight for survival, running scared from the infected gangs, he stumbles upon other survivors, including Selena, (played by Naomie Harris), Mark, (played by Noah Huntley), Frank, (played by Brendan Gleeson) his daughter Hannah, (played by Megan Burns) and a small group of soldiers led by Major Henry West, (played by Christopher Eccleston).
With the remaining survivors being protected by the armed soldiers things seem to be working out, but, unfortunately, within the confines of the soldiers safe house in Manchester the dangers begin to escalate as the remaining survivors and soldiers begin to mistrust each...

"It's a sin to be ashamed of what you are" - Imitation of Life
Advantages: Strong storyline and some fantastic performances, lush colour cinematography
Disadvantages: Somewhat dated now - some of the comments and words used could offend in this age.
...rest on her employers not discovering she is black, and while Lora and Suzie both accept Annie and Sarah Jane to their family happily, the subject of race is discussed simplistically between the four of them but in a far more complex manner between Annie and Sarah Jane themselves.
Annie herself can see the way of the world and part of her big heart goes out to her daughter in one scene where she tells Lora "how do you explain to your child she was born to be hurt?" and it is said in a fatalistic manner that no white person could truly understand.
It's too easy to dismiss "Imitation of Life" as a mere melodrama - yes its has all the ingredients to get women into the cinema and the Kleenexes out - but there is a message running through the film which did not go down well in some quarters at the time, and something we should never forget even...

If 28 Days Later was Alien, this would be Aliens
Advantages: 28 Days Later on steroids!
Disadvantages: People doing stupid things in horror movies.
...it's a really good, fast paced, modern action horror in it's own right but if you're a fan of 28 Days Later it shouldn't disappoint you either. There are some interesting glimpses into what it was like in the 28 Days time (the underground being especially creepy). Some of the scenes are a bit squeamish (look out for those thumbs in the eyes again!) but overall it's more the atmosphere of tension and excitement than the gore that makes it so gripping. The scenes of deserted London are again well done and interesting to see.
I can't think of any major downsides other than Carlyle's character not being human longer (although his initial changeover is well worth seeing) and some of the plot devices demanding people act like complete idiots by doing things you can't believe they're doing. Still if it was necessary to bring the infected...

28 Days Later
Advantages: Differant ending and can be quite imaginative in places
Disadvantages: an average film
...Ok, so im writing this review just because I can and im slightly bored with nothing else to review (yet).
Set on the island of great Britain, this post apocolyptic survival horror wass directed by Danny Boyle and released 2002 and spawned the sequel 28 weeks later in 2007. The film is about a virus that rapidly spreads through Britain with in 28 days (coincidence?ï??)
The story begins with a group of British Animal rights activists breaking into and animal research centre to release captive chimpanzees but are warned by a worker that they are infected by some thing he refers to as ?rage? but as you could get they release the chimp which subsequently attacks and infects the people which of course then break out and infect the rest of the population.
The scene cuts out and we then see a young man, Jim, who wakes up from a coma to...

CODE RED - 28 WEEKS LATER -
Advantages: Brilliant direction, photography, music, and acting.
Disadvantages: Pretty gory!
...◘► Released in 2007 under the Science Fiction/Horror Genre. 28 Weeks Later is a higher budget, post apocalyptic sequel to the International film success of 28 Days Later which was released in 2002. 28 Weeks Later picks up where the last story left off. Though not a direct sequel, 28 Weeks features a different set of people, in similar circumstance. Director Danny Boyle was unable to direct 28 Weeks, due to other work commitments, but became Executive Producer on this film, and he hired Juan Carlos Fresnadillo as Director, after seeing his work on the 2001 film 'Intacto'. This would be Juan's first time directing an English language film. Boyle did keep in touch though by becoming 2nd unit Director. There is also an entirely new cast on 28 Weeks Later, and plans have been made to create a third chapter, and make this film...

TAKING IT TOO LATERALLY
Advantages: nothing electrical to go wrong, saves time by being cardio and toning in one
Disadvantages: price
..., there she was, stepping up and down on this huge black thing. It looked like a stepper machine, but, as she kept saying, it moved in and out as well as up and down. My interest was peaked further by the two promises always made by these exercise gadgets; you can do it in front of the telly, and it?s fun to do. Inane American women who have less fat on them than a toothpick usually make these promises; but this advert showed women aged 69, and women who were about my size, all extolling the virtues of this machine.
Repeated viewing did nothing except make me more intrigued, and when I finally got some cash through for a website I wrote about 8 years ago, I decided to actually buy one of these machines, and give it a test drive.
This new healthy regime will be the death of my wallet you know.
SO WHAT ACTUALLY IS IT?
This black...
