DON'T BE A WENDY!

Advantages: Nice enough food, lots to keep kids entertained, quick and easy
Disadvantages: Not the most luxurious of food, can be pricey, unhealthy

...I?ve been to London now a couple of times this year and one of the restaurants we?ve dined in, is Wendy?s. I?ve heard about Wendy?s in all the films, but had never tried it myself, so I was really excited! We turned up at Wendy?s on Oxford street at around 12.30 ready for a spot of lunch. I was a bit worried about this place as I had read some not so good reviews on it however as we were incredibly busy we had to fit something quick in. when we arrived at around 12.25, the first thing that jumped out at us was how busy the place was. The tables were heaving with people however luckily, and what swayed it for us, was that there was just a tiny little queue. From the outside, Wendy?s looked quite attractive. It looked just like your typical burger joint or fast restaurant however it did look a bit ?Posher? and more like a restaurant...

...'Wendy the Wide-Mouthed Frog' is a children's book written by Sam Lloyd, author of 'Calm Down, Boris' and 'You're Not So Scary, Sid' amongst others. What all of these books have in common is a hand-puppet built in to the centre of the book, which forms the basis of the story. In this particular story, the star is Wendy a wide-mouthed frog. All that is required to bring Wendy to life is for the reader to pop their hand into the puppet and mimick Wendy's mouth movements. I haven't actually read any of the other books in the series so this was still quite a novelty for me to read and both my two year old and my six year old son thought so too. Wendy Holden: Beautiful People I bought this book from Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago, it was two books for £7, which is good value as I bought this book whose RRP is £6.99, and Jane Green's The Beach House, which has the same RRP. Beautiful People is 695 pages long, with 58 chapters, so it's quite a long book and if your not used to reading books and if you don't have much time to read, then don't bother with this book, as it's double the size of a normal novel and if it takes you a long time to read a normal book, then you could find your forgetting what happened at the beginning of the book when your getting towards the end! It is good value for money though, even at full RRP price, it's a good price for a book of this size, and alot of books of this size would cost alot more than £7. It is paperback...

...Lyons Battenberg Cake This has been on special offer recently in Tesco's and since the offer has been on I have been able to eat single handed 4 whole cakes. The offer being buy one get one free and for a price of £1.29 pence, which gets you the two cakes, I think it is well worth it. The Lyons Battenberg cake has been around for years and has been one of my favourite cake time treats for many a year. The fact that this cake is so sweet really satisfies me as I have a very bad case of sweet toothitis. The Battenberg Cake is made up of a super soft sponge centre that is in two different colours and four separate squares of colour giving the cake a chequered look. Having a lie-in in the Lyon...

Advantages: A clean hotel in the heart of Barcelona.

Wendys and mixed feelings

Advantages: usually good food
Disadvantages: a boo boo here and there

...I have always liked Wendys as far back as I can remember. They used to have a nice salad bar and you could go make your own salads ranging from a regular salad to taco salad, get your own chili and so on. It was a one price eat all you want deal. They stopped that a long time ago now. The food is a bit higher priced than Burger King or McDonalds. McDonals I won't ever eat at again but I do use Burger King quite often but if I am not in a big rush I prefer Wendys. The food is flame broiled and not greasy. I happen to love baked potato and always have one of those along with a junior cheesburger and a soda. The one that I visit is right across from a high school and during the day the students have the place filled up but I have always gotten good food, the way I wanted it and found a place to sit so the wait in line wasn...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging.
