VFR Real Scenery Wales & South-West England
Advantages: Value for money and superb scenery
Disadvantages: High specifications required
...VRF RealScenery Volume 3 - Wales & South-West England (PC)
Let's start with the basics:
This is Compatible with Windows XP or Vista. YOU MUST ALSO HAVE FLIGHT SIMULATOR X
System Requirements:
Processor: 2.5GHz
Ram: 1.0 Gb or greater
Hard Drive: 12.0 Gb or greater
Video Card: 126Mb or greater
Other: DVD-ROM drive
VFR stands for "Visual Flight Rules" - this is the way that pilots navigate when they aren't using complex instruments - they look at a map and then pinpoint landmarks on the ground to work out their position. To do this in a flight simulator requires scenery that's exactly the same as the real landscape. VFR Real Scenery is an amazing piece of software that provides just that - fly over England and Wales in Flight Simulator X and sample the view you'd get from a real aircraft. You can see the real countryside from...

Celebrating England
Advantages: looks cute
Disadvantages: retired
...Everybody my age had TY beanies, they were adorable! My close circle of friends and I were huge collectors and between us we have most, if not all, of them going! One of these is England the Bear.
England:
The name is pretty self explanatory. This bear represents the country England. Whether it is bought as a souvineer by a tourist in England, or by somebody whose home country is England and they are proud of that, this bear is there to represent it.
Appearance:
To look at, England from a distance seems plain, almost like a basic white bear. Indeed, his fur is white, which goes hand in hand with the whiteness of the England flag. Around his neck there is a little red, white and blue bow - the colours of the Union Jack. This alone is cute, and then on his chest you will notice a little England flag has been stitched on. This adds to...

The Wilder West
Advantages: Unspoiled wilderness, fascinating sights and sites
Disadvantages: Persistent rainfall, persistent sandflies
...Having crossed the Southern Alps and reached the coast at Greymouth, you may be tempted to head south straight away. This is, after all, the direction in which the highest mountains, the deepest rainforest and the remotest tracts of wilderness are to be found. And if you haven't come to see mountains, forest and wilderness, you've come to the wrong place.
Resist the temptation. First, cross the Grey River and take a small diversion up the coast to the north, just an hour's drive to the Paparoa National Park. You will thereby ensure that your first taste of the west coast is not the relatively drab and developed stretch immediately south of Greymouth (only relatively, since nothing along this coast is drab or developed by European standards). North of the Grey River the country is hardly touched, and the drive takes you round...

Tame Tame West
Advantages: Some good fight choreography
Disadvantages: Acting and script leave a lot to be desired, special effects are tired
...In 1999, a good combination of cast and crew got together under the directing prowess of Barry Sonnenfeld to create what was possibility the most disappointing film of the year. Wild Wild West had great potential to be an awesome film. So, where did it go wrong?
The Plot
Captain Jim West and US Marshall Artemus Gordon are two of the most skilled gunslingers and trackers in the US. Trained on opposite sides of the law enforcement spectrum, they must team together in order to rescue the President from the clutches of an evil madman, who also happens to be an inventor with a thousand different toys to throw at the two heroes as they assail him in order to succeed in their mission.
The Cast and Performances
Will Smith heads what should have bee a good cast in this Western with a difference. He plays Jim West, who upholds the law...

Wild West Pinball
Advantages: Addictive
Disadvantages: Only one level
...So, here's another iPhone Application for your approval...and it is of course free! It's the Wild West Pinball game. (Waits for applause...)
Being a free game from the manufacturers, OOOGameprom, you may not expect much from it...but low and behold, you'll soon find yourself addicted. The old ones are the best and all that!
Now, unless you've had your head in the sand forever then you'll all know the concept of pinball. Using the paddles at the bottom of the table to smack the ball around in an attempt to collect points by hitting various parts of the table or making the ball travel in various spaces. This is obviously no expection. The layout of the table is a glossy wooden one with red trim. As the title of the game suggests, it has a wild west theme...a large cowboy aiming a gun is the icon for the application when sat on your i...

England Football Team Part 1
Advantages: Sven has improved the confidence of the players
Disadvantages: Not enough of the squad play abroad
...the winning goal. Dumitrache of Rumania had a good game. Rumania later changed its name to Romania.
The Brazil match was a classic. I seem to remember that it took place on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone remembers the tackling of Bobby Moore and that save of Gordon Banks from Pele's header. My particular memory is of Jeff Astle missing an open goal.
The match with Czechoslovakia was another bore. Allan Clarke of Leeds United scored the winner from a penalty.
The quarter-final match with West Germany was a very sad occasion. England took a 2-0 lead and was coasting. England's manager Sir Alf Ramsey took off Bobby Charlton and the Germans equalised.
The match went into extra-time. Gerd Muller hit the winner. I must admit that I cried after the final whistle.
The only other time I cried was when Manchester United beat Hull City...

NatWest - a Student-friendly bank
Advantages: Easy to set up, great overdraft facility, great student credit card
Disadvantages: Solo/Maestro - you have to make sure you have the right debit card
......
What do NatWest have to offer?
Why did I choose NatWest for my student account? The answer is very simple: I've had a bank account with NatWest for many years, and although I did research other banks before deciding who to open a student account with, I ultimately chose to stick with NatWest.
For students starting university this year who open an account before 10 October 2009, this is what's on offer:
* A Maestro debit card - accepted pretty much everyone in shops and online, and can be used abroad (at a cost, obviously)
* Chequebook (you need to apply for this though)
* Student credit card (CAUTION: I'll come back to this later...)
* An overdraft facility starting at £1,250 in your first year
* Freebie #1 - A 16-25 railcard for 5 years, worth £130, which gives you up to 1/3 off rail tickets AND doubles up as a student discount card...

England Cricket Team Part 1
Advantages: Side hard to beat
Disadvantages: Often wrong team selected
...ORIGINALLY WRITTEN AUGUST 2000
LIFE AS AN ENGLAND SUPPORTER
I first started watching England on TV in 1970 at the age of 8.
In those days the BBC1 commentators were Jim Laker and Richie Benaud. Peter West introduced each test session.
1970
England was due to play South Africa but this tour was cancelled due to the sports wide ban due to South Africa’s apartheid policies.
Instead England played a test series against the Rest of the World. This team was a fantastic side and comprised of players such as Eddie Barlow, Clive Lloyd, Graeme Pollock, Gary Sobers etc.
England lost the series 4-1 but it was no disgrace to lose to such a great side. My main memory is of Geoff Boycott scoring a magnificent 157 against a brilliant bowling attack.
Later in the year England toured Australia and regained the Ashes...

NatWest
Advantages: Good for young people, no problems so far, lots of cashpoints
Disadvantages: None so far.
...Being a bit of a freebie hunter when I decided to open up a bank account I opened one with whatever bank gave me the best freebie. At the time NatWest were the only bank offering me an “incentive” to join and it was a £10 gift voucher so my Card Plus account was opened and I was a customer of the nasty NatWest.
I was given a Solo card with my cashcard account by NatWest. A card that most banks only give to customers who are aged 16 or over. A Solo card is a debit card designed for young people, see my opinion on it for further information. All cash machines are free to customers of NatWest though I think NatWest have the most cash machines that belong to them out of the British banks so it shouldn’t be a problem for you finding a cash point.

NatWest - super service until theres a problem!
Advantages: Until you have a problem, they're great. Very quick to spot potentially fraudulent activity on your account
Disadvantages: Absolutely dire at sorting out any problems you have have - expect long delays with no explanation
...Having banked with NatWest essentially all my life (well, since I set up my very first bank account with them over 7 years ago), I have never had a problem with them. In fact, if asked, at one point I would have quite happily heartily recommended them to anyone.
The service I used to receive in my ex-local branch was second to none. Friendly and helpful Customer Service people. Excellent range of accounts to suit everyones needs. Rates that were always in line with their competitors (give or take, at times). Even handier was that a few years ago they even started advertising that they would only ever have UK based call centres too so you were assured you'd be able to understand those people on the other ends of the telephones if you ever neede to ring them. What more could you need from your bank?
Of course most of use use...
