Disadvantages: Split into different buildings, expensive.

...?? you guessed it back in the first building we visited. Begrudgingly we made our way back across the city, dodging ?sword sellers? on the way. RoomsThe building itself looked ?ok? I can?t really describe it any other way, it was a square building with grey walls but on entering it was actually very well set out. Stone floors and stairs, interesting antiques and very clean so I was quite looking forward seeing the rooms. Well I was disappointed. The rooms pictured on the Best Western website looked nothing like ours. I can only imagine that they are executive rooms and not standard ones. ...I guess most reviews come from the fact that people either have something really great they want to tell people about, or really bad that they want to moan about. To be honest I would love this to be a big rant about Great Western, but I'm going to keep my comments fair, because although they do a lot of things wrong, there are also some things that I do actually like about the way they run their service. I started getting First Great Western trains from Reading a couple of months ago. I generally get the rush hour trains in and back, but I do also have experience of using their trains during off-peak hours as I used to travel a lot on them at the weekends last year. TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns

...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving. I thought it was jaded and thus overrated with a distant view of the sea which was hardly on the waterfront. The rooms are OK. Being the main centre for U Boat construction during WW2, Keil was then a favourite destination for RAF Bomber Command and was badly damaged; the reconstruction is about as imaginative as some similar city centres in the UK such as Plymouth - in other words a quick-fix urban monstrosity. The DVD is a single disk containing the film, no extra features which is a little disappointing. * * * * * I'm doing lots of World War 1 literature for my English A-level. But among all the videos, poems, biographies, and documentaries, this is one of my favourites. 'All Quiet on the Western Front' first grabbed my attention because it sounds so poetic, so familiar. However the deepest irony is that the front was never quiet, constantly bashed into craters by heavy shell-fire. Before this DVD (a 1979 remake of the classic black and white film) I had no idea what the trenches were really like. What is somewhat unique is that this story is seen from the German perspective. What is heartwarming and depressing is that it is very much like our own story...

Best Western Plaza Hotel, Frankfurt

Advantages: Central and reasonably priced
Disadvantages: far too much choice at breakfast.

...We stayed in The Best Western Frankfurt Plaza in July 2006 as part of our fabulous summer holiday in Austria and Germany. Not having booked any of the trip I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel in Frankfurt. I was even more pleased due to the rather grotty hostel we had just frequented in Innsbruck, Austria. Anything would have been better than that! Review coming soon. The hotel is a three star and has forty five rooms all easily accessible by a lift in the main reception. *~*~Location*~*~ The plaza is located on Esslinger Strasse which is about a ten minute walk from hauptbanhof - the main train station in Frankfurt. There is a tourist information kiosk in the station where you can get a map of the city and locate the hotel. I have added picture below of a map of the city centre with the hotels location on it...

Worst Great Western? I don't think so.

Advantages: Clean trains and facilities, helpful staff
Disadvantages: The seats are so comfortable you are in danger of sleeping past your stop.

Where there are toilets on a station or train, there is always a disable toilet too. Also there doesnt seem to be anywhere that doesnt have a step free access point, or a life of some sort. As well as this, there is always someone happy to help, for example, with a portable ramp, beween the train and the platform egde. FGW have done really well on this score. RELIABILITY OF THE TRAINS. There is where FGW let themselves down. This is why they have a lot of delays. I think this is also why they have earned their name of "Worst Great Western".
