The Hilton without a chihuauhua or a range of perfumes

Advantages: Good rail connections, good for the Excel or London City Airport, but not too remote for the city
Disadvantages: It's expensive but by London terms, you get a lot for your money.

...We spent a wonderful long weekend in Porto. One of our places to visit if we get round to it. Whilst we where there we visited the Port Wharfs, due to the name and my love of Port. We set off on the Sunday morning, and had a varied trip to get there by the tram, vehicular and the old trolley bus. We travelled over the bridge designed by Eifel who designed the Eifel Tower, in fact he designed two bridges that span the Rio Douro, both well worth walking over if you have a head for heaths go on the top level if not use the lower level, your choice. ...The Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf is a luxury 4 star hotel. I stayed in this hotel just 2 weeks ago for one night at a price of £150 - I had this on Last Minute.Com as a Top Secret Hotel. I chose this hotel due to the close location to the O2. The location is spot on with fantastic views, little did I know that between the hotel and the O2 is a river! This meant 2 tube rides to get to the O2. The hotel is very glamouros, clean and has good security. Check in is at 2pm, I arrived at 1:55 and they wouldn't allow me to check in - bit mean I thought! Check out is at 11am. They did take my luggage from me while I sat in reception until 2pm. The rooms are very modern with a bathroom that has a shower and a nice deep bath. You have a flat screen tv, access to the internet (you have to pay) and a CD player, alarm...

I am sure there are others, but I still have the pleasure of finding them. But here, close to the city centre of Bristol, is a small gem of a site. And it is quite small (58 pitches), surrounded by a wall and fencing, through which a gate (key from reception) leads to the wharf from which the site takes its name. And in the summer, a river bus stops here to take visitors to the shops. ...I went along to the Butlers Wharf Chop house on saturday for lunch with friends and had a great meal. If you like traditional English fare, riverside surroundings and a high level of service I'd say the Chop House will score pretty highly for you. The BW Chop House is part of the Terrance Conran group and one of 4 other Conran restaurants in the immediate vicinity. It is housed in an old wharf building that is located about 15 minutes walk from London Bridge station and about 2 mins walk from Tower Bridge.
