What A Stereo!!!
Review of Wharfedale USB 501 by
pacer002
Advantages: Everything about it is an advantage
Disadvantages: I cant fault it in any way
...i bought this product at christmas and it is the best stereo i have ever bought. i didnt realise at first but the speakers have a cover at the front which can be taken off which makes the speakers looker really cool. also the ability to cater for all different types of music i.e. by usb or memory. you can also use the original methods of music like the radio and cd player. the sound is very clear and gives great sound definition. this piece of equipment looks and sounds great and is easy to use. this would be great as either a living room stand out piece or a great in a teenagers bedroom. it is quite small so can be fitted into the small spaces which you wouldnt expect you could put a stereo into....

Wired for sound
Review of Wharfedale AKC3100C by
Maniac1701d
Advantages: Good Clean Sound, comfortable, stylish
Disadvantages: Some sound leakage
...Unfortunately I currently share a house with a large number of people for reasons I will not go into and therefore am unable to have my music blasting out whenever I want to.
I spend a lot of time on the PC reviewing, blogging etc and so listen to music through it.
I decided to invest in some headphones and because my father always swears by Wharfedale headphones I decided to get a pair the same as his.
So, I'm currently sitting here writing this with an album playing through the Wharfedale AKC3100s.
What's the sound like?
*************************
It's very clean, by clean I mean no noise that you sometimes get with other headphones or speakers.
The bass is good and balanced and the stereo effect is nice.
What do they look like?
*************************
They have a black outer headband made of hard plastic which attaches directly...

Mikomi K 14 TK 205 Q Colour Television.
Review of Mikomi K 14 TK 205 Q by
Tonymikomi
Advantages: Cheap, reliable, very good picture and sound quality for £44.99 at Argos.
Disadvantages: Haven't found any at all.
...I purchased this model from Argos, and , at £44-99, how can I complain. The picture quality is excellent and watching a separate DVD player or VCR provides the viewer with more than adequate value for money. One other point I would mention is that the sound quality is much superior to comparable products at a similar price, and I have bought , and returned, 4 other T.V's, including a Wharfedale LCD model, which I found to be no match for this Mikomi model.
I also have Mikomi's cheapest stereo/cassette player costing £9-99, again from Argos, and the stations that I can receive on this player outnumber those I receive on other portable radios at 10 times the price.
From my own experience of the" Mikomi name" I have absolutely no regrets following purchase.
If it's a cheap, but reliable, product that you want, look no further than the Argos...

Budget DVD
Review of Wharfedale 750 by
diceman
Advantages: Budget but good quality
Disadvantages: Ugly design
...A couple of months ago I bought a Wharfedale 750 DVD player for £180 from Tesco and it outperforms my other DVD player a Toshiba SD 2109.Picture quality is excellent and sound quality is very good.It is able to play discs from any region without having to enter a code unlike other budget players. The only downside is the design, it is very dull and square looking and the remote control is very small and fiddly. If you are looking for a cheap but good quality DVD player then I recommend the Wharfedale 750 it is available from larger Tesco stores....

An unbelievable buy!
Review of Wharfedale Diamond 8.3 by
MusicSam
Advantages: Great sound at a low price
Disadvantages: None at this price.
.... You may be interested to know the only reason they are so cheap is because they are produced in china whare the labour costs are very low.
The trebble has a real sparkle and is very detailed.
The midrange is powerful and again detailed which makes vocals a real pleasure to listen to. If you like stuff like Enya you'll love the sound of these speakers.
The bass is very tight (short and punchy) thanks to the kevlar drivers but this is not a compromise on depth or frequency responce ( how high and low sounds can be produced)
Their frequency range is from 45hz - 20,000hz which people who have some knowledge of frequency will understand is very respectable.
The imaging on these speakers like most of wharfedales speakers, is amazing. (This is the stereo effect which means when listening you can picture where each individual sound is coming...

Pretty Darn Good
Review of Wharfedale LCD32HDMI by
ToyBoy
Advantages: price, picture quality, ease-of-use, AVL feature
Disadvantages: lack of "advanced" features
...Let's get the most obvious shortcoming out of the way right off the bat: clearly this TV is the product some no-name, Chinese sub-contractor who are renting a brand name - or maybe it's Argos renting it - coz who ever heard of a Wharfedale television?
Actually, who ever heard of Wharfedale? I have a vague memory of some speakers or stereos back in the 70s but I don't think I've heard the name in a decade. And t'interweb doesn't help: I'm betting this is the only review you found. Lucky you: I couldn't find any. Probably because, so far as I can see this TV is only sold - at least under the Wharfedale brand name - in Argos.
So I guess what I'm saying is this is no Sony or Samsung. Do not, however let that put you off. This is a rather handsome, HD-Ready, 32" LCD TV with Nicam stereo sound for just £405. That's pretty remarkable...

Wharfedale's Multi-Region Capability.
Review of Wharfedale 750 by
Samoorai
Advantages: Multi region capability
Disadvantages: Not the nicest looking player on the market
...The Wharfedale DVD 750 has, a im sure alot of you know, the capability to play DVD imports from any other country in the world, including the USA. To those of you who do not understand what this means, film producers decided to encode DVD's so you would not be able to run a UK (region 2) DVD on a US (region 1) DVD player, and obviously, the problem arises for us Brits when you reverse the problem. However, by simply having the disc tray on your Wharfedale ejected and pressing 0,1,2,3 on your DVD remote, the player is set to play imported films. I find this feature completely essential now as i have imported my last two DVD's. Advantages of getting import DVD's imclude better special features often, getting films before they are out over here (I got Fight Club before it has come out to buy over here, and The Green Mile before it has even...

Some plus points but not good across the board
Review of KEF Cresta 30 by
frankjones01
Advantages: Look good
Disadvantages: Poor sound quality
...than their price tag. These don't. You get what you pay for and not even a smidgin of anything better.
Fidelity was good, and there was no real problem picking out sounds in the mix. The soundstage was good, although I listen in a small living room so it's not a fair test. In other words, there is some quality here. These are not bad speakers. It's simply that in some important areas the quality drops below acceptable.
I suspect these speakers are designed to be supported by other speakers in a surround-sound ensemble, rather than used as stereo speakers. In fact, the manufacturers frequently make mention of the rest of the product line. For stereo use, they're a no-no.
As for the 90dB sensitivity rating, I question this. Not on any scientific grounds, but simply because I reattached my Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers (86d...

Stop looking for that DVD player now
Review of Toshiba SD-2109 by
Xeon007
Advantages: Excellent picture and sound quality, easy to use, good build quality
Disadvantages: Doesn't play CD-Rs, no optical digital output, doesn't play R1 RCEs easily
...and you wouldn’t be wrong. However, the SD-2109 features a well designed remote that is so logical and simple that I can use it in the dark no problem. In fact, the 2109’s remote is better than its replacement, the SD100E.
I bought my SD-2109 chipped, which means that it can play DVD from around the world. Unfortunately there is no remote hack and so if you want your SD-2109 to be multiregional, you will need to get it chipped.
Compared to other products, the SD-2109 is one of the best out there for picture and sound quality. It certainly is better made that the budget machines out there like the Wharfedale and the OSD doesn’t look cheap either. However, it does lack some of the features found on the more expensive models, such as the Sonys or Pioneers, but they do cost a lot more.
Outputs:
1 x SCART
1 x Composite...

Wharfdale, a good place to start
Review of Wharfedale 750 by
Andypooh
Advantages: Low price but superb picture and sound
Disadvantages: Looks a little booring
...on the back. There is also 4 RCA audio out connectors and an S-Video socket.
The front panel has a simple looking display and all the buttons that you would need to get a picture on the screen. The unit does look a bit bland, but thats ok if you're a bit of a minimalist I guess. The first disk that I tried was Supernova. First impressions was that it seemed fairly slow to respond to me prodding the remote keypad (but i have now found other disks seem to respond a little quicker). I was instantly impressed by the quality of the picture and sound (although at the moment I have the sound pouring out of my tv's stereo speakers until I save up for a dolby decoder).
I have also discovered that this unit also has a muti region hack available for it that can be easily found on the internet. So, to sum up, I think that this is an excellent product...
