Advantages: Brillant stuff

...Evanescence:The Open Door Evanescence a well know heavy metal'gothic' band (Although I wouldn't put the gothic in there') First released their debut album 'Fallen' in 2003 and followed that up with their live DVD 'Anywhere But Home' in 2004. ...As a big fan of Evanescence's first major album "Fallen", back in 2003, I had high expectations for "The Open Door". When I found out in the summer that they had a new album coming out, I could barely wait until October, and scoured the internet searching for pre-release reviews of the long-awaited record. And when I finally got it, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed it on the first listen through, but on the second and then the third (and so on), I loved it! A lot of the songs are very good, and in my view, there's only one track that lets the album down, which is "Your Star". Having read the other reviews on here for this CD, I was quite surprised at the response from the reviewers and the comments received, and I seem to be alone in my view that this was a great album! Open Your Heart to Open Season

"Open Season" was released in 2006 by Sony Pictures Animation which also brought us "Surf's Up" and "Monster House". In the age of 3D animation mega-films such as Shrek, Ice Age, Monsters Inc, anything by Pixar, these films rather fell by the wayside. My husband and I saw "Open Season" on television on a trip to visit my parents in Canada and were amused enough to actually purchase the film (I think it cost about £1.50 when my husband was buying something he really wanted). ...The other night I put my feet up with a good bottle of wine and scoured my DVD collection for something I was in the mood for. A while back, I had seen 'Open Range' for sale in a Virgin outlet store for £2, and thought 'Why not?' ...When co-founder Ben Moody departed the Evanescence team in late 2004, questions were asked as to whether goth-lite princess Amy Lee could steady the ship alone. After all, Moody was the genius behind 2003/4 uber-hits 'Bring Me To Life' and 'My Immortal' (musically, that is). ...Evanescence originally came to fame in 2003 with brilliant gothic master pieces such as Bring Me To Life, Going Under and My Immortal. The Open Door although very different from it's predecessor Fallen still maintains the brilliant chugging guitars, piano driven rock, haunting lyrics and of course Amy Lee's angelic voice. Despite the lost of two of the key song writers Ben Moody and David Hodges, Amy Lee has taken over the reins (along with Terry Balsamo) with grace creating a more personal and flawless album than the last. This album is very much (as it has been hailed as) 'The Amy Lee Show' from majority of songs about her personal experiences to her alone adorning the cover (once again) to her overpoweringly superb vocal skills. ...I don?t want to offend anybody who was born and raised on the Isle of Sheppey, but well, it?s a rather odd place isn?t it? Due I?m sure, to the fact that there is only one road attaching Sheppey to the mainland there have been jokes in the Kentish area about gene pools and bottoms of barrels for as long as I can remember. Yet if you ever risk the journey into this most defensive of communities you might be surprised. The landscape is rather sparse, rather windswept, blasted and rather well, beautiful in a melancholy kind of way. I think it is singly the oddest, most interesting and most lonesome place in England. ***************************************************** Never underestimate the importance of the physical landscape of a novel. Nicola Barker chose to set her novel ?Wide Open? in Sheppey for good reason...
