whirlpool awo/d4505 - brilliant!

Advantages: quick wash and hand wash programs
Disadvantages: none

...The whirlpool awo/d4505 is a fab washing machine! Altogether there are 4 of us in the house, and I have to do at least 2 loads a day! We have had the machine for 18 months now, and it has never had a problem. There are so many different cycles that you can always find one not only to suit your washing needs but also your timing too. My washing always comes out clean, smelling great - which isn't my experience with previous machines ive had. I use the brilliant 30 minute wash a lot. I have so much to get through, to be able to do a small load and have it drying is fantastic, rather than every load lasting a long time - especially with school uniforms that get yoghurt and paint down them and need to washed and dried by the next morning! PRODUCT INFORMATION The machine has 4 indicators on it. One is to show you when the door...

Whirlpool AWOD4505

Advantages: Queit, very good spin, good wash and overall excellent value!
Disadvantages: Can't really find one.

...A+ Energy efficiency, and while its only got a B rating on Spin, I do think it gives much better performance on that. Washing efficiency is given as A and I would agree with that one. Load weight is 5kg which is fairly standard for machines in this range. I had a Servis machine, and nothing but trouble from the moment we bought it. I have eventually relented and bought this Whirlpool as a direct replacement, costing £185-00 on offer from Co-op direct. I've immediately taken out the *8* year (yes, eight year) warranty for parts for just £25-00! Okay you still would have to pay for labour, but its pretty impressive to find a budget machine with such good warranty on its parts. It has done all we've asked of it so far - and is particularly quiet in operation, especially after the Servis machine I had. It has an anti-crease spin...

Great Budget Priced Washer

Advantages: Does the job, economical
Disadvantages: A bit noisy on spin

...difference at all in the wash results compared to washing at 40. Other energy features include an automatic "half load" function. Again this I find useful as with my old machine, I would frequently do a small wash but forget to press in the button. With my Whirlpool this is automatically done for me so I know my machine is always running as economically as possible. I would assume that this is why the machine was given an official "A+" rating for energy. Negative points There are only two negative points that I have come across so far. The first of which is the noise level when the machine is enters the final spin stage. Whilst the noise is not over excessive, it does seem noisier than other machines. The second point is the drum capacity. A lot of machines now seem to have 6 - 7Kg capacity. This model however is...

An excellent machine under rated

Advantages: Washes clean no matter how smelly or soiled
Disadvantages: None

...After the disastrous Bosch machine, I looked around the net and read some good reviews for the Whirlpool. We bought the Whirlpool for 220GBP cheap compared to 379GBP for the load of old Bosch. The Whirlpool is A rated energy efficient but here's the secret it does get water. Whirlpool has washed food stains, soiling (some quite heavy from sons DIY), cat odours from his blankets and everything comes out fresh and clean. I have owned this machine for nearly a year and half, and have never had a problem. The synthetics wash is excellent,, 30 minute quick wash does socks and undies and the cotton wash cleans. The only disadvantage is that a larger family would need the 6kg so size does count. I recommend this machine to a couple or small family with a limited budget. P.S. There are plenty of 2nd hand Boschs for sale but very...

Get your kicks from errr... Root 6

Advantages: Powerful, Portable, Looks like a space-gun
Disadvantages: Price,. Noise

...around. Perhaps surprisingly, it was a fair few years before Dyson made the leap from "regular" vacuum cleaners to handheld ones. In fact, they only came on the market last year. I can only guess that it took them this long to perfect the design - or think up the marketing that would allow them to maintain their premium price-tag. Regardless of the cause of this delay, Dyson finally got a handheld to market in the form of the DC16 Root 6 in "Steel & Yellow". Looking more like a hand-gun from Star Wars than a Dustbuster(tm), it's got a certain gadgety charm. In fact I'd be so bold as to guess that most are bought by men for no other reason than they do look remarkably like a Star Wars prop... what next, a feather duster that looks like a light-sabre? Finished in a fairly tough mix of yellow and swirly grey metallic plastic (not...

Panasonic Lumix TZ6, Versatile compact with great image quality

Advantages: Fantastic little camera with 12 x zoom & 10.1MP (better than TZ5), but cheaper than TZ7
Disadvantages: No HD movie mode, not very cheap

...The Panasonic Lumix TZ6 is a great little camera that I have used to compliment my large DSLR (a Nikon D90 I have also reviewed), which is too big and expensive to be taken everywhere. Specification The TZ6 is compact camera with 10.1 MP, which is plenty of pixels for all but the larger prints and harshest crops. This means that in normal conditions there will never be pixelation, in fact too many megapixels squashed onto a sensor can actually reduce the image quality. The most important feature of this camera is the 12x zoom, 25mm wide angle, Leica lens. Leica is a quality brand, and this lens is no exception, it produces quality images and the lens slides out of the camera quickly and smoothly. There is no lens cap, but slide across covers, as in most other digital compacts. Design For such a versatile camera, it is...

Panasonic Lumix TZ6 - metal-bodied compact zoom

Advantages: Sturdiness, Ease of use, Autofocus Tracking
Disadvantages: Overshadowed by the TZ7, Tries to do everything for you

...I always find it a little strange when a company releases two similar models at the same time, especially when the price difference is only around £40. The Panasonic Lumix TZ6 and TZ7 are similar stable-mates, with the TZ7 being the superior of the two. Having said that, the extra features of the TZ7 are things I can quite comfortably live without, such as the superior video capability with stereo sound, an HDMI output, and the ability of the camera to recognise up to 15 of your friends when they appear in a picture. Why would I want that? I don't have 15 friends - and even if I did, I'm sure I could remember them myself! The TZ6 is aimed at people who want to take nice pictures but don't really want to know how those pictures are achieved. Almost everything is designed to be automatic and intuitive, and there is some pretty...

Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Whirlpool Gas Range

Advantages: Push button...compared to dials
Disadvantages: Whirlpool maintenance men could take a while to fix it

...I actually recieved my Whirlpool Gas Range as an early Christmas gift last year. My soon to be father in law and I had went and looked at Gas Ranges the previous day (Keeping in mind...I didn't know he was going to buy one for me...and of coarse I pointed out almost the most expensive one they had!). Well he must not have minded because I woke up the next morning and the guys were taking it out of their truck and into my home! I have wanted a brand new Whirpool with the push buttons (instead of the old dials) for about two years now! I finally have one. Let me start off with some of the features which all Whirlpool Gas Range's have. 1)Oven vents - This is where the hot air and moisture escape from while you are using the oven. 2)Surface burners - These are what you put your pans on to cook the food (flat pans are recommended...
