...I really enjoyed my stay at the Seacliffe Hotel in Whitby. I Arrived there for a 4 night stay, late on Saturday night , I have a lovely warm welcome from the receptionist, Throughout the holiday the staff were very kind and made me feel right at home! The room I was situated in was right at the top of the hotel and I had a lovely sea view, The room I was in was small but not too small, and the bed was very cosy! I got the best nights sleep in years! There was tons of tea and coffee avaliable, which has always being a bit of a problem when I've stayed at hotels as they havent given me enough. I was very pleased with the size of the bath, and the fact the water was always lovely and warm, I had a bath every night after my long walks sight seeing round whitby, it was great to soothe the aches and pains! The breakfeast avaiable...

Walking in a Whitby Wonderland

Advantages: Spectacular setting, great northern seaside tradition
Disadvantages: Tricky to get round in parts, far too easy to stuff your face!

Whitby's wonderful harbour

Advantages: Lots of history, plenty to see and do

...Whitby is a small fishing town in the north east of England and in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful picturesque seaside locations in this part of England. The town itself has a real old worldly feel to it with its bustling narrow streets and each week thousands of visitors descend on the town to soak up its charm. ...Whitby is situated in the North of England and is a seaside resort; it?s classed as a Town and is very busy during the summer season. It is divided really into two parts the East Side, which is the older part, and the West Side, which is the more modern part. These are separated by an old Swing bridge, which regularly opens to let passing fishing boats through. There is a cobbled Street that contains the more Olde Worlde shops, gifts that are a little different, plus a Glass shop that makes ornaments and the famous Lucky Ducks that you can actually watch the glass being blown. Wish you were in Whitby, but bring a coat ... !

Advantages: Lovely place, nice atmosphere, not over-run by pests
Disadvantages: journey was difficult, was rather too commercial

..., here are a few I would recommend: THE MAGPIE: This is a little fish and ship shop next to the Magpie hotel/inn/restaurant. It does the most gorgeous fish and chips and is very clean. It allows you to put the salt and vinegar on so you can control the amounts you put on, however fish and chips is definitely best when covered in salt and vinegar. The chips are sublime and the batter on the fish is absolutely gorgeous and they have their recipes down to a fine art. The Best Chip Shop in Whitby, but their fish and chip trays are very nice too as they read: ?The Great British Take-Away!? My thoughts exactly! HONEYZ: For gorgeous soaps. This is a nice chilled little shop on the road below the abbey steps. It has the most gorgeous soaps and bath bombs and although it isn't cheap it's a little bit like major brand Lush although a lot cheaper...

Whitby - Heartbeat country

Advantages: olde world not spoilt
Disadvantages: not wheelchair friendly

...Whitby, a charming harbour town with steep streets and cobbled narrow alleys in the east part of the town. The town is split into two by the River Esk and the harbour, with a swing bridge connecting the two parts. Besides its fishing heritage, fresh fish available daily, it's claim to fame is that the town is where Dracula come ashore in the famous Dracula" book by Bram Stoker. The churchyard, of the parish church of St Mary, which inspired him is reached by 199 steps from the harbour, all upwards! The other major "son" of the town is Captain Cook. James Cook was an apprentice seaman here and the house is now a museum dedicated to him. There is a bonze statue of him overlooking the harbour. Besides the shops and harbour you can journey further afield, south to Robin Hood Bay for fossil hunting, visiting the small fishing...

Whitby is Delightful

Advantages: Beautiful. Quaint. Historical. Links to Dracula,

...prevent scurvy. Being a full blooded Yorkshireman who spoke his mind,he often fell foul of the stuffy English "Establishment".. The little gem is a fishing port and historically played a prominent role in the whaling trade. You will see the Whalebone Arch in the town. Today the fishing fleet still unloads its catch and gives a nice nautical feel to the place. Whitby,archirecturally is stunning,with its winding cobbled streets and its highly attractive houses and cottages. It could be described as quaint in the best possible sense of the word. You can eat well in Whitby and the fish n'chips here are delightful, and,as ever in Yorkshire, you get value for money. Whitby - a place to visit

.... WEST CLIFF The newer town is called as West Cliff which the home of quayside. The railway was brought to Whitby by George Hudson only nineteenth century. Only after that Whitby became famous town and a holiday resort. Wide streets, elegant crescents, boarding houses and hotels are laid on west cliff across the harbour of the old town. There is a small harbour front which fish markets and loads of shops and fish and chips shops. WHITBY LIFEBOAT MUSEUM It is situated in pier road and its one of the best museums of the country. It has the gold metals won by various crew members, and more fascinating crafts of the hand made boats of the previous centuries. On seeing them we could get a good amount of knowledge about the historic heritages. It's really amazing to see them. Inside the Whitby Museum discover the life story of the town...
