Whittard of Chelsea - a haven for a tea or coffee addict
Advantages: Friendly staff, good product range, frequent sales
Disadvantages: Can be expensive; ranges can sell out sometimes
...I have always been a tea enthusiast, and I think it tastes best when it?s made in a teapot and enjoyed from a pretty teacup or mug. It?s even better presented on a tea-tray with a proper milk jug.
I consequently enjoy popping into Whittard?s whenever I?m looking for anything crockery-related, or even just to browse.
They sell a wide selection of crockery: cups and saucers, mugs, small plates, dinner plates, bowls, teapots, jugs, glasses, plastic picnic-ware, and anything else of that type that you?d need. They stock a number of different ranges at a time, and most the ranges seem to be sold over a fairly long period, meaning that a collection can be bought gradually, although they are eventually discontinued.
As well as crockery, Whittard?s sells a variety of tea, infusions, coffee, hot chocolate, sweets and chocolates. There are...

Whittards supreme coffee for the discerning buyer
Advantages: Whittards is coffee and tea, and chocolate
Disadvantages: None
...Let's get one thing straight. Whittards is not exactly cheap. But that's not the point, is it? If someone wants to buy Cheap-o-blend Coffee ("friends, this coffee is guaranteed made from the finest floor sweepings of a Columbian coffee warehouse!") then they will probably not want to even consider visiting Whittards.
Because Whittards is reassuringly up market in pricing. Though the careful shopper can get some real bargains, if they shop carefully.
Whittards is chock full of fantastic varieties of coffee. Almost every type of coffee thst you could ever think of is there, within the walls of your Whittard shop. Well, OK, almost all types of coffee, as I have never seen Wolf coffee or Civet cat coffee on sale at a Whittards, though I am not really sure I would want to in any case. (Those types of coffee are made from beans that...

This is precisely my cup of tea ....
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...I have an addiction . If I don't get my fix every day, I start to become irritable, snapping at anyone who comes near me . I start to shake, my eyes start to roll back in my head, and my head spins on my shoulders like that girl from the exorcist .
Well, maybe I am exaggerating , but I do have a bit of a tea addiction - I even have penpals with whom I swap teabags . It should therefore probably come as no surprise then that I'm a frequent visitor to my local branch of Whittards, located on Bridlesmith Gate, near to the Broadmarsh shopping centre .
Lets have a look in the window first shall we - here we see a colourful display of instant fruit teas, the artistic containers stylishly stacked, with several cups and mugs set around them. Its all very colourful and attractive, especially when you also see the sign in lovely big letters...

Creamy malted hot chocolate
Advantages: Dairy free, malted, tasty
Disadvantages: More hassle than instant
...Whittard of Chelsea is a fairly up-market high street shop that sells a wide variety of teas, coffees, sweets and kitchen equipment. In these hard economic times, I don't go here very often, but I do like to buy a jar of something as an occasional treat to myself. I'm a big fan of hot chocolate, and they do a wide range of interesting and varied flavours of hot chocolates. Some of their hot chocolate varieties (like this one) don't contain milk products - something which, sadly, many main supermarket brands fail to manage. This lack of milk is an advantage for us asthmatics looking for a winter warmer, but it does make it more of a hassle for everyone else wanting instant hot chocolate - you have to stir it into hot milk rather than just adding water.
I bought their Dreamtime luxury malt hot chocolate as part of a "3 for £12" offer...

Tamper Tamper
Advantages: Good size and weight easy to clean
Disadvantages: None
....
Cost :-
My Gaggia Classic that i wrote a review on has a 58 cm diameter portafilter this is a commercial size one, normally home machines have the 53 cm portafilter.. The plastic tamper that came with the machine was OK but did not seem sturdy enough, so started shopping around for a new one.
Prices varied hugely from £5 up to a staggering £60. Just as i picked the one i like Christmas arrived and guess what, my daughter had bought me the Whittard of Chelsea Stainless Steel Tamper and at the bargain price of £5.
Tamper :-
The tamper is shiny stainless steel, it does show up finger prints and marks a lot but with it only being a small item it is easily cleaned. Some surface scratches have appeared on the tamper heads but these are only superficial and have not affected performance.
The weight is 125 grammes and the height is 6.5 cm...

Chelsea FC
Advantages: A big club that's getting bigger.
Disadvantages: All football stuff costs too much.
...FC stands for Football Club and not Foreigners Club as some people might think. I am sure I wasn?t the only one who thought Chelsea was on the way up, up and up and who was surprised when the Big Change struck the club.
Has it all been worth it?
Well, at the time of writing this review they have just put an end to a run of back form (there is no such thing as bad luck when it comes to a dived stretch of ninety minutes of football) by beating Manchester City. Yeah, City, not United (Sorry City fans!). It was, I think, the first match played with the new boys being, somewhat, settled in and in the first signs of the new, slightly more defensive formation. It works. Chelsea has the big guns up front and Chelsea has the cash to ensure that they always have big guns up in front, so, what they need to concentrate working on is...

Mulled Wine tea - Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea
Advantages: Refreshing
Disadvantages: Not like tea, not like mulled wine
...As the days get colder and snowier, I think more and more about going on holiday someplace in the Southern hemisphere where it is currently summer. However, this is impractical and expensive and I have to find a suitable alternative, which usually means festive treats and goodies. And what more festive at Christmas than a nice glass of mulled wine? But when I'm at work, I figured that I'd better stick to the caffeine instead. But on a recent trip to Whittards, I discovered that perhaps I didn't have to entirely pick between the two if I bought their mulled wine flavour instant tea drink.
The pack was one of their standard big stackable tubs of 500g, which cost £5, but was on their 3 for £12 deal. It's a bit pricey for me, but not so much that I won't buy it to see if it's any good. The tubs contain a grainy substance looking...

Tea and Coffee galore
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Now I must say before I start writing that I o work for Whittard, but I am going o give a very honest frank opinion on what I think of my shop.
- Store Layout -
Wow! I used to go in there before I worked there and I was always very impressed. It looks good and other stores need to take note of it. It is always clean, we always clean, all the time, if anything in the store is moved it is given a good clean. Everything is always well laid out. It isn’t shoved on the shelf and we do spend time laying it out. You can always see all the products that you are going to buy, including, china, machines, coffee and tea. I think this is very good as you can, touch and smell what you are buying and see if it is right for you. Not many stores do this these days; you just go in, see it in a box and have to buy it. Being able to see all...

Bun's from Chelsea
Advantages: yummy
Disadvantages: fattening
...Yes the Chelsea bun does originate from Chelsea although you can buy them nation wide .It is thought that the Chelsea bun was first made in the Chelsea bun house on or near Grovesnor Row or Jew's Row. This bun shop was making Chelsea buns from the mid 17th early the shop closed in 1839 when it closed. This shop was visited by many including royalty, king Georges 11 and 111 on route to the nearby Ranelagh Pleasure Gardens.
Availability
Now I must admit to liking a Chelsea bun. I either buy mine from Tesco's or the local bakers and I have even made my own. Chelsea buns seem to be available at all bakers and supermarkets.
The price for a pack of 4 Chelsea bun s at tesco is £1.09p 27 each each at Sainsbury's £1.05p for a 4 pack thats 26p each, from my local bakers it costs 75p each there. The baker's bun is bigger fatter...

What a mug I've got
Advantages: good mug
Disadvantages: none
...got a good sized mug of tea at my friends the other day in a Whittard of Chelsea Hand-Painted Stripe Jumbo Mug This mug measures D9cm x H11cm
This mug is not a fine china mug but a sturdy ceramic one.
This mug as you can guess from the title is a striped one the stripes go around the circumference of the mug not up and down. The stripes are fairly thin orange, blue, yellow, white, the handle orange and white. The inner glaze of the mug is orange.
This mug is one of a mix and match range from Wittards of Chelsea. There is a different style of mug in the same design and also a matching tea pot, matching coasters , matching plates , matching cups of differing styles all with the stripe design , Also if you wish to mix your designs Wittards do a spotty set or a Geometric design the same shape and colours these would not look...
