Advantages: Offers the BIGGEST savings on books
Disadvantages: Takes 1-2 days longer to ship compared to Amazon.co.uk

...The Internet bookshop at www.bookshop.co.uk is actually a division of WHSmith Online, and so, offers the best price on many books as do WHSmith. I have read many good reviews on amazon.co.uk offering the bets value and service for money, but I have compared lots of prices and the online bookstore which offers the best value for money isn't amazon.co.uk (amazon.com does, but that's US)but rather WHSmith Online. They take 1-2 days longre to ship compared to amazon, but what is 1-2 days when you can make much more savings? Check it out yourself - I think you won't be disappointed.... Read review

Advantages: Brillant selection, well organised
Disadvantages: Very variable selection across stores

...As a student, I'm always wandering around bookshops for either essential course texts, books to read for escapism, travel guides and stationary. WHSmith's delivers all these things. Under one roof you can find a good selection of books, magazines and newspapers. The WHSmith's that I have visited (Peterborough, Edinburgh, London Kings Cross, Oxford, Ilford, York and St Andrews) are all excellent. The store is well organised with clear and sensible sections. Everything is easy to find. The Oxford store is a bit of a maze, but only because it has such an excellent selection. Travel guides are plentiful during the summer and WHSmith's tend to not sell out of the more popular guide books - a big plus. They also carrry a good selection. ...WHSmith is everywhere. It is possible to class a shopping precinct as good if there is a Smiths there. WMSmith sells a little bit over everything. Their selection of books is not great. They sell all the top selling paperbacks and hardbacks, but that's about it. If you want to buy the complete set of, say, Ian Rankin, there is no way you will find every one there. Waterstones and Blackwells will, of course. However, WHSmith do seem to have special offers all the time, which seem to give a little (but not a lot) back to the customer, like a 'buy 2 get one free'. Sale items are not that generous, when there are other stores, particularly web-based ones, who offer far more competitive prices.... Read review

Advantages: Brilliant service and vast range of products
Disadvantages: In one store I visited (Bluewater, I think), the staff didn't even look at their customers, and were visibly chewing gum - aaaaaaaaaargh!

...WHSmith is one of my favourite places to shop. I guess the main reason for this is because of the incredible range of products (with the exception of supermarkets, there can't be that many shops that sell CDs through to books, magazines to DVDs, and a range of gifts). I am also a fan of this store because of the incredible service I have received at my local store. The book ordering service is very efficient, and extremely useful, because often you can order a book even if you only know its title but not its author or vice versa. The staff I have dealt with have been very polite and friendly as well as very willing to help, yet it is reassuring that the customer does not feel pressured into buying. Now that WHSmith have a website, life just gets better! :)... Read review

Advantages: Getting reward
Disadvantages: Having to carry the card

...The WhSmiths reward card is one of the best reward set up programs that I have come across. Why is it so good? They provide you with an easy to use card in which you display when purchasing and products from the shop. They add on a good amount of points and give you a value of your card on the receipt. A good thing about this card is that they don’t sent you pointless and sometimes unusable vouchers, they give you the value you have on you card of any product that you what, it only took me about half a year the get a free £10 CD. Problems Although this is one of the best cards I still don’t think they give you enough of a reward for your trouble to shop there. ...WHSmiths is good value and they also deliver next day, But what ever you do don't complain. I ordered 13 Videos of WHSmiths they had to back order them, so they arrived in ones and two, in one of the delivery I receaved two of the same Video, Because of this I sent them an e-mail asking what they wanted me to do, after that I did not recive the Last Video and I could no longer get into my account so I can only guess that they have canceled my account. SO DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SURVIS... Read review

Advantages: Branch or home delivery, clubcard points and a much wider range than on the high street.
Disadvantages: Confusing subsidiary companies, poor site design and mistakes.

...Introduction It's just what you think it is… the high street store W.H.Smith available online. Just like your local branch, the online store has the following to offer: books, CDs, DVDs, videos, computer games, accessories, magazines, stationery, hardware, gifts and vouchers. Plus you can use your clubcard and gain points too. I used to shy away from buying things over the internet as I'd rather see, feel or try things first. More recently I've been ordering online as I believe the cost of postage is offset by the cost of petrol and car parking charges plus many online stores now offer to refund the item, P&P and your return postage costs too. I live in a rural area and the closest shops are small with little stock and poor choice. The Site Boring, dull, unimaginative… is all I can say for the design. The traditional WHSmith blue... ...I’ve had mostly very good experiences with WHSmith.co.uk, though I believe there are some areas on which they could improve. I’ve shopped with them for about six months now and would rate my happiness with their service, overall, at about 90%. First off, I generally find that WHSmith is cheaper than Amazon. Their p&p costs slightly less and their products are normally (though not always) reduced further. When I am shopping for books/CDs/videos etc on the Internet, I normally have two windows open – one with Amazon and one with WHSmith, so I can compare prices. WHSmith usually always wins. To buy from the WHSmith website, you need to register as you do with most Internet shops. ...In Leeds there's just one branch of WHSmiths in the centre, but there are other branches around the city, like in the White Rose Centre. This isn't exactly my favourite shop in the world, as you can imagine, at my age, stationery and books aren't the most exciting things around!! I always imagined WHSmiths as a book shop really, probably because that was its main trading point when I was younger. It's only recently that I've been in to buy my own books and pens that I realised there's a lot more to it! As you enter the branch in Leeds there's an esculator to the upstairs department on one side and on the other there's a huge selection of magazines and papers.
