Wide angle fun with a capital F

Advantages: Solid build, great image quality, super-wide view
Disadvantages: f4 aperture doesn't give very deep bokeh

...Overview ------------- I bought the EF 17-40 f4 L about 3 years ago in order to take urban landcape pictures, as buildings often don't fit into a 28mm "frame". This optic is the widest in the f4 constant aperture series of zoom lenses in the trio that includes the 24-105 super-zoom and the 70-200 telephoto, all of which I now own. At the time, I owned a 20D body and the 17-40 was my first L Series purchase as the 1.6 crop factor on the sensor meant that you had to go for a super-wide angle lens to get even moderate wide angle shots (17mm becomes 27mm on an APS sensor). Now I own a 5D body and can make full use of the extraordinary wide angle of view this lens can provide. Being a standard EF mount (not EF-S), this lens can be used on all the Canon bodies. Great wide angle for a good price

Advantages: low price, very wide, good quality
Disadvantages: not a particularly 'fast' lens

...As a photographer and a student I have a need for (expensive) equipment and very little money with which to buy it. When the need arose for adding a wide angle lens to my kit I did alot of research - looks at specifications, read reviews online/magazines and tested different lenses my self in shops. The 10-20mm by sigma is a fantastic wide angle lens for the price - many wide angle lenses don't go down as far as 10mm but when shelling out money for a wide angle lens my thought was to find the widest possible for the best price and this was it. The lens doesn't let you down in other areas either - the image quality is superb (no visible chromatic abberation). To hold the lens is a good weight and feels well made. The lens is capable of automatic focus as well as manual. If you look at the specifications this isn't exactly the fastest lens...

G5 Wide Angle Lens

What all of these books have in common is a hand-puppet built in to the centre of the book, which forms the basis of the story. In this particular story, the star is Wendy a wide-mouthed frog. All that is required to bring Wendy to life is for the reader to pop their hand into the puppet and mimick Wendy's mouth movements.
