Why choose the Wii?
Review of Nintendo Wii by swk2000

Advantages: Fun, Cheap, Childfriendly, Great First Party Games, Virtual Console
Disadvantages: Lack of Third Party, Lack of Graphics Power

...it is a very good time to buy a Wii. Nintendo have always been the best at pleasing their fans and this service doesn't fail on the Wii. Bringing back such classics to download over the Wiis Virtual Console is a godsend to any retro-gramer missing an old fix. The Wii also offers the most childfriendly of consoles. Now don't misinterpurate this. The Wii is currently selling fast due to its popularity with Children and Adults of all ages. Though it is the most childfriendly this does not mean its not the most fun and I would definatly call it a 'Party Console'. However, the Wii is not without its bad points, which is why it is not my favourite of the three consoles. Without coming back to the Lack of Graphics I mentioned earlier the Wii does lack something Vital for the lifeforce of a console and thats Third Party Support. Currently all the games... Read review

Wii Sports
Review of Wii Sports (Wii) by slate_dawg

Advantages: Pick up and Play, innovative gameplay
Disadvantages: graphically challenged

...! - Boxing (Nunchuck required): As is sounds...punch using the wii remote and nunchuck and prepare to get tired! As well as this, there is Wii Training (where you pass challenges within the sports and unlock further party games) and Wii Fitness, where the Wii training is used in a test situation to measure your "wii fitness." As I mentioned earlier, the graphics are not at the level of other games or consoles. However, this game really makes full use of the Wii remote and when played with friends can make the game even more fun, or even solo as you battle against the computer to become a pro. The game itself has an almost unlimited lifespan. The solo play is completed very easily but like its compatriot Wii Play, this game has been designed to make use of the remote and when played in multiplayer mode, hours of fun are guaranteed... How does online play on the Wii sound?
Review of Datel LAN Adapter for Nintendo Wii by mrten_8

Advantages: Easy to set up, cheaper than the official product, online wii-ness
Disadvantages: None

...Having got very fed up with the unpredictability of the Nintendo USB WiFi adapter, I decided I neeeded a wired internet connection for my Wii. It would be faster, and more reliable than the wireless connecton, which would in turn mean I'd be keeping more of my hair. Put simply, I had to have a wired internet connection for my Wii. Now I had 2 choices. I could either wait for, potentially, months for Nintendo to release an official Wii LAN Adapter, or I could take a risk and go with a third party, unofficial adapter from Datel. I took the risk, and I have to say, it's one of the best things I've bought for my Wii so far. I usually only ever buy officail gaming products, but in this case, my risk was well worth it. I bought my adapter from play.com for £14.99 a few months back now. The product came in a small, but descriptive box... Read review

Wii - a great console
Review of Nintendo Wii by leafy81

Advantages: completely interactive, easy to use, lots of fun
Disadvantages: limited multiplayer games

...I was given the nintendo wii as a birthday gift from my boyfriend in August. I have wanted one for absolutely ages and was not disappointed. The first thing i did was go out and get extra nun-chucks, an extra controller and 3 more games! This is a great interactive console that is great for all the family as well as wii parties with friends (whilst you can pass your one wii remote around between you, it's probably better if you invest in a few more remote controllers). My mum and my 8 year old brother equally enjoyed playing wii sports and rayman's raving rabbits (an excellent game by the way) The wii works best (obviously) with a spacious room and a good sized tv - then you can really get into the swing of things without the fear of bashing your fellow player. I've had a few such incidences because you can't help but really go... Read review

another dimension to the wii console!
Review of Nintendo Wii Balance Board by milesy19912007

Advantages: adds many extra hours of wii play and is great fun at party's
Disadvantages: may be issues over maximum load and durability as it works off pressure sensors

...The balance board is the latest addition to the ever expanding collection of wii add ons. What is it you say, well to put it simply it is a pressure activated pad. It is split into two halves on for each foot or side of your body. The board comes bundled with a packaged activities game much like wii sports that are all cantralised round getting the most enjoyment out of the balance board, these activite=ies include stretches and aerobic excercises all demonstrated on the screen. The game is called wii fit and encompasses the old fitness element there are also party games to enjoy with friends or as a family etc. The board works not like any other console by using pressure pads under each side in order to detect and adjust to even the slightest pressure changes and reposition your character on the screen. The technology is really... Read review

I need to spend a penny.....
Review of Nintendo 2000 Wii Points by Dogbert

Advantages: The key to retro gaming heaven, No need for a Credit Card, great gift idea
Disadvantages: Far too much packagaing, none!

...installed on your Wii and at present, the content available for download can be split into two categories, Virtual Console and Wii Software. The Virtual Console allows you to download classic games from the good old days. Each Friday Nintendo kindly adds more titles to the catalogue and the list of games and the best part is that this isn’t a Nintendo only party. Games are available form the NES, SNES and N64, but also from Sega’s MegaDrive and NEC’s Turbografx (big in Japan). The Virtual Console has plenty of room for other consoles too and there is talk of Neo Geo games being made available in the future. Wii Software is where you can download new Channels and updates for the Wii such as the Internet and Everybody Votes Channels. Many of these are free, but there is scope to make software available to be bought. In essence, RETRO GAME... Read review

Next-Gen Graphics? No. Next-Gen Technology? Yes!
Review of Nintendo Wii by ElistheG

Advantages: Original Control System, Great Value.
Disadvantages: Sold out Everywhere!, Lacks the Power of its Rivals, Lacks DVD Player!

...of the Wii, which brings me onto the Wii's main feature, the infared sensors. Nintendo provide you with a rather flimsy Sensor bar which gets stuck to the top or bottom of your TV, and picks up movement from your Wireless Wiimote, allowing you to use the Wiimote to swing swords, aim guns, hit tennis balls, compete in boxing matches and much more. Apart from the IR Sensor the Wiimote includes an A button, a B Trigger, a DPad, a - and + buttons, a home button, a power button, and 1 and 2 buttons, its shaped like a slim TV Remote, the only downside is that it eats batteries, and is held in right hand(if you're right handed). The nunchuk controller is then plugged into the Wii mote and is held in the left hand and has C and Z buttons and an analog stick. Current Game Titles 8.5/10 The game titles currently on the Wii consist mainly of party games... Read review

Once picked up. it is hard to put down
Review of Nintendo Wii Remote by sit2020

Advantages: New way to play games
Disadvantages: Battery life

...the Wii remote communicates with the Nintendo Wii. What about the batteries? Well the Wii remote takes 2 AA batteries. Nintendo have said you will get up to 60hrs of use from one set of batteries. I have found that depending on the type of batteries, this can be seriously reduced. In one case I got less than 2hrs from a battery change (ok they were cheap batteries that I had bought from a pound shop). Do not skimp on cheaper batteries, you want to be looking at alkaline batteries as a minimum. Although Nintendo do not recommend using rechargeable batteries, I personally think that using rechargeable makes sense; they work and also work out cheaper than buying an endless supply of disposable batteries. Recently we bought a third party recharger designed specifically for the Nintendo Wii remote, this has made life easier as we do not have... Read review

Wii sports
Review of Wii Sports (Wii) by vikki-adam

Advantages: Great fun, for all the family
Disadvantages: none

...I have owned Wii sports for aout 6 months now and can honestly say i am still hooked. Whether i am training on my own, playing my son or bringing it out at a family party the game has never ceased to amaze. This game includes five games which are - boxing, bowling, golf, baseball and tennis. I'll give a short opinion on each one. Boxing - Great fun for all the family. My 2.5 year old son loves to play and beat mummy up lol! It is also GREAT excercise and i'm puffed out after a few sessions of this. I personally love this mini game on its own! Bowling - Controls are a it tricky for younger ones but is great fun all round. Is great especially in my area where the local bowling lanes have shut down! Have all that fun but in your own home! Baseball - Not one of my faveourites but my son adores this! Use your wii controller like a real... Read review

Wii Sports
Review of Wii Sports (Wii) by kav1patel

Advantages: A game for everyone, easy and fun, Free with the wii console
Disadvantages: Motion-sensing controls are sometimes a little erratic

...This is a great product. The wii was the first gaming console i have ever brought. Wii Sports comes free with the console which is great. There are a number of games you can play. Baseball boxing bowling golf tennis There is also a learning zone. It is very easy to play the games for example for the baseball game all you have to do is pick up the Wii remote and swing it like a baseball bat to whack the ball out of the park, or throw the ball in an underhanded rolling motion to the batter. For tennis, all you have to do is swing the remote as though it was a tennis racket. You can play one, three or five games of tennis. Bowling is a good game to play with your friends you start off holding the remote in front of you pointing straight up, then you move it down, back, and forward again just like the way you would play a real game...
