Advantages: A great game which has some good multiplayer options!! Disadvantages: A little pricey with an RRP of £50.
...WiiSportsResort
This is a new game which was introduced last year to bring in the new Nintendo Wii controller adapters the WiiMotionplus which gives more control over the movement in the Wii games which are played on the console.
The game WiiSportsresort is a second game to the original WiiSports game, which came with most of the Wii consoles when they first came out, in fact they may have come with all the Wii consoles!
WiiSportresort comes with one controller adapter, which isn?t much good considering a lot of the games are two player?some of which can ONLY be played two player!
The game itself though is great value for money, it has an RRP of £49.99, this is for the game and the controller adapter (see my review previous to this on the controller itself!), but of course prices vary depending on where you shop...
Advantages: Some great mini-games that really show off the MotionPlus accessory Disadvantages: Expensive to fully kit out two remotes. One or two less compelling mini-games
...INTRODUCTION
Our Nintendo Wii has been hibernating under our TV, gathering dust since shortly after Christmas. The Wii party games made a brief appearance for the holidays and the shine of Wii Fit wore off after our New Year?s resolutions met with their usual success and longevity (i.e. none). It?s a fab console, but it?s very ease of ?pick up and play? makes it just as easy to ignore in favour of other pursuits. However, we were intrigued by the promise and novelty of the new WiiMotionPlus gadget, and when WiiSportsResort (WSR) ? essentially WiiSports 2 ? was announced, it was immediately added to our Wish List. As such, I was delighted when I received it for my birthday last week, and It has played a part in our nightly entertainment since.
WHAT?S IN THE BOX
WSR comes packaged with the game (in its own DVD...
Advantages: Lots of fun for all the family. Superb graphics. Compellingly addictive. Disadvantages: Only 12 sports featured, some of which aren't that fun to play.
...For those that own a Nintendo Wii, it won't be new knowledge to discover that the console is in many ways unique to other computer consoles in the market. For starters, there are no wires required for the controllers; all movements (even the slightest jitters if you use the WiiMotionPlus) are transmitted and you can get a genuine sense that you are playing the game for yourself in real life. This is certainly true with WiiSportsResort. Similar to WiiSports, each of the sports is set around the fictional Wuhu Island.
So what sports are there? Well some may argue that some aren't that well-known (or indeed all that popular), but each of them offers players the opportunity for a unique gaming experience. There are 12 sports in total, and up to 4 players can play consecutively in most of the games.
SWORDPLAY:
This is basically...
Advantages: fun forf whole family, lots of games, sensitive controls Disadvantages: expensive extra devices needed for multi-player
...Since its release for retail purchase in 2006 the Nintendo Wii has enjoyed immense success. One of the key reasons for this is probably that it reaches a wider demographic than the majority of games consoles and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Wiisportsresort, released as a kind of improvement on wiisports was released in july of this year, and is no exception, providing entertainment for people of all ages, and has the potential of being enjoyed by the whole family.
Wiisports is set on a island beach resort, and allows the playing of a number of different games, either as a single player or for up to four players. The game requires an additional device in the form of wiimotionplus, which is a more sophisticated sensing device than the regular wii remote, and is able to pick up more complicated and sensitive movements when...
Advantages: fun to play with family and friends, lots of game choices, some really fun games, multiplayer Disadvantages: very expensive, some potentially boring games, not as well designed as it could be.
...WiiSportsResort was my youngest brothers birthday present but for the purpose of research I decided to try it out myself.
The game is for the Nintendo Wii and has a whopping recommended retail price of £49.99 although it is currently selling on Amazon for £39.99. This price includes the game and a ?WiiMotionPlus?.
The WiiMotionPlus
This is an accessory which attaches to your Wii Remote to enhance its motion sensing capabilities. It detects and reproduces your movements in the game, so whether you are playing basketball or doing some archery, every little movement you make is accurately portrayed in the game.
The WiiMotionPlus is essential for game which is why it is included but its inclusion automatically makes the game a pricey one which is a bit of a shame. Whilst you only need one WiiMotionPlus for single...
Advantages: Good for all the family, Great fun, Entertaining, Something to do on a rainy day Disadvantages: Expensive
...that we have bought WiiSportsResort I am really glad we did because I think it is really good, a fun thing to do and I have had a really good time and enjoyed playing on it.
I have played on it LOADS since we bought it, all the family has been glued to it. When my friends came round we had a go on it then, and even my gran has played on it (unsuccessfully I might add!). So, basically the SportsResort is great for all ages and all kinds of people. I'm sure theres a game on this for everyone!
About the Game Itself
The actual game is brilliant! It?s exactly what it says in the name - a sportsresort but on the Wii. How you use the game is, you hold the motionplus remote in your hands and whenever you move your hands, the exact movement is mimicked by your Mii on the screen! I have always thought this is really cool, so...

Review of WiiSportsResort (Wii)
Advantages: Swordplay, Bowling, Table Tennis, Wakboarding, Air Flight, Canoeing, Archery Disadvantages: Basketball, Cycling, wii motion plus recallibration, no online
...When deciding whether or not to buy this game you're going to want to know if the wiimotionplus is as accurate as it advertises and if it actually makes gameplay more fun than the original. But due to the 12 varied activities, the game is a mixed bag.
There are a lot of activities in this game which get quite tedious and repetitive. Basketball has you just raising the wiimote and thrusting it forward repeatedly. Cycling has you just shaking the wiimote and nunchuck in unison to gather momentum. It's these games you won't be playing very often.
There are also a few games that are fun, but don't use the wiimotionplus very well. Wakeboarding was simply tilting the wiimote side to side to steer where your surfboard went and thrusting it forward whenever a wave was coming. Fun, but simple.
However; swordplay, archery, bowling...
Advantages: Realistic, good gaming Disadvantages: None
....
In fact, according to an article I read, "Game reviewers 'Official Nintendo Magazine' have called the device '100% accurate' and that movements are 'captured extremely accurately'."
At the moment it looks like there are about 18 games that you can use the Wiimotionplus remote with including, to name but a few, Sportsresort, Tiger Woods Golf, Virtual Tennis 2009 and a SpongeBob game.
You can buy these remotes as part of a bundle at the moment which will include the Wii games console and different games. Prices are around £150 to £200 or you can buy the Wii remote attachments for about £20....
Advantages: Fun, Easy to play once it gets going and good for gatherings/family time. Disadvantages: interval time between games and the difficulty that a younger person mighthave getting on the game
...I Bought this game for family get togethers and partys ECT
and boy was it the best decision I made:
- The Mulitplayer Functions allow many people to play so no-one is left out. Also i foujnt the competition within the game very intense as the games are very addictive - and nobody wants to be a looser, right?
- The graphics are adequate as the wii itself is generally not known for its graphics but on a cartoon point of view i would say they were satisfactory.
- I fount the sound/sound effects within the game very encouraging as the tempo of the music gets the adrenaline pumping when in competition with other players.
- I personally think its good value for your money as its an experience the whole family can enjoy and also its not a game that once you completed you never visit it again. I find it very addictive and have been playing...
Advantages: enhances gameplay, works well, attaches easily, robust, comes with extra long wii jacket Disadvantages: expensive, needs to be brought seperately
...The WiiMotionPlus
This is an accessory which attaches to your Wii Remote to enhance its motion sensing capabilities. It detects and reproduces your movements in the game, so whether you are playing basketball or doing some archery, every little movement you make is accurately portrayed in the game.
The WiiMotionPlus is essential for the WiiSportsResort game and seems to have been designed for this intitially. So at the moment there are very few games compatible with the sensor but its introduction means that Nintendo will now be creating games that benefit/rely on its use. Whilst the WiiSportsResort game currently comes with a WiiMotionPlus sensor, you can purchase an additional one for around £18. With this game, it is not essential to have an additional remote or sensor but I would strongly recommend purchasing...
