...A Wilhelm Scream are an American Punk Rock band from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Since forming in 1996 the band have released four studio albums, 'Ruiner' being their third which was released in 2005. Containing fourteen tracks, 'Ruiner' is an incredibly strong album from the band and is one that I have listened to many times since receiving. There are not many bands out there producing this fine genre of Melodic Hardcore in quite such a way as A Wilhelm Scream, that's for sure. The album clocks in at a mere 36 minutes in length, meaning that each track is roughly two and a half minutes long - a perfect length for music of this sort. With A Wilhelm Scream there is never a dull moment, and as the band progress through their fourteen track strong album of excellence you will find yourself hotly anticipating as to what the band will...

This is what punk rock should sound like!

Advantages: Tightly crafted songs with ferocious energy behind them
Disadvantages: None, pristine album

...Fantastic offering from a vital hardcore punk band. A Wilhelm Scream (AWS) offer a massive dose of tightly crafted tracks, passionately yelled lyrics and equally savage guitar rifts. Singer Nuno Pereira tears through his songs as if he was fighting them - nobody does heartbreak and anger like him. Instrumental support is no less impressive, with guitar skills that put some of your favourite heavy metal artists to shame. Intelligently written, lovingly executed and genuine tracks - just a few of the reasons why you should buy this album. One of the best aspects of this group is their live show. Tracks such as 'The King is Dead' and 'Cancer Dream' really come into their own when you see a thousand people transferred into crazy jumping backing singers. I'll Always Love You

Advantages: Sensitively deals with grief
Disadvantages: Can be upsetting

A neighbour offers the boy a new puppy, and even though the boy knows that Elfie wouldn't mind he refuses. The story ends with the boy saying that one day he will get another pet and will tell it every night "I'll always love you." * The Illustrations * I'll Always Love You has been written and illustrated by Hans Wilhelm. The illustrations are actually watercolour pictures, and they definitely capture the spirit of both young children and puppies. The illustrations tell equally as much of a story as the text itself, if not more. Hans Wilhelm has managed to show the developing relationship between the boy and his pet, he shows Elfie making a puddle next to the boy on his potty, and both Elfie and the boy sharing...

One for the rockers out there!

Advantages: Passionate, Skillful, Anthemic Fist In The Air Music
Disadvantages: May make your ears bleed!

...Sometimes a band comes along that knocks you to the floor. The sheer power of their music is enough to make your ears bleed and your knees turn to jelly. A Wilhelm Scream are just such a band. They play hard melodic punk along the lines of Rise Against, Belvedere, Strike Anywhere etc etc, The thing that sets them apart from the many bands playing this kind of music is the almost flawless skills of the musicians. The drumming, bass lines and guitars are played at breakneck speed and with a fair amount of agression but at the same time it is still possible to single each instrument out and listen to the different parts of the tunes. On top of this the half shouted half sung lyrics again remain listenable and hold a melody without losing any of the power or agression. Wilhelm Kempff London Piano Recital 1969

Advantages: The excitement of a live performance
Disadvantages: a little background noise, but perhaps this adds atmosphere?

...I thought I had all of the available recordings of pianist Wilhelm Kempff, and was very pleased to discover this BBC Legends release of a Queen Elizabeth Hall recital dating from 1969. Kempff, in my opinion, was one of the greatest interpreters of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann, and there are also recordings of music by Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Schumann. His studio recordings are great, but fairly safe interpretations. In concert the readings are much more personal. This BBC Legends disc (BBCL 4045-2) offers some of the finest performances I have heard him give of a selection of music by Bach - Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor, Beethoven - Sonata No 22 in F major, Op54, and Schubert - Sonata in F minor D625, Three Pieces D946, and two of the first set of Impromptus (2 and 3). It?s the headland where the rivers Rhine and Moselle meet, right in the heart of the city and the name Deutsches Eck translates literally as "German corner". Now, while it is certainly quite impressive to see these two mighty rivers become one, it?s not the only reason that this spot is worth visiting. Towering over the headland, perched on an enormous plinth, there is a statue of Emperor Wilhelm I which was designed by Bruno Schmitz (who was also responsible for the war memorial in Leipzig).
