...Will & Grace is a Emmy award winning sitcom that aired between 1998-2006. The show takes place in New York City and focuses on Will Truman, a gay lawyer and his best friend Grace Adler, a straight Jewish girl who runs her own interior design firm. That show sounds boring, why is it so good I hear you ask. The casting directors hired two perfect actors to play Will & Grace. Eric McCormack who plays Will isn't too gay like someone else in the show, so it makes it seem plausible that Grace thought he was straight. Debra Messing who plays Grace is just so bubbly and eccentric that you can't help but love her. Most importantly though it's the chemistry between Will & Grace that pulls you in, I myself always thought that they'd get together in the end. Advantages: hilarious
Disadvantages: can they ever find true love?

...Is there anyone out there who HASN'T watched, or heard of, "Will and Grace"? It has recently become one of my favourite sitcoms so I decided to spread the word and review it in order to convince the unitiated to watch it - or the non-believers to give it another chance! I originally started watching "Will and Grace" when it first aired on Channel Four several years ago, at the time purely because there was nothing else decent on at the same time and it was a pleasant enough way to pass half an hour on a boring Friday night in. Then, after I moved out of my parents, I found my flatmate at the time had the first two series on dvd and we used to have "Will and Grace" marathons. I was officially hooked. After that I would drive my (ex) boyfriend mad watching reruns of it on Living when I was over at his flat. So let me convert YOU now...

Will & Grace (& Karen & Jack)

Advantages: Cracks me up with laughter
Disadvantages: Only on for half an hour

...To start you off and give you a general idea I will list the lead characters in this excellent US sitcom. THE CAST Will Trueman (Eric McCormack) is a lawyer. Grace Adler (Debra Messing) is an Interior Disigner. Jack McFarland (Sean Hughes) is an out of work actor. Karen Walker (Megan Mullally) is a mega rich woman/floozy who works for Grace. And not forgetting the wonderful Shelley Morrison (Rosa) who plays Karen`s maid. I believe that if the producers of this show had chosen others actors for these roles, the show would not be the hit it is today. I have been wathcing Will & Grace for a good while now and it is great to see that the storylines are still strong...

You'll Have a Gay Ol' Time With Will and Grace

Advantages: Witty, cleverly written and constantly humorous
Disadvantages: Gay theme may put off some

...Will and Grace has the unusual honour of being both a conventional and unconventional sitcom simultaneously. On the one hand, it deals with the same brand of witty Americanised comedy seen before in rating smashes Friends and Frasier. Oppositely, it deals with the original premise of focusing on a male-female partnership where one is a straight woman and the other a gay man. This could have spelled a recipe for disaster ; just look at the episodes of mid-1990s sitcom Ellen after she decided she was a lesbian. Every other storyline focused on her sexuality and consequently the comedic brilliance accentuated before the lifestyle change was all but abandoned. Thankfully, while everyone is aware of Will’s sexuality and many a joke is spawned from it, it is not constantly referred to using tired clichés and distasteful jokes...

Will & Grace series 6

Advantages: As funny as ever
Disadvantages: A little disjointed

...Series six yet again follows Will (gay laywer), Grace (single interior designer), Jack (gay out of work actor) and Karen (drunk!) through their hilarious antics in NYC. This series is extremely funny and in some ways does live up to the high standards set by previous series. However, series five is a very hard act to follow and I think everyone involved in the program knew that. The main problem with this series is that it doesn't have any huge plots to focus on. Series five had Grace's marriage, Karen's divorce and Will and Grace's attempts to have a baby to centre around but this season just feels like a series of unrelated episodes. That's not to say they're not hugely entertaining and just as funny as one has come to expect, but Will and Grace has always carried off the ongoing plotlines with flair. The series kicks...

Gracefully Funny

Advantages: Fun acting, excellent timing, beautiful setting, lots of laughs
Disadvantages: No smell-o-vision!!!!! Too smooth an ending.

...put you on the floor once again. The one drawback - I was a little put off by the ending which I felt smoothed things over a bit too slickly. But, then again - we're talking straight comedy here and not romantic comedy, so why complain, right? In sum, if you want to see a movie that will leave you smiling for hours and hours afterwards, this is the one to go see. And, you don't even need to get high to do so - in fact, you're better off going stone-cold sober. Who would want to miss any of the fun, right?
