Windows Xp Home Edition
Advantages: Easy to use, Main operating system, Great help available
Disadvantages: Prone to viruses, still some bugs
...Windows XP, my one and only ever operating system! I have tried Mac and tried Vista on other computers, and i don't think they compare to XP! Vista is trying to be an Apple product, and i don't think you can enjoy a mac after years of Microsoft!!! I love all the hidden features of it and trying to figure stuff out with it! Admittedly its a very dated OS nowadays but millions of computers still use it! It's a powerful operating system and it's good at what it does! Fair enough there are bugs in it still that need to be eliminated, and it is prone to viruses unlike an Apple Macintosh but i think what XP needs more than anything is a second release, exactly how it is but with all the bugs eliminated! XP2 =] Because no amount of Special Packet updates can fix an operating system! It needs to be independently and professionally improved...

my review on windows xp home edition
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: none that i know of
...hello im lewis and im going to tell you the ups and downs of xp home edition
windows xp home edition is great for home computing and will be sutible for anyone who dosent think they could use vista xp is a very very stable operating system and does not contain a qautre of the bugs vista contains. home edition is specifficly designed with you in mind it includes things such as home network set up,movie maker, media player and so much more unlike xp professional xp home edition is made for anyone who wants a easy to use not advanced operating system i used professional my self for several years in the work place and found it extremely advanced but then when i had had enough i one day switched my laptop to xp home and i had a great time it went faster, ran smoother and was very easy to use if for example you have an older computer and want...

Nice System- Windows XP Home Edition
Advantages: safty, easy to use.
Disadvantages: no much features.
...this is a very nice product, easy to use, have been use it alot of time. product with a reasonable price, which is afordable for most ppl. it is a very safty system, I do not use extra firewall to protect my computer. the revert system is very helpful, when your system does not works well, you can easily sort it out by reverting your system to the back. home edition does not have so many features as the professional edition, but it is enough for personal use, and the price is much cheaper than the professional. SP2 is emphasis on the safty of system in my understanding, i kept upgrade every week, and I surf on net everday, but have never get spyware from internet. The only disadvantage is the there is no much features on this system, it is not beautiful as some other systems....

To Window or Not To Window?
Advantages: It's Windows, slightly more secure
Disadvantages: It's Windows, still insecure
...###Intro###
Windows is probably the most successful operating systems, software that runs software, ever.
Naturally, because of this most software is for Windows, but also most viruses/hackers are too.
###The history of Windows###
Microsoft started to make 'Interface Manager' way back in '81, it was later renamed to 'Microsoft Windows'. It wasn't a pretty sight when released in 1985, and not much software was available. It was text/DOS based and the only feature that is the same is where the menu is. No start menu though.
As this didn't sell well Microsoft created a slightly different version of Windows: Windows/286. The colours remind me of a computer off Star Trek. It still could handle some programs that may ring a bell: Excel, Word for Windows, Corel Draw!, Ami, MS Calculator PageMaker and Micrografx Designer. Still...

There's No Blinds On These Windows
Advantages: Stable | User friendly
Disadvantages: Not the most secure OS | Expensive
...own computer, which came with Windows ME, which looked very nice and was easily customisable, but boy was it unstable. I found that it was "crashing" several times a day and I almost cheered on the day that my next computer that came with Windows XP arrived.
I've since owned three computers that have each come with Windows XP Home installed, and have had quite a bit of experience with it over the last three years.
---Do you need the complete package?---
This is an important question to ask yourself before buying Windows XP/SP2 Home Complete, especially as there is a huge price difference between this and an upgrade. If you are running Windows 98, 98SE or ME, then you will only need to upgrade, if you are running any other operating system (or have none at all) then you will need to buy the complete package.
Another interesting...

Don't Use Windows Millennium Edition
Advantages: Compatible with most games and programs
Disadvantages: Unstable and full of errors
...I was one of the unlucky people to have purchased my PC from PC World with Microsoft Windows ME Millennium Edition. At the time I was unaware of the possible problems that would occur from it due to my lack of knowledge about computer operating systems.
History of Windows ME Millennium
Microsoft designed this operating system between the release of Windows 98 and Windows 2000. It has adopted many features of the two operating systems combined and has the functionality and feel of Windows 98 combined with the glossy look and graphics of Windows 2000. Although this may be good in theory in reality it is a problem waiting to happen.
Why Create ME?
Simple! MONEY! Microsoft are in the business for money which is why the introduce technology now that they developed many years ago. Doing things gradually makes more profit for them...

Microsoft's XP Package
Advantages: Great new feel, built in firewall, virus protection & automatic updates
Disadvantages: Slow at times, hackers target it
...connection or a DVD player, these are just extra things that allow you to do more with your computer. You DO have to have all the things in the System Requirements part, though, otherwise the computer won't work very well.
--- Which package? ---
You are now probrably wandering whether you should get Home or Professional. To be completely honest, you don't really need Professional, it's just got a few extra features, but comes at a much higher price. I have XP Home and I use the computer for business, and it works completely fine.
But when it comes to upgrading that's different. You must be completely sure that the current operating sytem can be upgraded to XP. Please look below for information about this.
Upgrading to Windows XP Home:
Windows 3.1 - NO
Any Evaluation Version - NO
Any Server Version - NO
Windows 95 - NO
Windows 98...

Windows XP
Advantages: Tried + tested
Disadvantages: Windows Vista soon?
...Lets face it - 90% of PC users use a Microsoft OS (operating system). The vast majority of those will be using XP. So you're not exactly going to be alone if you do decide to buy this.
So, is it a good idea to go with the masses? Yes. Unless you are really techy and know software and hardware as if it were your job. Then you might plump for Linux or something similar.
XP was released ages ago - about 2000 if memory serves correctly. As someone who started out on DOS, moved to windows 3.x, then Windows 98 and then XP (via Millenium for about 1 month ;) ) then I've had a history with OS's. XP is by far the most reliable - providing you do things properly then there is generally no problem.
If you are completely just after something that you are not going to fiddle with then - no problems. If you are likely to uninstall...

Windows - XP, A life.
Advantages: Slighty more secure, everything is made to work on it
Disadvantages: Its windows, unstable.
..., which you could pick up for free in magazines, or download. Problems lay because some programs that where designed with XP in mind were not flexible enough to cope with the changes that were made to the system when this new service pack was installed. The majority of problems I have heard about or encountered relate to the internet, alot of ISP programs did not seem to like the new settings, and of course with no connection, getting support for the problems was kinda tricky.
This is why Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 was introduced, it was a way to solve problems for people because if it was pre installed with XP than any configuration errors could not happen as nothing had previously been conflicted. (Try saying that 5 times when your drunk!!)
Anyway, enough of the background to the product, let me start my actual review...

Why i hate windows
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: everything
...wasting hours of your time scanning for spyware. The extra bit of money for a Macintosh is a no brainer, considering all the time you will save not dealing with viruses, and myriad other advatages. Windows is amateurish in nearly every respect and Windows XP Home Edition might be better than previous versions, but it's still Windows. No, it does not have to do anything with Microsoft as a company, but this is some poor code that's being distributed around the world. Windows might be easy to use and have wizards for complicated tasks, and these days you'll be able to run all the popular software titles as it is the de facto operating system for desktops, but you just cannot rely on it as you will come across a ton of problems. Hardware and driver compatibility, security issues, bugs, etc, etc, etc. If Linux still confuses you, go for the Unix...
