Windows 7 overview

Advantages: Easy to use, Aesthetically pleasing, User friendly
Disadvantages: Not enough variation from vista, no desktop button

...and themes and lots of new gadgets that are moveable anywhere around the screen (unlike in vista). This can make the whole windows experience slightly more enjoyable and fun to use. One of the main difficulties I have with the new taskbar in windows 7 is that there is no longer a desktop button which instantly minimizes all windows which I used to found very useful. I?m sure this is rectifiable but I have so far been unable to find an option to open the desktop. Overall I think of Windows 7 as a great system but cannot help but feel it is not a new Operating system but just Vista plus. I would seriously recommending getting this if you have troubles with vista as it is very user friendly and much more aesthetically pleasing. Windows Vista Home Premium

Advantages: Speed, Durabliity, Function, less memory use & ease of Use
Disadvantages: Some product in-compatible

...Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium is far better that any version of windows I have used, to start at the beginning the installation is more automated and easier, making a quicker installation, although in my opinion I would not recommend an upgrade, but moreover a clean install, I would also recommend you installing Microsoft compatibility software, which can be downloaded from their website. If there is incompatible software, its a nightmare to remove and correct, i.e. when I first installed I did a direct upgrade only to find my SATA drives (64 bit incompatibility only) and Zone Alarm Internet Security was incompatible (later editions compatible, except when running 64 bit architecture). Windows 7 - it makes Vista look like a beta

Advantages: smooth, quick, easy to install and use, pretty to look at, simplified for the masses
Disadvantages: Vista should have been like this - Microsoft robbed us!

A button on the far right of the taskbar will ?show desktop? with one click, another button there allows you to bring up the task manager without hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL. The UAC controls are still in place, but not as potent or irritating, but that could be because I am used to them? The whole windows theme seems to have a ?larger? element to it. The icons, buttons and everything are just bigger, even with a really high resolution. You can however change this in the control panel, if you like things to be small, like I do. Windows 7: Is what Microsoft is saying really true?

Advantages: Runs really fast, Some very good features, any decent machine can run it.
Disadvantages: The Price. It looks like vista and it really is just a brush up on the old OS

...be able to buy the student edition which goes for around £50 giving you a huge saving of £110 of that Edition (Windows 7 Ultimate). Though you can only buy one per student. Plus, a portion of the money can go towards the school your child is at. Don't go pretending that your a student though, these sites do checks to see if this person acturlly exsists and have that same records as you. Windows 7 - The Best OS Yet!

Advantages: Great new toolbar, excellent personalisation, overall brilliant design

...hi im lewis i love computers and love everything about them i think that windows vista home premium is better than xp in some ways such as it has more capabilities eg: media centre,dvd maker etc. and is perfect for home users that want just that little bit more although it does have its problems such as it is very hard to fix if it goes wrong it does not contain things such as accessible administrator accounts in safe mode (the core admin) and recovery console and most of all there is no ms-dos programs such as cmd.exe in the start up options to help fix things say for example it got a virus it could well be very hard to fix but on the upside vista home premium is better for average computer users who enjoy working sharing photos and music if you are a begginer in computing i recommend windows xp home edition or vista basic or starter as...

...I decided to treat myself this year and buy a laptop, and after i did a saw that it came with an 'Express Upgrade'. Well i signed up for that and found that it takes 4 weeks for delivery. So in that time I got used to the speed of the laptop under XP. when it arrived (the packaging rocks by the way i began the install routine but it turned out that a majority of my software would not work under Vista (worryingly this list included windows live messenger). so instead of going through the trouble of reinstalling half my system i decided to backup my documents and reformat. that made the whole progress a lot easier, and i would recommend this way of doing it. the install routine took roughly 2 hours, but took a further 20 minuets to configure the usual stuff (time, date, accounts). despite the time taken it is still remarkably easy to...

Windows Xp Home Edition

Advantages: Easy to use, Main operating system, Great help available
Disadvantages: Prone to viruses, still some bugs

...Windows XP, my one and only ever operating system! I have tried Mac and tried Vista on other computers, and i don't think they compare to XP! Vista is trying to be an Apple product, and i don't think you can enjoy a mac after years of Microsoft!!! I love all the hidden features of it and trying to figure stuff out with it! Admittedly its a very dated OS nowadays but millions of computers still use it! It's a powerful operating system and it's good at what it does! Fair enough there are bugs in it still that need to be eliminated, and it is prone to viruses unlike an Apple Macintosh but i think what XP needs more than anything is a second release, exactly how it is but with all the bugs eliminated! XP2 =] Because no amount of Special Packet updates can fix an operating system! It needs to be independently and professionally improved...
