The default settings within search are not very well setup if you are trying to work at a deper level than just seearching your my documents folder, this is becuase "seaching in system and hidden folders" is disabled as default. This may, however, just be a personal thing i have with Windows as i feel it is more sutied to users who are not overly competent with computers, although there are tools out there that allow you to edit win xp, for the more technological savvy of you out there!. Advantages: Easy booting, less crashes, much faster and yes user friendly

True it has got a bit high system requirements like a Pentium II-300 or upper, at least 1.5 GB free HD space and a RAM of 128MB or up word yet I would say it is a necessary upgrade from Windows 95/98 or even for that matter from NT/2000. It?s far more reliable much faster, safer and when you get used to it, very user friendly. Installation is easier and takes 39 minutes if you full fill the system requirements. Advantages: Slighty more secure, everything is made to work on it

INSTALLATION Generally easy and far supreme to versions of windows that predate XP, seemed to me to be alot faster as well, although the newer spec of computer might account for this more than anything else. The addition of SP2 into the package did not slow down precedings at all. GENERAL APPEARANCE XP looks nice, the service pack has done nothing to touch this in any way, but yeah, it looks nice, very crisp and very clean and modern looking. The downside to this is that the settings are very processor hungry, they will slow down your computer more than you would imagine, on the plus side you can always change the settings to speed up the load time of windows. FUNCTIONALITY XP has deffinatly been designed for the computer illiterate. Everything has been dumbed down so most users now adays can claim to be experts, luckily again...

...Windows XP, my one and only ever operating system! I have tried Mac and tried Vista on other computers, and i don't think they compare to XP! Vista is trying to be an Apple product, and i don't think you can enjoy a mac after years of Microsoft!!! I love all the hidden features of it and trying to figure stuff out with it! Admittedly its a very dated OS nowadays but millions of computers still use it! It's a powerful operating system and it's good at what it does! Fair enough there are bugs in it still that need to be eliminated, and it is prone to viruses unlike an Apple Macintosh but i think what XP needs more than anything is a second release, exactly how it is but with all the bugs eliminated! XP2 =] Because no amount of Special Packet updates can fix an operating system! It needs to be independently and professionally improved...
