...I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better. So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. Not a hotel. Rich people used to live in this house. It was only in the 1940's that...

Hillthwaite House Hotel - a Haven!

Advantages: Value for money, service, restaurant
Disadvantages: Drive is on a very steep hill!

...I've just got back from a long weekend in the Lake District. You might question the wisdom of going to the Lakes for a weekend of watersports and outdoor activities in wintry March, and you'd be right to do so! However, the gale force winds, hail and snow were made bearable by the excellent Hillthwaite House Hotel where we were staying. The hotel was an absolute haven! Basics The hotel is a family run business and has about thirty rooms. We were staying on a special weekend offer and paid £185 each for three nights, including bed, breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in Windermere and is about a fifteen minute drive from the M6. It has a swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Advantages: perfect service, helpful staff, lovely food and rooms
Disadvantages: can be somewhat expensive but you will get great service

Villa country House Hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean
Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems

...My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there. From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces. The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc) The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will...

Windsor Inn- Windsor Out

...~~The Windsor Inn~~ ~~Booking~~ A girls holiday was in order and Cork seemed like the perfect location as it was slightly cheaper than Dublin but there was still lots to do. After trailing through many search websites we finally came across The Windsor Inn hotel. So this is where our problems began. We booked the hotel through booking.com and got to the end of the whole confirmation part and paid when a pop-up came along saying the room we'd paid for was not available. I tried contacting booking.com who confirmed that no payment had been made, I even phoned my credit card company to make sure. So an hour later we'd booked another hotel and I went to my emails and low and behold I found that I had confirmation of the Windsor Inn saying that we did have the room. ...My partner and i were recently in london for the weekend so i looked up expedia to see which hotels we could stay in and i decided on the melia white house as i thought it looked nice and was in a medium price range. The hotel is conveniently located as it is only about 3-5 minutes walk from the great portland street tube station which means that it is easy to get to other parts of london from the hotel. Also it is not far from regents park and london zoo is a 30 minute walk. We also walked to the camden market as it was only about 10-15 minutes walk from london zoo. We also found that the hotel was easy to get to from heathrow airport as you can take the tube and you 0only have to make one change of tube line. When we arrived at the hotel it looked exactly like it did on the website with the reception area looking grand...

Ennerdale Country House Hotel Cleator

Advantages: Lovely location, excellent food and staff. Rooms were great.
Disadvantages: A bit remote, Noisy shredder in the toilet.

..., and I'm not sure if they are in all of the rooms, but it became bearable once we knew what set it off! There were ground floor rooms available for the less mobile. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and it would be an ideal location for a wedding. There were events on in the hotel every day and night of our stay and although we were in the room above, we were not disturbed at all. The staff remained polite and extra helpful although they were clearly busy. We booked this hotel with superbreak and got an unbeatable deal for the May spring bank holiday weekend. We would say that the Ennerdale country house hotel is not the ritz, but for great value for money, lovely central surroundings great food and rooms it's certainly worth a look....

...Lydney House hotel is a former Georgian Merchant's House, based a few minutes walk from the centre of the market town of Swaffham in Norfolk. It is a place that my parents always choose to stay at in the area, and for my step-dad's birthday last month, I got to visit it too. Swaffham is a pleasant enough town, with a nice church, the shops aren't great and there are a lot of fast food and takeaway type places, but generally it is a good location for seeing much of Norfolk. The hotel is a family run place and we were greeted by one of the owners, given our keys and shown our rooms. To be honest the décor throughout the hotel is a bit twee and chintzy for my personal taste, but it does suit the Country House style.
