New Opinion - Temple Bar - The Never Ending Party
Advantages: The friendliest city in Europe
Disadvantages: Weather - lots of "liquid" sunshine
...~ ~ Mention the words “Temple Bar” to anyone from Europe or North America, and immediately you are likely to be regaled by stories of the wild time they have had while visiting this trendiest of bohemian districts in Ireland’s capital Dublin, or else how much they really want to go and pay a visit, as they’ve heard so much about it from their friends.
What is incredible about this is that as little as twenty years or so ago this district was nothing better than a run down (and fast becoming derelict) slum, right in the heart of the city, and not a stone’s throw from the city’s premier street, O’Connell Street.
A decision by the then Government to redevelop it as an entertainment and shopping area was almost laughed at, but has since proved its undoubted wisdom, as this district alone is...

Delightful Dublin
Advantages: Tourists from everywgere congregate here
Disadvantages: Busy
...Temple Bar is situated directly south of the river Liffey and is in the heart of Dublin life.
Tourists from all over the world congregate in the pubs and bars, making the streets constantly alive, making it nearly impossible to venture into a public house after 8pm.
If it’s action you want this is the place, with a constant buzz of street performers combined with the immediate recognizable Irish music coming from open windowed pubs.
In the daytime streets are just as congested with many tourist souvenir shops compacted together. Do shop around though as things can be brought at different priced in close proximity.
The Bad Ass café should be visited as Sinead O Conner used to work there and it’s just the right place to stop when hunger calls....

Dublin, a great place.
Advantages: A compact city
Disadvantages: None
...Dublin is a fairly small city and most of the attractions it has to offer can be reached on foot.Top places to visit are Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral, National Museum and National Gallery, and for shopping, O'Connell Street, Grafton Street, the Powerscourt shopping centre and the trendy Temple Bar area. Futher afield, the Guinness Hop Store at St. James's Gate is well worth a visit where at the end of the tour you can sample a pint or two. There are pleanty of restaurants to choose from, but I found the best places to eat were pubs, they offer very good value for money food, from snacks to roasts with heaps of potatoes and fresh vegetables. The night life is very lively especially around the Temple Bar area....

Heart of Dublin
Advantages: welcoming, clean, central
Disadvantages: restaurant price
...which is their tram is 10 minutes walk. I found this hotel to be in an excellent location although I was sick and tired of walking by the end.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to make a stop in Dublin without having to pay a phenomenal amount of money. All rooms have a Yellow Pages equivalent so that you can find your way and the TV is a good reception, also lots of sockets.
To book a room just go to http://www.jurysdoyle.com/ for a great deal. All hotels have photos to show what they look like and the Parnell ones are very accurate. They have more than one hotel in Dublin though but I'd say this is the best location for those wanting to be near everything including Temple Bar the main nightlife area....

We arrived at The Westbury hotel on foot as we'd decided to travel into Dublin city centre from the airport by bus and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the bus stop.
Our first thoughts were that the exterior of the hotel was pretty ordinary and not at all assuming.
There was a uniformed...

Stay @ the West-in Dublin
Advantages: Luxurious and fantastic service
Disadvantages: Expensive
...much Champagne, Wine and Guinness by this stage. The fare was a mixture of both typical Irish dishes, as well as International offerings on an a la carte menu. And, the Head Chef was a Scouser and an Evertonian to boot! Cracking chap, who had the time to come out from the kitchen and have a quick chat with our group. Not typical of the image most people have of a Head Chef, and to me further demonstrated the ethos of the staff within the hotel to provide that personal touch.
Finally, The Mint, which is the hotel bar located down in the basement. On a Friday evening, the bar is famed throughout Dublin for having a Salsa evening, which was actually started by one of the hotels Chefs, who suggested a theme evening on a Friday. We had such a good laugh just watching the dancing and it didn't become apparent until the end of the night...

The Mighty Mars Bar
Advantages: Classic chocolate bar
Disadvantages: They changed the nougat filling
...This is perhaps the most classic chocolate bar from my childhood. It has long been my favourite as a kid and I sort of have to say it still is so as not to feel as if I have disowned it (sorry Mars Bar but I have found other favourites - I still love you though!).
'A Mars a day helps you work rest and play' - this was the little catchphrase that was associated with Mars Bar. Funny really; it's like saying a chocolate bar a day is good for you. The slogan has now changed to 'Pleasure you can't measure' which definitely seems more appropriate.
A standard Mars bar comes at 58g, about 11cm long and 1.8cm high. You'll pay about 32p for this bar in supermarkets which is well below the norm of 50p. They used to be more expensive but in recent years, the classic nougat and caramel filling has obviously lost its appeal as new and more...

Where's The Wine?
Advantages: Quite Tasty
Disadvantages: Covered In Sugar
...flavoured and have a nice pleasant fruity taste.
Red - These are Strawberry flavoured and have quite a mild strawberry taste. I am generally not a big fan of Strawberry flavoured sweets but I did find these to be very nice.
Despite their name as with Wine Gums these sweets do not contain any wine or other form of alcohol whatsoever.

Dublin Hilton deserves a toast in Guinness
Advantages: Excellent Dublin base with good service
Disadvantages: None really
...case of the munchies and wandered down to the bar. It had a very social and lively atmosphere, and luckily no loud so called background music so people could actually hear themselves talk. Lots of locals having a drink/bite to eat and obviously a popular venue. I ordered a Hilton Burger, which arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. Freshly fried chips, big juicy burger with melted cheese, fresh crispy salad and a flavoursome sesame seed bun. Definitely worth the £5 I paid for it. However, when I said to put it on my room bill, the bartender said he couldn't as I had used my Visa debit to pay for the room. There hadn't been a problem doing the same thing in the other Dublin Hilton as you sign the form on arrival saying you will meet any costs charged to the card. I was on such a high from the concert though, that I didn't have...

Bewleys Hotel Dublin
Advantages: Near To Airport, Price
Disadvantages: None?
...I stayed at the Bewleys Hotel once before flying out from Dublin Airport, its a great location if you chose to fly from Dublin and live quite far away from it.
The double room we stayed in cost around 69 euros for one night, this is reasonable when you look at it from the point of view that travelling to the airport will be much easier the day after and also that your holiday begins a day earlier by staying there.
The room was clean and tidy and quite modernly decorated, there were two large (well big enough) double beds in the twin room and a small sitting area, the bathroom was clean and had a shower and a bath in it and had a few little treats like shower gel and a small sewing kit in it which I always like when I am staying in a hotel. There was a decent sized tv in the room that had a good range of channels that catered...
